    Love it! Gawd where have u been all my life gurl?! Seriously I needed this like a year ago lol I did wanna ask u why u didn't choose a flat iron just so u could easily hit it on both sides without worrying about the surface below being heat resistant etc just seems easier but I assume maybe it's for a reason maybe irl s get a lot hotter ?

    • @doctoredlocks
      @doctoredlocks  7 місяців тому

      Aww, making me blush :) This method allows for more steam so that the heat really penetrates the core of the dread which is where the magic happens.

    Great video...can you crothet silky kankelon hair instead of twist and seal? I am really struggling working with it but colours i want only have it in silky hair..I just prefer crothet method for myself ❤❤

      You can, it just might be a little more difficult because of the silky texture.

    Hi! I've been wanting synthetic dreads for years now, but my problem is - I cannot understand how are the big ones made? 90% of the synthetic dreads look thin - but I'm looking to make the kind that are thick, and basically make my head look much larger even when they're hanging down. Is that possible? Is so, how do I accomplish that? Thank you!

    How many packs of kanekalon hair do you need for a complete head? Making slim double ended dreads... Thanks

    • @doctoredlocks
      @doctoredlocks  3 роки тому +2

      This will depend on several factors including length, thickness and how many dreads you are wanting to create. I recommend 5-8 packs.

    hey ! i had a question : how and how many times a week should i wash my fake dreads ? thanks , great vidéo !

    • @doctoredlocks
      @doctoredlocks  7 років тому

      As many as you like, really. They don't need to be washed as much as your normal hair - and if you keep your scalp clean, they don't tend to need much at all. I usually go every other week - but its totally a personal preference. :)

    As a personal preference do you prefer synthetic over wool? Which would be lighter weight for an older person to wear?

    • @doctoredlocks
      @doctoredlocks  4 роки тому +3

      I prefer working with synthetic and wearing synthetic. That said, wool is lighter. There are pros and cons to both - I just really love manipulating synthetic fiber and the fact that the color never fades. :)

    I've tried the ironing method but the dreads just feel very rough almost fake like...I don't know if they're supposed to feel like that but I'm kinda thinking about trying the crocheting method and seeing how I like that.

    • @doctoredlocks
      @doctoredlocks  6 років тому

      Sounds like you may have gotten them a bit to hot - rough tends to happen when they get a big melty - which happens when your towels dry out. Steam heat will keep the fiber safe. Crochet method is pretty great too though. I recommend this crochet hook: www.doctoredlocks.com/crochet-hook-with-ring-5-1-5mm-hooks.html It will save your thumb from cramping up. :)

    Hey you probably don’t see these anymore but I need help! 😭lol is there a way to create a bend in the middle of a double ended dread? I recently spent a good amount of money on nice nice dread extensions but there is no bend or give at all in the middle. I hope you can help please. Thank you!!!

    • @doctoredlocks
      @doctoredlocks  2 роки тому

      Yes! If you bend it at the center, dip it into boiling water and then lay it to cool in that shape, it will keep the bend.

  • @QueenOfHearts666

    I'm scared of melting the hair with the iron.. What setting do you recommend??

    • @doctoredlocks
      @doctoredlocks  7 років тому +1

      I recommend doing a test setting - every iron is different. I always go on feel. It will be in a range of ineffective, working, then slight melting (though if you have enough steam in your towels, it can be very high and never melt).

    Is there a way to dread a synthetic wig like this without braiding in more synthetic hair like most of the videos I've seen?

    • @doctoredlocks
      @doctoredlocks  7 років тому +2

      Yes, you basically just use these same techniques - but don't seal too close to the base. Most wigs you will need to add extra hair because if you don't, they can become too scalpy, which exposes the wefts. But if you leave it a bit more loose at the top and dread below the weft exposure points, it will be finer and look more real. I would also recommend using a wig that has a skin look top that can be parted in many directions - this will help it look much more realistic. :)

    About how long will 24” kanekalon be once finished? I feel like it will shorten but idk.

    • @doctoredlocks
      @doctoredlocks  2 роки тому +2

      Honestly, that depends on your personal backcombing technique. I don't tend to lose any length because some of my pieces stay long while others are backcombed into the longer bits. There are some people that like a really tight bulky backcomb and they can lose up to 12" - it all depends on your technique and design. :)

    How hot is your iron?

    • @doctoredlocks
      @doctoredlocks  3 роки тому +2

      You need the iron hot enough to produce steam when you hit the wet towel.
