- Calgary Transit is pleased to announce that it has entered into a contract with Siemens Canada to order 60 new S200 light rail vehicles (LRVs). This video provides an overview of the new trains and three possible design options.
Put air conditioning on buses. Holy shit its horrid when it's 30+ degrees outside in the summer and you're crammed inside that insulated greenhouse with 50 other people sweating their asses off.
+Alan Richards what about the winter..? All buses have heat
Talk about stampede. I was in a bus
cramped up with all these sweaty people touching me
from the year 2023 and man who approved this livery
3:20 So standing on the yellow line well train is passing by a safe
we gotta get these in Edmonton
Sleek and modern. I live in Los Angeles. The MTA here just orders plain-jane-trains.
The C-train Calgary deserves, but not the one it needs right now.
We should get all of them
It's about time! When u look at the transportation system in Europe, we're so far behind!!
The Mast for sure. Bow would be second choice. Buffalo looks pretty boring.
Which ever one has Heat and Air Conditioning
Such a shit design! Look at other countries (Germany, China, UAE, etc) trains to get some ideas. Cow town mentality with cow coming down the track.
3:13 does anyone know what happen to the model on the right there?
That's a series 5,6,7 SD160 those trains were painted like u2s but in 2008 the city started reprinting the sd160
where are the seats in the new C train? are we just simply standing there for our trip? I want my seat designed as the old ones had.
The masked Siemen train is now current new installation of ctrains
bow looks pretty aggressive like "f you customer im gonna get you to downtown b****"
Please don't plaster ads all over the new trains and buses ,hate that
Big Brother Ryan
You have any other idea to generate revenue?
Trains look like 2000-2001-2010
the mask is the chosen ctrain of 2017
Whats with no seats on the new c trains......???
wowwww that's awesome!!! I wish my hubby is asked to move out to Calgary and work for the CT train system...
Bow
I just hope they don't spark like the last order does.
How did the mask win? The buffalo should have won.
Yellow and black OR blue and silver interior should be used
Glad to see they are, at least, getting rid of the small moulded ass seating. The original seat designs are the best though with rows of seating rather than wasteland to stand that never gets fully occupied as intended, even during rush hour - since it creates awkward spaces between people.
I’m now realizing that the design used is a combo of Mask and Buffalo
Absolutely hate the new design. The majority of the train is occupied by a no-seating area, with a padded bar to rest on along each side of the train, so you can stand. You gotta stare awkwardly at the person standing in front of you, or peer past them, or look behind you to see out the window. The only seating is on the very far ends of the train. Horrible. I don't know who came up with it, but it's bad. I'm just glad the old ones still run. I hate when it's the new ones that pull up to the station.
THE NEW TRAIN IS OUT!!
oh no wonder i never see them
Talha Naeem 2 years later
Oh look they are common
Wow! Amazing stuff about Cowtown! If you read the associated remarks you have to ignore the bad taste in word choices!
The closest one to what we got is Buffalo
Why do the couplers extend so far?
It's sad that we don't get to see it Well most of it
okay, i live in calgary and use the c train a lot. i loathe the old one like their engines just roast me in the summer and i don't need them in winter. but at least their seating arrangement is better. i like the rows, sorta like the ones in the buses. but no, the geniuses decided to make the longass seat along the wall of the train. it creates awkward spaces between people and most of them just stand around. and you have to look across the aisle or behind you to look out the windows. just no. i tend to put my knees on the back of the seat in front of me but i cannot. eh. like the design. the mask is still better than all of the rest in my opinion. and thumbs up 4 green line! i live near north pointe.
I like the bow
Me too it's a lovely building
What does the inside look like?
Calgary have a lot of mulas
Mask
How about a gradual removal of all at-grade level crossings on all C-Train routes?
Too bad Calgary was to cheap to put in a subway. The one in Vancouver runs every 2-5 minutes. This stupid C-train runs every 15 minutes.
Calgary's land area is much larger than Vancouver so building a subway would just be too ambitious and costly.
BasePuma4007 Maybe. Vancouver proper is small (with a small population), but their subway does run through several other cities who combined size and population are not small.
Chris P c-train could run every 2-4 minutes too, it has nothing to do with it being a light rail rather than a subway
*****
there is no conductor on the Vancouver subs and they never have to stop for traffic or switch conductor or stop for repairs. Calgary c-train do.
Chris P the ctrains also rarely have to stop for traffic lights outside downtown, and calgary preferred a network cheap to construct and to operate i can't see how this was a bad idea back when calgary had only 500k inhabitants.
Aren't we just going to turn them into billboards anyays...
Your fare is less with more ads on transit I hope you know that…
@@imperialdoggo5826 Then why spend more on selecting an exterior paintjob if the intent is to solicit advertisement, wouldn't just painting "Your ad could be here" be enough.
@@johnwang9914 I don’t think I understand what you mean.
@@imperialdoggo5826 Sigh, the video is about selecting the paint scheme for new trains and I posted that they are likely to be covered with advertisement anyways hence why go to the expense of a competition for a new paint layout. It's as simple as that yet someone who clearly missed the point wrote a reply admonishing that the advertisements reduced the fares. I never said there wasn't a benefit to advertising nor did I say whether or not advertising was a good idea, I only mentioned that effort into selecting a new paint scheme might be moot and unnecessary but I guess that went right over some people's heads.
the designs looks fantastic...but I have better idea to take out the outside cables ..
I wonder why The City of Calgary is not supporting Canadian business like Bombardier for its C-Trains? Even Edmonton was smart enough to have their downtown lines/stations built underground. Calgary Transit has a large amount of room to improve!
I would like to believe that, but I think that is partially due to the fact that Calgary has the highest amount of downtown workers when compared to other major Canadian cities (percentage wise) - and parking is way too expensive downtown, unless your company pays for it.
yyc403 the bombardier low floor lrv are being used for the green line (same as the new streetcar in toronto)
Calgary Transit is gonna use Bombardier for the Green Line C-Train cars
I actually think that we are using S200s
I still don’t understand why we didn’t keep our elevated trains for the green line. Calgary transit continues to confuse me.
So is there 2 colour schemes this and the white with 3 stripe one? maybe different lines or is the old being replaced
this was a rather pointless and unnecessary discussion cause when I use the train, I use it to get to point A to point B. I only care about functionality, not looks
Really love the modern style...
When will the new trains be put into action? They look really neat!
Summer 2015 IIRC
Sweet!
This comment was made a while ago, there is more info on when we'll see them on the tracks. The first of the S200 trains should be in the hands of Calgary Transit already, and are expected to hit the tracks for public use in December
круть !!!
