This set has some of my favorite art direction, ever.
I went 5-1 because of your limited set reviews. Thank you.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I went 0 wins all three rounds before dropping out lol
Went to my first prerelease tonight, got Maha as my foil prerelease promo and also got a Ygra in my packs so of course i forced Golgari. Ended up going 2-1 so it went pretty well.
Clean 3-0 prerelease off the back of Mabel and her many, many mice!
One might even say many, many, mini mice
@@johnscherer5686" many mice, many many many many mice wish death on you..."
Thanks for making these guides, they really do help a lot. Even if your predictions aren't accurate, they just get me thinking about how to evaluate cards better and that is great.
Just won my prerelease event. 1/60 in Portland. Thanks for the tips and tricks sir. 🍻
4-0 at prerelease at quantum games in kelowna. Thanks Niz, your videos always set me up to do well
3-0 at my first pre-release with a sick Naya token deck with Baylen, Starfall Invocation, and Manifold mouse, the reviews helped a ton
Manifold Mouse is awesome, even with just a few mice in my deck it won me several games!
Use Offsping on Flowerfoot Swordmaster then follow up that next turn with an Offspringed Intrepid Rabbit targeting each Swordmaster separately worked wonders for me.
I went 3/0 in prerelease didn’t lose a game. Black/red with all the removal and the red rare that lets you recast spells from the graveyard. Had 10 pieces of removal ready to be played one game. Felt so bad for my oops
What did you feel bad for?
@@Th3Rad10D3m0m because each of my opponents let out and audible “Jesus Christ” while having their spirit completely crushed. There was not a point in any of the games where I was even close to being on the back foot.
Went to the prerelease at my local games store, and won all 3 sealed matches I played, so thank you for the useful advice!
Surprised no Thought-Stalker Warlock. I think it is the BEST common/uncommon in the set. The absolute floor is a guaranteed 2 for 1. And 2/2 menace for 3 is a passable body, too. It is a true 2 for 1, not some 1/1 that is technically a 2 for 1 because it draws a card or makes a food.
Its ceiling is a Thoughtseize without life loss, too. And there are typal considerations, plus ways to bounce this in blue. It's great
It's great and number 2 for me, and wouldn't surprise me if it's better than Wick's Patrol in the end.
I also wanted to bring up the thought-stalker. It was a huge role player in my prerelease deck that went 3-0. I was able to bring in back from the grave yard and get multiple ETBs and the menace makes it a decent attacker after it sticks its landing, especially if you can pump it up. I haven't played with Wick's Patrol yet though so time will tell which one is the most impactful.
Thanks for all your hard work, the evaluations really help me understand these cards in the limited environment. Went 3-0 (5-1-1) on my first sealed pool for this set using an red green expend 4/valiant hybrid deck. I ended up with 2 Meurra trash tacticians and the life gain did a lot of work.
Kindlespark Duo's art is especially whimsical adorable 😍
Went 2-2 with the rats. I think they may be a little too slow for the format but those unblockable looter rats do a ton of work for that drck.
This was an especially useful video... you made several points that may have been obvious but that I overlooked. Excellent review!
Went 2-0-1 (2 wins and a tie) at prerelease last night. Removal was mediocre in my pool overall unfortunately, but I had Ygra and Camellia (the latter of which, I think, is 100% a build-around A, because good lord the games it won me) so I went Golgari and splashed White (I had substantial fixing in my pool, at least) for a few critically solid bats and bat payoffs (Wax-Wane Witness included!). Overall a good experience!
The last animals based set ikoria didn’t get played much due to covid, so it’s great that we get this set now and it seems more balanced than the crazy stuff from ikoria
Went 4-0 (8w-1L) tonight, thank you!
Nizzahon is gonna be busy with how soon Duskmourn is coming.
Having won my prerelease yesterday, I can confirm both Intrepid Rabbit and Bakersbane Duo are quite cracked. Especially if manage to pull three of the rabbits and a duo of the duo.
I got a double kill with Rabid Gnaw at the pre-release by using it on the 2/1 first strike raccoon. It was being blocked by a 2/3, and I used Rabid Gnaw to kill something else then eat the blocker in combat.
In my prerelease I had three hunters talent in my sealed pool. It was nutty. Had the 3 mana 3/3 frog that bounces permanent back to hand as well so I would recast them often. Then pumped the class up to close out with card advantage from my beefy green creatures. Super fun for me. Not so much for my opponents.
I’m surprised that you didn’t bring up Carrot Cake. I think in my opinion it’s one of the best white commons. The enters/sacrifice ability to create a 1/1 and scry 1 creates nice value. Additionally, the artifact’s Food subtype lends itself to the entire white/black archetype, white/green archetype, and even supplementing for some Forage cards. Personally, that’s why I feel it’s an all-star, though I mostly agree with your picks for best commons for white.
it’s a little rough on t2 because it loses to basically any other 2 drop, but i think it’s a pretty strong common overall
For red stormsplitter def my favorite it makes explosive turns if you play it with ghyrson on the field
Just in time for the pre-releaseeee
Thanks for the overview that very helpful!
With the cards like finch formation, i feel like those are just really good in two headed giant
Went 2-1 in my prerelease, no signposts, no mythics unfortunately. My consolation is I pulled a full alt art lumra from my prizes.
hunter's talent is indeed messed up
Banishing Light a common now? I mean, it makes sense, but didn't expect it
2-1 with my Mardu bats and lizards odd combo. Got mauled by mice on round 2 lol
Mice deck goes hard. Went 3-0 at prerelease last night.
Going to noon prerelease today, this will be helpful!
Went to a win-a-box prerelease and used bats went 5-2 coming in 2nd overall out of over 20 players
Went 3-0 with a golgari forage deck spashing caretakers talent it overperformed for sure
My friend just got back from vacation so I didn't get to go to prerelease
Just wanted to say that some of us viewers also read other's comments before posting to avoid leaving duplicates ;)
Fair enough, but usually when I make a mistake, there's about 10 comments haha
For sure, that’s something we in the community could work on. You tend to follow up with corrections or clarifications and you seem to read many of the comments so no need for us to hammer it home repeatedly, in my opinion. Thanks also for the video, hopefully attending a paper draft tomorrow and need all tips I can get :D
i think it s funny how he himself says how fast the pace can be in the draft and then goes and recommends 5 and 6 mana cards for blue. sure they r certainly good if u draft around them but enabling sucha slow deck is...not that easy
I feel like the food mechanic has been fully played out. We have had WAYYYYYY too many cards using food in the last few years of mtg. We got a break from it for awhile then it keeps coming back in the strangest places over and over. Where's all the mana flood/mana screw protection?
1-2 at the prerelease worst I've done in a while.
3-0 2v2 event with otters and rabbits
no multicolored?
First!
Probably the worst common and uncommon cards ever in a set. Seriously bad. I think the whole set is really bad , maybe it gets better after release but i doubt it.
This opinion is objectively wrong at this point.
“Power creep in standard is a problem”
*Wizards tones down the overall power level*
“These cards suck”
