Looking forward to more on this topic! Recently picked up a 05 Frontier with no AC. So I will be going down this exact same path.
Plain and simple, straight to the point...great video 😎👍🏽
Thank you. 👍🏻
Wow, I'm not even done watching the entire video, and well done sir!!!!
You earned a sub just for labeling the parts.
Very interesting video. I have an LLY Dmax with what sounds like a noisy compressor clutch bearing. Not sure if I should try and replace the clutch by itself or the entire compressor but this has given me a lot of great information.
I Thought you were going to show where the leak was coming from.
I really liked this video. Very systematic and clear but I was wondering if there is a part 2.
Nice video thank you!
So when you specified what a short cycle is, the compressor engaging and disengaging, what is the significance of that?
Also, what does it mean if My compressor just stays on steady, and doesn't blow cold air?
Great video! Would’ve loved to see everything mentioned at 10:35 though too.
Good video even though you don't say anything!! Very helpful but we still don't know if you had a leak, fixed it or what. Was there a leak if so where and most importantly THANKS!!!!
Turns out it had a small leak at the charge port in the high side, very common on GM vehicles. Replaced the charge port valve and have had cold air all summer.
Hey Mr Subaru! I just replaced all the components in my Honda Accord(compressor, condenser, dryer, evaporator, and expansion valve). And it won’t hold a vacuum. I plan on using this method to find the leak. My question is am I going to lose pag oil with the Freon/ dye leaking out? Alldata suggest putting 25 ml after repairing any leaks. But I don’t want to over fill.
I wouldn't worry about adding any oil, provided you added the correct amount of oil to each component during replacement.
I don't know if you can speak but this is a thumbs up video. Thanks for your time on making this video
In your comments, always put links to the products and tools you used, in this case the dye chemical. What did you use to clean up the dye?
amzn.to/2MAZlVF this is the kit I have.
I'd check if a/c system requires some PAG oil to maintain seals and compressor lubrication, maybe tubes seals are dry if it's not have been working in a long period.
R-134a systems do require PAG oil for compressor lubrication and, to a lesser degree, moisture management.
What if your compressor doesn't engage when you try to push refrigerant through? Do you have to fix that before firing dye through? System is empty -- there is a leak ./..
If you inject refrigerant and dye and there is a leak, it will still leak out where the leak is.
Why does the videos thumbnail have a different uv dye injector ?
well . - i love that there is absent techno super loud music in back ground -
but I would love to see how you evacuate and pull vacuum...but because it is a closed system you already know that there is a small leak.. so why spend time pulling vacuum? and did you find leak - ? how do you evacuate system - and when recharging the system - do you just use the chart and pressure to get the system filled - ? since it is not empty - it is a roll of the dice to not overfill - correct? - nice video nice big letters - love the no extra unnecessary words or talking - very refreshing on how to...
I have a ln a/c recovery machine. Just used the gauges to show that it can be done with fairly affordable tools. There happened to be a small leak at the high side service port. Took about a month to leak down. You pull a vacuum to remove air and boil out any moisture from the system. To correctly charge the system, my truck took 2lbs. I just shot 2 1lb cans into it. If you have a large canister of refrigerant, you charge the system with the canister in a refrigerant scale. If the system requires 2 lbs, add refrigerant until the scale shows 2lbs less than where the weight started.
If you're topping up a low system, you add until the pressures are in line with an R134A refrigerant pressure/temp chart.
do you have a link for recovery tool?
i have gauges and vacuum already -
It was $6,000. Not really something a DIYer wants to invest in.
Man! I literally have a leak on my AC right now!
HI MrSubaru 1387. Friend i have a problem with my subaru tribeca 2008 it has a code P 0305 and P0306 I changed all spark plug but i don't know wich one is the cilinder 6 i looked online but i don't found nothin would you can help me in that indentification
Cylinder 5 and 6 are the rear most cylinders. Did you get the misfire before or after changing plugs?
before and I saw videos on youtube and I bought the spark plugs because the car was shaking, it went on chek ing I put a scaner and the code P0305 P0306 was still shaking I think it was a coil

Made sure the coils were plugged in fully?
yes
That’s a manly beard 😎
Thanks. 👍
I have issue with my 04 ll bean I keep getting the p420 code but it comes and goes
Also have a clunk when going to take off
P0420? Catalyst efficiency below threshold?
Could be a number of things. Transmission mount, pitch stopper, engine mount, etc.
It’s a car code it off right now it will come on when it decides too
What kind of vacuum pump is that?
Robinair amzn.to/2KQ2rnx
So what was the issue? Low on freon? Thanks for the vid
My boy is into subaruz and he don't talk either.
Where is the leak???!
Why didn't you show us?
A lot of refrigiant you bought!
I have a recovery machine. They require the 30lb canisters. Used the gauge since most DIYers don't own a $6,500 a/c recovery machine. I believe the leak was the high side schrader valve. Common a/c leak source on GM vehicles.
@@MrSubaru1387
So how did you stop the leak? Did you just have to replace the Schrader valve or line?
snap on tool
Yea. Have quite a bit of Snap-on tools. Haha
Are you a mute or something?
This shit is so annoying all im trying to find is how to put this little bottle of dye into my ac system
Every video has different bottles or hoses or pumps or these sticks you twist that are all bought separately
Why is there not just a cheap easy all in one kit with instructions
Ive already bought a can of referigerant with a hose, are you telling me I have to buy a whole other tool and a different type of hose with the same port just so I can add this little 3 dollar bottle of dye
A/C repair is expensive for a reason...
@@MrSubaru1387 Oh goodie, I already know the problem is either the accumulator or condenser. I was going to do a dye leak test to find out which was the problem but by this point it'll be cheaper to just buy and replace both the accumulator and condenser
