Thank you for posting the video. I bought a gelli plate recently, & had my first try at printing using bubble wrap yesterday, so this film gives me lots more ideas. Never realised I could print using magazine pages. Loving the silkscreen look that this technique can give.

Great video. I have not used my gelling plate yet, and am learning with video first. Thank you!!

So helpful. I have found paper templates are really nice, but mostly for the upper layers. Your circles worked really well.
Thanks so much! 😊
Very good! Thank you.
Thank you 😊

I never thought about putting a transfer over another simple print. I loved that. Thanks ❤️
Thanks Eva, I am glad you liked this idea 😀
Thanks for showing all of these very interesting techniques. I haven't started making paper YET but I can see the beginning just over the horizon. Thanks so much for sharing! BTW I live in Rochester, New York.
You are so welcome!🤗
Inspirational thank you. I’m going to give it another go
That’s so great to hear 😀👏
This looks like great creative fun.
I’d like to try this…must get the gel and roller. Thank you.
Have fun!
Thank you Susan, this was a great overview. Thinking of ordering my 1st gel plate!!! - Much love to you!
(I am going to explore your channel!)
Great! Have fun 🤩
Great lesson
Thanks Sally I really appreciate the feedback 😀❤️
That image transfer is some kind of voodoo....how does that even happen?! I am intrigued (and still quite new...LOL)
Ha ha it is like a magic trick every time when it works 😀🤩
Thank you for this tutorial. I am new to your channel and very impressed with your talent.
Many thanks 🙏 🥰❤️
Great advice. Just do it! If it works it does, if it doesn't work, it doesn't. LOL! Try, try, try again!
Ha ha words of wisdom 😀💗
I love your layered prints! This
Thank you Devon, the trick is knowing when to stop 😂
Yes, I feel like I need an in person workshop but live miles away from Scotland....workshop in the South West Susan 😊?
Very nice thanks ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching Lynette 🙏🏻
Great video learned a lot of things ❤
That’s great to hear Joyce! Many thanks for watching 😀
Excellent video. I had only done the magazine image transfers. Lots of new ideas to try!
Thank you
You're welcome ☺️
Wow, I'm impressed. How creative. I want to try this with a copy of a photo for a Christmas card to the family of the photo. Maybe that might work.❤
Thank you, I think it’s unlikely that the Christmas card would work. It’s the high contrast areas with toner ink thats used in glossy magazines or photocopy laser prints that works best for this technique.
Wonderful
Thank you! Cheers!
Me too! Can’t wait to learn more ways of using this fantastic piece of art kit 🤗🤩
Very helpful, thank you! Laura ❤
You are welcome Laura, I’m glad you found the tips helpful 😀
So cool how the magazine image transfers. I wonder if it works with anything else like printed photos
You can’t use photos on the gel plate, you can print your own images onto copy paper with a laser printer though. 😊
Im amazed at all of this!!!! Your a great teacher! Thank you so much !!! I love it.
It reminds me of silkscreening
I make paperbeads and wondering if i can use color with the picture transfer?❤
Thank you 😊, I’m glad you found this helpful. You can use colours to do the transfers. Make sure the paint is not transparent as they don’t work so well for this technique. Have a look at Marsha Valk Gelli Arts on here or Instagram, she uses bright colours a lot in her transfers 😀
@@susanmccreevyartist thank you so much for the quick response! You're the best! ❤️
What a fabulous and useful video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I love the effect you get with the draining mat (the one made up of circles). Where did you get it from? I can't see anything similar on the internet.
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! 😊 I got the draining mat from B&M home store.
love your videos, so fun to watch, so calming. i’ve tried a bit of it in the past but unfortunately with not much success. how do I know which magazine works and which one don’t?
Thanks ☺️ Trial and error mainly but the glossy fashion ones like vogue have worked best for me 😍
Awesome video, thank you! Haven't touched my gelli plate in a minute and this refreshed my memory. The use of magazine prints is completely new to me. So cool! I think I saw you use acrylic paint. I've been using that as well, adding slow drying medium but I can"t seem to get the same payoff for the second - let alone the third print. Any tips? Thanks!
Thanks so much! If I get a 3rd print the paint is generally quite thickly applied. The paint I use is medium bodied which helps too.
@@susanmccreevyartist I'll keep at it and see what works. Thank youuuu ☺
I love your choice of materials & colors ....very elegant & tasteful. Just got my Gelli plate & need to know if either side works . Whats the best liquid to use for cleaning & where did you buy those large Brayers ?
Hi 👋 thank you 🤩
Baby wipes or soapy water for cleaning 🧼 I buy all my rollers on Amazon
amzn.eu/d/f8pW38L
Oh, at the 5:30 mark when the paper was stuck, I would have used a background color to try and lift the paper that was stuck plus the remaining ghost image, if it worked it would have been super interesting! Thanks for sharing these techniques!
Great tip!
@@susanmccreevyartist 👍🙂🌷
Love this! What is the material you have over the plate? When you peel off the paper, I see that you have something over the plate.
Hmm 🤔 I’m not sure what you mean, if I’m placing paper onto the plate, it might be on top of hessian or printers scrim to push it into the paint 🤔
Thanks for the lesson, Susan! So do you only use these papers for collage? Or can you create finished artwork from a print?
Hi Heidi, the last series of paintings I made that you probably saw on IG ( there’s a short on here too) Many of them started off as a print adhered to wooden cradleboard then I paint on top, collage more or add pen details.
Lovely prints in a limited cilia palette. You might try cutting stencils from Yupo or Tyvek. (Mailing envelopes)
Thanks Avanelle, they would prob hold up better for sure 😀
This is wonderful! Will any paper do? Doing my first ones and after the first printing, the acrylic paint wears off almost completely.
I like to use thinner papers like photocopy paper, just experiment with the amount of paint you are using and maybe try a different brand of paint, liquitex basics are reliable 😀
