The old stock Chinese-Canadians are still here with over 6-7 generations you can't even tell if they are even Asian until they tell you their family name, it's mostly those from Hong-Kong and Mainland China that moved elsewhere or back to the mainland for better living standards where the purchasing power of the dollar goes much further.

I think it’s important to mention that there has been a sizeable Chinese population in Canada since the 1700s, before confederation. They were one of the founding minorities of Canada and built the railroad that links the country, and also had entire ethnic Chinese majority cities in BC around the 1800s. Unfortunately history pretty much ignores them despite the sizeable role they played in the beginning of Canada.

My friend, the ‘most Chinese’ store you’re taking about is making the most of the Chinese new year that’s around the corner. They’re trying to sell to people prep’ping for new year, that’s why all things are red in that store. The packet in the dried food store was a packrr we r of dried shiitake mushroom. You’ve eaten all of these things one way or another in China, I guess.
Also, another packet you said didn’t know what it was that looked like twigs are ginseng that happened to be grown in Canada.
    It said Canadian ginseng.
We here in America have American ginseng. Very good for your health.
I’m happy to help you learn about our food.

Canadian Ginseng is basically known in China as "American Ginseng". I was surprised to even see fresh ginseng at local supermarkets for around $13.00/lbs. Traditional wild ginseng can fetch up to $10,000usd/lbs so $40.00 for Canadian ginseng is basically very inexpensive as they consider it "fake ginseng" !

in China, pricing is like 2-tiered. Modern/westernized restuarants/services like what you would expect are basically on par with Canada. But there's also a tier that's quite a bit cheaper mostly consisting of dirty looking hole in the wall places that still taste quite good.
Housing is similar with Canada in absolute terms, but because Canadians still generally make more money, it's actually more expensive.

British Columbia is populated by a lot of Chinese. Ontario is by a lot of Indians. Quebec is being Islamicized. Quebec has a problem, the two other provinces do not. .

The Chinese stores in Canada aren't more Chinese than the ones in China because you will see that they often carry food for Filipinos and sometimes for Indians as well. Sometimes they also carry food from the Caribbean.
The Chinese communities are often found in north GTA.
Chinese used to be the largest visible ethnic minority group in Canada but that changed long ago. South Asians now very far outnumber Chinese. Almost all South Asians are from India.
In 2022, 118,095 Indians (from India) immigrated to Canada. On the other hand, 31,817 people from China immigrated to Canada. 118,095 Indians vs. 31,817 Chinese. HUGE difference. The numbers for the other years are similar to 2022 with Indians far outnumbering Chinese.

I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that citizens of China are making more money now so they don't need to leave for opportunities in Canada.

@@KouroshKamyabiIt's the same for many countries other than India. If you look at the IT market you get good pay in the South Asian region other than India. Canada's economy is hurting bad and it allows for some employers to violate human rights and overwork employees and for new immigrants starting a new life is out of the question.

Thats what I felt in Australia, I am asian myself but I was shock to see so many familiar faces in the mall it was like I never left the country. Then I went to london for a week it was the same thing. I was expecting you know white people but seeing so many Asian speaking british is mindfuck to me.
