It can indeed be opened already, but atm we did not "advertise on it" since there might be some stability issues till we're fully done with the game. As the game's in Alpha, we're constantly improving scripts, lightings, models, LODs, assets overall, SFXs, etc. So when done, Editor will be fully polished and ready to roll out for anyone that wants to use it 🙂

There are "seasonal" currents in the sea of different temperatures but they tend to stick to specific routes (El Nino & La Nina) but the ocean tends to stay a uniform temperature but its more dependant on how deep you are, close to volcanic activity etc which is why life survives better in seas during global catastrophes

    • @vforwombat9915

@@vforwombat9915 your referring to the thermocline, it creates a layer of 'warm' water that has its own currents due to heating and cooling while not mixing with the more stable deeper water, the depth of it varies from place to place depending on a dozen different factors but normally its around 100-200 meters. If you assume in game you are building within that zone and the meteor messed up the normal Thermohaline circulation (say by hitting the arctic) you could see some quite drastic seasonal temperature changes.
Then of course its the fact that all that is irrelevant as its a game and you are building automated buildings in seconds, but its a fun thought experiment as to 'what if'

Seems like the design of this game could have expanded the pipe system so that you choose what travels along the connectors. So you could have Pipes for all liquids and gases, Wiring for high voltage electricity, People Tubes, and Goods Tubes. The more of them you combine the less resources they individually require, but when any one of the breaks down then it can cause that whole section of connector to go offline until it's fixed (depending on the combo).
Something a little extra to add a bit of traffic design to this colony sim.

Once like 40 orcas beached 3km away from my workplace and we spent the next 3 days sending them back to the sea, sadly 3 didn't survive.
Funny how everyone who sees dolphins are like "oh so cute! so playful!" and orcas (which are dolphins too, the more you know) are like "scary! killer whales!"...
Fun fact, never in the history of humankind has a wild orca killed a human (unlike wild dolphins that have at least 1 confirmed case that i remember)! Like a re-skin of some old landlubber colony builder but they tinted everything blue and added "Sea" to all the names. Seriously, way too much blue in the UI. And that grid view trashes the nice ocean. Devs should ask themselves what's _different_ about underwater buildings/colonies compared to land-based ones, and lean into that difference.

Just a thought but, you mention daisy chaining buildings.... Interesting idea here - what if only specific buildings could be daisy chained? Buildings that are the same like connecting multiple turbines link together to create a bigger turbine facility? Also buildings that cooperate together such as a depot and a gathering facility, or oil and an oil refinery.
Doing it that way makes that planning you mentioned extremely important since you can increase the cost of pipelines to make it so you really want to plan ahead so you can save on pipelines.
I actually enjoy the fact building pipeline connections are limited, it makes perfect sense as it's kinda weird when you connect pipelines at the ass end of a building where it has no business being, and it also adds the ability to create visual effects such as ports for the building to connect and make it obvious this is where the pipe connects to.

First thing loading into the game and instantly there is a problem. Having colour-coded areas like that is not good. I struggled to tell some of the colours apart, and struggled matching the colours on the key with those on the terrain.

You've built on top of natural sponges. That would cripple sponge production, I guess.

Orca's are beautiful whales. And they are not as dangerous as people are believed to think.

Surface water is always warmer than deep water due to convection. On the surface, warmer currents run north and south away from the equator. Below, on the ocean floor, colder currents run south and north towards it.
These lower cold currents actually operate in reverse of the seasons on the surface, so it would be a cold summer current if you were on the ocean floor.

I'm glad I now have the narrative in my head of some whale-handler accidentally kicking an orca's bowl of weeties into the water on their way past and the orca eating a small child in retaliation.

its more like a lack of the sun heating the water but currents can carry warmed water through the ocean, but that amount of water would suck the heat out of such currents so fast that warm water wouldnt travel very far as warm water. I could be wrong though.

I knew it looked too much like Patron so I took a look at the steam page and sure enough the publisher is the same as the people that made it. It has a different dev team though so I hope this is a more polished product than Patron was or else hand me that big red nose and clown shoes.
