- In today's episode, i wanted to give you an update on my 2007 Dodge ram 1500. It has been two years after fixing the rust with POR15 and raptor liner to paint the outside of the truck and I figured this would be a good time now to provide you an update.

for under side wire brush all chunks off frame and areas or any rust even surface rust. then use a lanolin based product called Surface Sheild, by a company called blaster, they make PB Blaster, the best rust penetration oil. This produce Surface Sheild creeps and soaks in to the metal and displaces any water or moisture and coats the metal and forms a barrier so that rust (oxidation) can't occur. It keeps salt from contacting the surface, do this once a year with an undercoating gun and cavity wand inside frames and you will keep things from rusting. you can do inside the door panels and rockers and cab corners as well. Just a heads up, there are great youtube videos on this as well from a guy called- repair geek . that raptor looked great when you sprayed it too!

Im on my third gen3 ram and all I can say is no matter what you do, you cant fight nature. Dodge and rust are synonymous. Always enjoyed the videos of your ram and hate to see it go but excited for what comes next!

Yes truck update!!!!!! ..... Noooo final update!!!! And BTW use Fluid Film or other oil/wax based spray before each winter to prevent rust (along with mud flaps to prevent the body/frame sand blasting).
I agree! Raptor liner is fine (especially for a temp fix), but if it chips and gets water and/or salt underneath it, you're pretty much screwed because you won't see the rust until it goes all the way through.

You should have used some plastic primer or there adhesion spray on the plastic :) On the chrome i would have epoxy primed first

I'm surprised an epoxy liner didn't stick better. I'm wondering if the adhesion spray you used might have been the culprit. I have regular flat epoxy paint over my chrome bumper, and it's doing great after two years.

Ishin, I noticed your English language usage. I am an English teacher. Your usage of the language is excellent. I could guess several things; You studied ESL in the States, and you studied your major subjects in the English language while in the States. You currently read intensively in the English language, and Also, you moved to the States sometime after 13 years of age.
If you took the IELTS test, I could guess you scored very high. 8.5
Raptor liner is not waterproof it let's moisture through that's why it is rusting. The only thing that will last is epoxy metal primer. Need to sand the surface with 220 grit to 400 grit and even then it will rust.
What did you use to get your wheels to stick out that far? Spacers? Offset?
Never used raptor liner before, but can you paint over the top of it to seal it in?
damn dude, you didn't spray the bare metal, especially the chrome, with U-pol acid etch primer. That's why it's not sticking well, I even would have done it on that front bit where you didn't want to sand. Always use the Acid etch primer, or any etch primer on bare metal after sanding with 80-120 grit
