i think the non-thermostatic adapter approach offers a peace of mind in the sense that you will always have flow. stuck and cheap thermostats in these adapters are a very real thing.
I know I'm late to the party here, but... Good video. No filler bullcrap. Straight to the point and useful. Question: Mounted like that, when changing the filter, wouldn't it spill...like a lot? Cheers!
when i picked up my sc i had hopes and dreams and ass the last yea passed other then interior and a 100wet shot i just kinda lost track after seeing all ur videos it reminds me that us sc300 owners have a gem or a car and isnt as'huge as others in the tuner world yet can any type of car luxory drag VIP ect.and yet ppl never even mention it thanks for getting my'head straight
Good stuff man. I did the 1JZ swap about 6 years ago on my 93 SC300 and loved it so much that I now have 2 1JZ Soarers in Japan. On to the question. How is this kit holding up after a few months? Also if I get the kit I will use the Greddy thermostat so i'll have that base covered.
Great vid. Super chill and well edited. Now that you have had this kit on the car for 6+ months, any issues? Leaking or ruptures? I am considering purchasing the basic kit (without relocation) and pairing it up with the Greddy thermostatic plate. The build is an RB26 TT into a 300zx (Z32), so having an oil failure is something I am pretty nervous about. Any feedback you can give on the sustained quality of the Rev9 kit would be great. Thanks in advance, BC
+BCs300z I had some minor leaks around the fittings but was quickly remedied with some teflon thread sealer tape. Not the white stuff but the industrial pink kind that is petroleum and gas resistant. No ruptured lines so far. Thanks for suporting the video!
You have a girlfriend? The thread size/fitting is not 3/4 DASH 16. 16 is the thread count per inch. DASH is how you size tubing or hoses. The AN fitting is not called AN DASH 10. You would say "The fittings are AN 10. Also, you installed the filter upside down. When you take it off you are going to have a mess! Also, In your orientation, you can not prime the filter with oil. Right now it's full of air that might not push all out. It might even cause a problem. I would definitely re-mount it. I'm an engine builder. Hey, at least you are trying to do your own work. That's commendable. Keep it up. But, I would suggest talking to a mechanic for a little advice. Ask, how would they mount it? It might just save you big bucks if something minor causes something major.
+Steve Solo My wife now. The specs were pulled directly from the product listing shown in the discription, so yes a bit was lost in the dialog. The reason i mounted this way was to mimic what i have seen on many professional race team vehicles. Im not sure if they have a system in place for priming but i will definitely look into that. Im currently an apprentice mechanic so i appreciate the no bullshit input^^
congrats on the marriage! I owned a race shop and we had 2 teams. Those were crazy years. I just wanted to point the fitting names. You looked young so I figured you'd check data now before putting it out there. To prime it you fill the filter with oil before screwing it on, if mounted the other way.
hey man good job all around im about to take my'stab at this same'swap in my 93 sc just curious if u have any pointers on the wire harness kinda has me'nervous and cant afford to pay some one else
Nice! the best advice i can give you for an easy wire harness is to make sure the donor engine is from a soarer. i only had to extend everything about 18 inchs, swap 2 wire s foe the check engine light and ground a wire for the temp guage. also i by passed the nss/clutch switch by hotwiring the starter to the ignition.
Since it doesn’t have a thermostat will that messed with the engine? And would this kit work with Greddy Remote Oil Filter Mount to help with the thermostat since it’s built in with it
With temperature outside 10-15C and higher there is no problem running without thermostat. However when temperature is below 5C your oil temperature would be below optimal if you just daily cruising, especially on the highway. If you don't want to use thermostat then you can cover oil cooler with cardboard for the winter, should be good.
Wrong filter orientation. Filter should face down from adapter block to prevent drainage. Don't tell me anti drain back valves prevent that. After a week the oil is gone, and you end up with nice dry starts
The empty filter will need time to fill up. By the time the system is primed the crankshaft turned for a while with no pressure. For me it is kind of big deal. In my car the filter was horizontal, after a week half of the oil was back in the pan. I took quite long to build oil pressure. Once i unscrewed the filter after a week or longer, verry little oil has came out. Now i have the filter vertical facing down, much better. Same for oil changes. I run big filters and it took forever to fill the horizontal mounted filter. Now i can fil it up, scerw it in place. Instant oil pressure :)
Interesting, on startup (even sometimes once a month) my oil pressure has always been solid right out the gate. I planned on installing it this way for less spills when removing the filter. Where you running an oil temp thermostat when the drainage happened?

quality of your videos are getting way better keep it up
+joseph martinez That's good to hear! I'm always looking for new ways to improve. Thanks for the support.
You have your own style to your build videos. I like it. Mad respect on the 1JZ swap.

+Jrebel702 Thats what I love about this car, it can pull off any type build and it'll still look awesome!
Last time we spoke i said your editing was on point. you're getting so much better. good shit. keep em coming!
+zooted kabooted Thanks! If only we could film your car one of these days!
+M. Skoops call me on your next day off. Plenty of things going down in the next few days. Hope all a well and wish the misses well. tty soon bro.....
Nicely done and thank you for mentioning that thermostat isn't included. Very clean install.
I think this is my favorite car channel. It's weirdly relaxing, and also like the opposite of haggard garage.
+OafBoaster You just made my day! I really enjoy haggard garage and looks fun but my whole goal is to learn as much I can and try to stay legit.
We miss you man! Come back!
Great video bro
Solid video!
+LamaJ4m24 I try sometimes :P

honestly if i were to do it again i would get the greddy or mishimoto kit
This was intresting to watch, I learned something new! How was your Christmas man?
+Filthy Media Thanks! My Christmas was pretty good, got to spend some overdue time with family and such. Hope yours was good too :)
Great video!

+Starving African I know right. I wish I had the time to upload more often. Sorry for the wait ;;

Is your car trouble do u need to have a car that has terrible or non-turbo
It's been several years since the installation now. How do you like the kit? No pressure issues?

Nice video but won't you leak oil every time you change filter? Maybe turn that piece around?
+Nicholas Ramlogan Actually mounting it this way lets the filter drain after the car shuts off :)

You used this universal kit for your sc and no dilemmas ?
Wrong filter orientation.

What's going to dry out, the filter?

Only a sandwich plate for sensors at the time. I only added the relocation kit because the long pressure building was annoying.
+M. Skoops Word! Thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure to cover any problems with it if i run into them in the future.
how is it holding up so far?
did u end up installing the thermostat and where did u order it from? I have the same kit as but need the built in thermostat
Saif Kurdi no I haven't. I'm actually considering buying a different kit from either greddy or mishimoto with the built in one.
Did you really say that you stop the project cuz your girlfriend needs gifts and those come out or your sweat????
She sounds like a GOLD digger man lol drop her and build your dream car. If she don't support that she's the wrong one for you
Heh, You guys are a trip! What I meant by that was prioritizing funds for the holidays. A supporting relationship goes both ways^^
Well that's legit now then lol
ohh ok bud.Sorry for the misunderstood. But yeah, as esko lopez said don't stop with your dream, keep going on and ignore what haters say.
guess youve figured out by now why mounting that filter vertically was a bad (messy) idea... otherwise- good job.
nice
hello need know what oil filter you use
Hi! I use the Mobile 1 filter part# M1-102
Girlfriend priorities... smart guy!!! ; P
She supports my hobby so it's best to be on her good side haha
Outro song?

+M. Skoops thank you kind sir, been loving this build, always loved the vip look. the oil cooler looks good too and it's a simple mod
+Diaan McKay I appreciate your support. I'm diggin the vip race feel it has.
Va! hell yea what part?
