HUGELY APPRECIATE your content Yowana! I am wondering if you can do a video on the specifics of the JD plan you are currently following? I am going through the book right now too, and putting together a training plan based on his teachings for myself to prepare for an upcoming marathon (first one!). Are you doing his 5-week rotation plan? or the 2Q plan? I am so curious! You seem very knowledgeable about your programming and I'd love to learn more!! Thanks again for your work and dedication to us on UA-cam 🤗🙏👟
thank you emily!!! really appreciate the kind words and support. i roughly follow his 2Q plans - i've modified a bit in the past few weeks but i always try to attack the weekend long run and then do one longer midweek workout. i'm going back to the 2Q 100 mile to 120 mile plan for the next few weeks - 6 weeks out from chicago! stay tuned for tomorrow's video (not the first run going up tonight) - i'm planning on sharing more on my training and what i've been doing
I'm definitely on board for the grateful. I'm grateful that I live in a time and place where I have clean running water and refrigeration. I'm grateful that my kids are healthy and that, even as teenagers, they're still willing to hang out with their dad on a Saturday afternoon. People do need to be responsible with their dogs though. You never know if a strange dog is going to be friendly. My dog and I have occasionally been approached by off leash dogs and I have to stop so he can turn and face them and wait for the other dog to change his mind or for the owner to come out. Definitely breaks the rhythm.
Yes I’ve been waiting for this follow up! I’m trying to see how this is compares to the Cloudboom Strike especially when holding these paces in the 6’s. I noticed in the Strike review you dropped down to avg 7:30’s for 5 miles or so after going demon time in the 5’s, and then subsequently finished strong the 5’s afterwards. Whilst here you held 6’s the entire time (which might’ve affected your ability to dip down in the 5’s as easily?). I know there’s obviously tons of other extraneous factors (the dog, varying fatigue, etc), but I’m curious which shoe you find sets/holds the pace easier at higher limits. I’ve got the Strike and ran my 10k PB recently, very curious about these Gara’s. I definitely feel like when I step on it in the Strike I’m in the 5:30’s surprisingly quickly and effortlessly.
After this run in the Gara I'm feeling like the strike was faster. I remember thinking I was going 6:05 in the strike and it turns out I was at 5:40s. And yesterday in the Gara I thought I was at 6:05 and I was at 6:20. Like you mentioned fatigue plays a big part but the top end speeds felt more natural in the cloudboom strike - I'm going to do another run in that soon though to compare
@@supwell Thanks for the feedback! Trackstaa just posted a Gara review and said it’s the fastest shoe he’s ever tried, they seem to be a competitive athlete and compared it to the Takumi Sen 8 at toe off/launch. You mentioned the toe off to be really nice as well. I’m probably squabbling at the margins, I just wish the Gara was more accessible to be tried on in stores. I got to put them on once when I picked up the Strike but haven’t found them anywhere since. I’ll stay posted for whenever the Strike revisit comes along next ✌
regarding the nutbutter......my own non vegan option peanuts, almonds or hazelnuts put in a food processor until it is a smooth creme take 7 parts of the creme and 3 parts of butter....that`s all at the moment i am experimenting with a vegan option, taking coconut instead of butter my all time favorite dipp for my bananas after my afternoon run: 1/3 of nut creme, 1/3 butter, 1/3 honey, cacao powder mixed to a dark creme, dipp in the banana and hear the angels sing

1:07:35 Leaving Rottweiler without supervision and unleashed is crazy. You need permission to even have one and leaving it like that is asking for trouble.
Is it possible to be confused on what shoe size to get…I’m new to running and running shoes.. I’ve always wore shoes for style not fitness.. I recently had a heart attack last Christmas Day and I’ve spent the last 6 months eating right and now I am pushing myself more to live healthier.. running seems like a great hobby only if I can figure out my shoe size.. my feet size tells me I fit in a 8 shoe but most shoes feel to tight at 8… should I only get shoes that feel right in 8 or is it ok to half size up and have room in the front on other shoes that I can’t fit in a 8?
I'm typically a 10.5 in shoes but in some brands like certain Hoka shoes I'm a 10 but in certain New Balance shoes I'm an 11. The manufacturer makes shoes differently mainly around the toe box that can change size. So you can get your foot measured digitally at a place like Fleet Feet or you can just go by feel and what feels best for you.
If you can’t try on in store, Running Warehouse has an easy return/exchange policy. You can use Yowana’s link in the description of the videos. Like the person above I’m mostly a 10.5 but sometimes an 11 and occasionally a 10.5 wide. Many times it depends on how forgiving the upper on the shoe is. That’s what makes the difference for me most cases. I wish you health and happiness ✌️🫶
Your feet will swell up during a run you almost always want to size up. Personally I have wide feet sp I always size up. I wear an 8.5 in casual shoes but for my running shoes I have always sized up to 9.5 in Saucony, addidas, brooks and altras.
How is the sizing compared to the Adidas Adios Pro 3, or Puma Deviate Nitro Elite or Asics Meta Speed Paris Sky? Size up, size down? Thank you for your opinion.
Yeah after this run I'm going Alphafly for an all out PR attempt. Felt like it had a little bit extra when I was trying to dig. The Gara is definitely the more comfortable choice though - so if you're going more for comfort than speed I'd go Gara
nothing reckless about snagging the black/gold colorway😮💨 (Hobby joggers - if you’re not on Supwell yet, I posted a discount code that gets you $60 off these bad boys🤫)
Great fast, stable racing shoe. Unfortunally the durability is unacceptable for me. The rubber at the heel is gone after just 100km. In other shoes I can run 700km+. Hope future versions of the shoe address the durability issze. Rest of the shoe looks and feels nearly new.
Great video today..the Diadora cara carbon was the shoe I should have used for marathon instead of the alphafly V3..but for fast racing the alphafly V3 works better for shorter races for me..for me the Diadora is definitely much softer and much easier on my feet and joints..I don't think the durability is gonna be very good ..at 80mi it's showing the wear on the outsole while the upper looks great..probably the most comfortable shoe I've used in a long time and I will get another one when this one is toast..interested in trying more of their shoes..😊😊
@supwell I'm excited for you, bro! Love seeing people succeed, especially with consistent hard work! Even though you haven't showed us the 1080 v14's yet.. I'll let that slide. 🤧
