      I recently read that air can get trapped between the layer of plastic and the Gelli plate, and cause pitting which will then transfer to your prints.

    • @GelliArts
      @GelliArts  4 роки тому +4

      As @iamdawt mentioned, sometimes air can get trapped between those plastic layers because it is harder to get perfectly smooth, like you can with plain white copy paper. Those air pockets can change the texture of your plate which transfers to your prints!

  • @sheryl5252
    @sheryl5252 3 роки тому

    hello!
    in the 'too much paint' part of the video (time stamp 3:00) , you started the brayer in the blue paint which turned the yellow to mud very quickly and showed that a clean blend was next to impossible. in the 'less paint' part of the video (time stamp 3:43) you rolled in the yellow first so you were able to get a nicer blend.
    although i agree that you should not use a lot of paint, i feel this comparison was biased to make the 'less paint' option seem better.
    i know this is not a scientific experiment, and i don't pretend that it is, i just thought if you are comparing, then the steps should be the same.....
    otherwise i like the video, found it very informative and as a very new person to gel printing, i really appreciate that you took the time to make it.
    i am excited about this new technique and the few times i have tried it, i just couldn't stop! i have so many backgrounds that i am sure i can't make that many cards! lol
    i'm definitely giving you a thumbs up and will be looking for some of your other videos.
    happy holidays to you and yours!

    I got my gelli plate yesterday and was so excited to get started... I applied paint using a brush and used canson mixed media sketchbook paper and acrylic craft paint...the paint did not lift well off the plate...I tried again applying a thicker paint layer all over the plate,,,less than 1/3 of the paint transferred to the paper on the first pull, and none on the second pull... the paint remained on the plate and had to be washed off...
    Any hints what I am doing wrong?

      You can actually make yourself with Gelatine. My understanding is because it is soft the Gellie plate you layering the paint your lifting the layering one at a time, you can even get a print from a magazine to reprint it's self.just put in Gellie plate you will find recipe's to make. It's a popular art form at the moment, Brigirt is wonderfully talented, she has a lot of excellent videos you'll learn alot, hope this helps you...

    I need to know: why to make the gelli prints and how they could be used in reality? I don't see any artists, who are selling their art, used any gelli prints in their arts, I see acrylic painting, watercolors painting. So, my question is--why do use time and paint to do gelli prints?
