Looks like I'm wrong about BW, it indeed about both gaining and losing life, as the signpost indicates. Lots of cards doing exactly that we're revealed between when I recorded it and when the video went up!
@@TheTurkishBear Replacement effect.. If you could select one or more PawPrints worth of modes you may select that many +1 PPs worth of modes instead.. You didn't make it super clear from your description of expend, but you get the trigger even if you cast two 2 drops in a turn. it doesn't have to all be towards one spell, just 4 mana total
I haven't been playing magic for about four years now. I genuinely enjoy this channel and how it keeps me informed on new sets and reminds me of all the fun I used to have in some of the old games when you do a top 10. I remember listening to your opinion before pre-release in a few sets and you helped me do a lot better more times than not.
Important note about Offspring for Constructed: Unlike copying a creature/permanent spell (e.g. Tawnos, the Toymaker), the 1/1 token you get is actually "created" so you'll get two copies from your Parallel Lives, get an extra Squirrel from Chatterfang, etc.
@@evelezpuma This is still the fact it you copy a creature spell with Tawnos, though. So there's no difference there between this and copying a permanent spell.
It would have been nice to design the white / blue creatures to have flying only on even mana costs so that if you curve out, you play non-fliers on the odd turns, then buff them on the evens.
I was not exited about bloomburrow at all, i thought is was just gonna be a bunch of animals at a standard power level. Seeing that wizards didnt make the whole focus on creature types and that they have a few really cool themes for the color pair is a huge green flag for me

I did not quite get at first that valiant works on triggered abilities that as well. That made me much more hype knowing you could potentially get it going for free which honestly makes me actually prefer it to heroic
Rakdos should have had a mechanic about turning creatures rabid. A payoff to increase their power and give keys words like haste, first strike, lifeline, trample but at the same time cause its owner damage every upkeep or some other downside
Surely, an electromancer with prowess is going to be pretty good. At worst it's a more fragile electromancer, but at best it's an electromancer that's also a storm payoff in itself.
Dont know the current MTG meta but Starseer, at least from my older knowledge, is good. Yes its a 3/5 for 5 but its Flying and Vigilance, which is pretty good. Then if you either gained life or took damage, which is how 90% of MTG games are won, your opponent loses 3 life, so punishing them for trying to win, OR they sacrifice a permanent Or Discard a card. That second part is key. It simply denies your opponent building a board, cause either they have to sac a permanent losing board state or discard a card that prevents them from further building a board state.
Now that they have revealed the BG signpost uncommon, to me it feels like its rarity should be swapped with the BG common. Maybe they were worried about other colour pairs having access to TWO Food from one card? I dunno.
Wandertale Mentor kind of fights itself doesn't it? Yes it gets bigger, but you also wanna tap it for mana. Yes, at some point ou don't need to tap it anymore and you have a strong attacker, but the desgn seems kinda counterintouitif to me.
I felt similar; but I kinda think you use it early game for mana, and when you no longer need it as such use it as creature. In practice it might work out?
Just to be clear: Expend 4 gets triggered only once per turn and only on your 4th mana, doesn't matter which combination of spells took you to get there; you can cast a single 4+ MV spell, sure, but you can also get it by playing a 3 MV creature (such as Brambleguard Veteran itself) + a combat trick for example. It is kinda misleading when you say "adding this trigger to all of your more expensive spells", it feels more like an incentive to consistently spend a majority of your (mana) resources on your turn rather than a bonus to going big spells.
@@YourAdHere4Tbf, it's just drafting on rails for the most part, and - for most other sets nowadays - there's usually a fair bit of wiggle room and overlapping synergies. In Jeskai colors? Pick cards with energy symbols on. In Temur? Pick Eldrazi. Etc. Drafting usually implies a choice, but there's little to no choice to be made in MH3. Well except "choose the right creature type/symbol and have a decent deck, or choose the wrong one and have a losing deck".
How much magic is too much magic? MH3 still feels fresh and here comes another epic set begging for your dollars. Not to mention the random throwaway AC content tossed in between, as if we didn’t have enough to buy
You are speaking to the choir, wizards even said you are supposed to only buy the product you care about, you don’t have to buy it all, that train of thought it’s so frustrating, I wanna enjoy a set for longer than a week, but hasbro thinks they make more money burning us out. I kinda given up on paper magic, except for bloomburrow, I’m gonna definitely get all the commander decks to get my family to play with me. For mh3 I just play it in arena. All my friends have abandoned magic a long time ago, and I just hold into my arena account. We had a freaking epic Vikings set and it felt like it was just for a day, I wanna enjoy the flavor of sets like we used to.

The moon waxes and wanes, after all.
Do you know if this triggers if I gain and lose an equal amount of life (I lose 3 life and sacced a food this turn)?

"What do you mean?"

"Paws" look like energy, exept without sticking around. It seems like a good designspace even of it looks goofy.
Well.. Energy is not usually used with multiple options like that - but could be.

It could be a static ability of a permanent giving permanent boost or on a token tht get's scrificed when you do or created by an activated abiity or spell.
Excluding the options where you for some reason choose not to spend the whole budget, each Season card has five different ways it can be cast.
So, for completeness's sake, it's:
Choose nothing, choose a (1) option 1-5 times, choose a (2) option 1-2 times, choose a (3) option 1 time, 1(1) + 1(2), 2(1) + 1(2), 3(1) + 1(2), 1(1) + 1(3), 2(1)+1(3), 1(1)+2(2), 1(2)+1(3).
That's 16 options ranging from "worthwhile" to "deliberately doing nothing". That's what I call modality.
Yep.. 3+2=5, 3+1+1=5, 2+2+1=5, 2+1+1+1=5, 1+1+1+1+1=5
Very minor and not a Limited thing, but I like how Offspring triggers Celebration (from Wilds of Eldraine) by itself.
