You have to be kidding! Build a fifteen story hotel in six days that is impossible. Well not in China. Six days equals one hotel. You have to take a look at this time lapse photography. We have a building that is taking almost two years to build just a roof, it's called B.C. place. Could you send over your Chinese work crew. So what do you think?

Thank you for your video, I am Chinese and living in Vancouver now. Actually those Chinese workers have used 4 months to do the concrete foundation and 12 days to build(or assembled) 57 stories. With other 7 raining days they can't work, so the total is 19 days.

That was pretty amazing. Kind of reminds me of put-together-yourself furniture. With a lot of pre-fab parts and planning, you can build some pretty nice things quickly. Maybe they'll start selling 15-story building kits. (It'd be interesting to see how the building faired in fire/electrical/structural safety tests & standards.)

  • @username-jn6uo

For everyone saying the pre fabrication process took a lot of time, heres reality. It's STILL FASTER even counting the fabrication time. The parts and building blocks are mass produced on assembly lines and then sold to all sorts of building companies, unlike the US where cement is poured in and you gotta wait for all this stuff. Approving the building is also a lot faster without needing a million permissions and signed contracts like in the US. The contractor in charge of the building don't have to manufacturer most of the blocks used for assembly, they just buy it and ship it. Plus, building in the US also takes fabricated beams, concrete blocks, etc too!
Basically you don't have to deny the truth. You might have some pride in your country and think this is just a bunch of hoax and lies but China decided to adapt a new style of building thats faster and more efficient and ahead of many countries and sooner or later countries will start to catch up and adapt the same style of building.

Don't be too carried away by this. In 1942 the Americans turned the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown round after she suffered major battle damage (she was towed into port with a 30 degree list) after the Battle of the Coral Sea and she sailed out fully repaired in 48 (that's right 48) hours. She fought in but was also tragically sunk in the battle of Midway after suffering several direct bomb hits. Amazing what you can do with an unlimited budget and a desire to complete the task quickly.

  • @James1230

it is possible because the materials that they used are already pre-fabricated before it is actually delivered to the construction site, so the workers will just assemble and fix it. It makes the work much easier. But i think 90% of the building structural frame are made of steel, instead of using concrete so they didnt have to wait for it to dry up, like what other traditional buildings were made of. In Dubai, I think they are also making buildings in a span of one year, but has a different building techniques.

I hate when people actually think the Chinese can complete a building in 6 days. Took much longer than 6 days to build. The foundations are poured weeks earlier cause concrete has to set before stresses are added to it. The modules are prefabbed for months. The interior finish out was going on for a couple months after the core and shell was completed. The core and shell took 6 days but the construction took months.

I'm an Architect and to say that the building in the video was constructed in only 6 days was a complete bull crap. Firstly, preparation alone to prepare(concrete slab to put on those steel column) and layout the site would take a month. Then after building the building itself which is 6 days according to video, they will aloted at least 6 months for wiring the electrical/communication system, mechanical/heating ventilating airconditioning, finishing the exterior then interior then, landscasping.

It looks cool and all, but I would have to know a whole lot more about the construction techniques used before making a final judgment. It is undoubtedly amazing; an incredibly efficient process. However, I think it would be easier to make a hotel than to make a sliding roof simply because with the hotel, once you have one story, you just mass produce that story and keep stacking. It would take a less cookie-cutter approach to make a mechanical roof.
    Amazing build nonetheless.

@roybofmn nice way to break it down. At the same time, I'd invite you to search for an example of the same thing happening anywhere else at that rate. Prefabricated components yes or no. I take your point about it being a box, but you'll also find with a little research that construction time isn't vastly impacted by the question of box: yes or no. Interview a professional in the fields of either architecture or construction - they'll find that rate of work staggering as well.

Although I do have one serious question now - having looked at the "time-lapse" footage again. Why is it light at the 0-hour mark, and dark at the 24 hour mark? If it's broad daylight they started at 8am on Monday, 24 hours later it's 8am on a Tuesday - and then 24 hours later (48 hours mark) it's already light again... Barring an eclipse or something else, that implies the timer is either too fast (unlikely) or there's some faking going on.

How many man-hours are included in 6 days? Did they build a hotel in just 1440 man-hours? I guess it was the construction crew of ten workers and of course, they didn't work overtime? They didn't have their own David Podmore. Btw all parts are made remotely and delivered to the site and put together by site crew.

It took longer than 6 days to build it they had to prefab all the sections first then transport them over there and pour the concrete in the foundation

Since I live in Canada I can easily say they are the slowest builders ever.
I guess part of the reason they use 5 guys to finish the whole thing, so to speak

terexmechanic: Sorry you are wrong about the the Empire State building being constructed at 1 floor per day....it was 1 floor per week on the average....but still in the 1920's that was great achievement.

By the time it took them to build this another 100 billion of them were born; and only 2 million can fit into the hotel..
