      @@erockscott1184replying so quite an old comment here, but i recommend Ernie Ball flats. i currently have a set of cobalt 50-105 on my Squier CV ‘60s J bass, and they take some wearing in but they sound and play great. you might have to re-setup your bass a tad but that’s the case when changing to different strings for anything

    I used to be one of those bassists who would ignore anything Squier, however I got out of that phase and I realized: I LOVE SQUIER! Especially the Classic Vibe series which blows most MIM Fenders and even some MIA made one
    out of the water! Absolutely great for gigging and recording use! I’ll definitely get this bass in the future!
    UPDATE/EDIT: I ordered an excellent second hand one for $250 along with some other stuff and it’s coming in two days! I can’t wait!!!!
    Edit again: I got it! It came with a set of dirty old Flatwound strings! I love the bass and it’s tone! I got it so cheap second hand because there was a gash on the bottom of the body and some dings but that doesn’t bother me at all! It gives me that roadworn vibe, I’m gonna create more dings on it 😊

    I've had mine in this exact colour for a month and I've been playing the hell out of it. The surprising thing is that it doesn't drop out of tune it came with a perfect set up out of the box and it's been smooth as butter.

    I tried one today. I have to get one. I am always impressed by the sound that comes out of those Squiers. My first Squier was a Strat and it sounded awesome, enough to piss off a friend who had a 1200$ Ibanez and was looking for a sound. Eh, 500$ (can) I had an amp a gig bag and the instrument. My second is a Jazz bass vintage 70's modified, I can't depart from it. That yellow thing has a Mojo or something... I sure will get that P-bass I tried today... matter of a few days...

  • @oldasrocks9121

    Got one open box from a big retailer. Swapped the neck for a rosewood MIM Standard Jazz neck, lefty reversed, bone nut, NOS 70's Schaller tuners, the zinc saddles for steel, Pure Vintage '63 pickup, CTS electrics, Thomastik Infield flats, Fender covers on principle, resold the original neck and pickup for almost 2 Franklins back.
    BUT could have just done the pickup, saddles, electrics, got long stem Gotoh vintage style tuners, and TI flatwounds, done the fretwork myself, and still been out the door for under $600 taxed and shipped. Best mod platform from Fender/Squier in this product cycle, it's easy to build an instrument that will shame a MIM Fender Player. And go in any sonic direction pickup wise. Great stuff.

      @nickdrey1200 Рік тому +1

      So, I have no way of knowing what you went with, but I figured I'd shed some light on this decision for you, and for any others in the future who come across your comment, with the same feeling.
      A Stingray4, we will talk about the Sterling models , as they are to EBMM as Squier is to Fender. There is the Ray24 and Ray34. 24 is the model comparable in price to the Squier CV p bass. The ray24 is a wonderful instrument, it hits the nail on the head in terms of the stingray sonic capabilities. The preamp is 3-band which is nice to have, but not always necessary and I would even say a bit of a distraction for a new player. Although, just leaving it all wide open sounds very cool. The ray24 doesn't feel cheap, it doesn't look cheap and it sure as hell doesn't sound cheap. The thing to keep in mind is that rays put out a sound that is very distinct. Not everyone enjoys it. It's a wayy more aggressive sound.
      Squiers CV lines of guitar and basses, over the last couple of years, have become absolutely amazing instruments. The Strats are god damn amazing. But we talking about the p bass here. In my opinion, if you are on the market for your first bass guitar, this is it. Any of the CV models of p bass are the best first bass. I enjoy them all, but have only kept my black on black maple neck CV70. The P bass is the preferred bass for a ton of studio engineers as it just plugs in and puts out a tone in a frequency that sits perfectly where it should in a mix. If you ever go to a studio for a session, you are very very likely to record a few takes with your other bass and then be handed a 'house bass' and surprise, it's a P bass lmao. I had a friend with a custom Dingwall and a Warwick Thumb 5. He did 5ish takes on each and the engineer has this look on his face, you can tell he was just not liking how they sounded and played in the mix. He hands the bass player and 800 dollar, old ass, beat up P bass with a piece of insulation foam under the strings right in front of the bridge. One take. Boom, sounded perfect in the mix.
      So, get a p bass, if you like it at all. It will allow you to focus purely on playing and you won't have to fuck around with a preamp , as they are almost pointless unless you frequently play in venues of different sizes. In those cases, being able to roll your mids up and down can really help you control how your bass sounds in the high air of a venue.
      Hope this helps. Squier CV, and more recently 40th anniversary, P basses rule

    Funny. All these CV 60s P Bass videos, and nobody has the good sense to lash a set of flats on them. You'd sell a lot more. Just sayin.

    I hear no difference between the two basses. If there is , just adjust the amp. Not sure why Fender would make a bass, call it squire and say its beginners level or lower price for everyone. It makes no sense paying four times more for a name. If it bothers you, just sand the squire name off.

    Oh my God, that headstock shape is so wrong, when you buy a vintage re-issue from Squier, especially a Classic Vibe, you expect a bit of accuracy
