- Paula Vennells is giving evidence for a second day at the Post Office inquiry after breaking down in the witness box three times on Wednesday.
The former chief executive of the Post Office blamed senior colleagues for failing to give her the unvarnished reality of the Horizon system and the company’s history of prosecutions, but the leading campaigner Lord Arbuthnot said she was either “not telling the truth” or incompetent.

It would be very interesting if your colleague Jason Beer KC would ask Paula Vennels why she keeps repeating that she never knew anything about Bugs in the Horizon system until 2013, but former Member of Parliament Lord Arbuthnot of Edrom has stated online that when he contacted the post office in 2011 on behalf of Alan Bates Justice for Subpostmasters Alliance that he received a reply from Paula Vennels stating that she would look into into the problems with the Horizon computer system, so she is blatantly lying... thank you.

Criminals were controlling the system remotely and altering figures deliberately- hardly a 'bug'. Innocent people were jailed and their assets were stolen- sounds like organised crime to me.

What was done to the Postmasters and their families was CRIMINAL at best, downright heinous and evil at worst, and EVERYONE responsible for it needs to go to jail, pay reparations and apologize for the damage.

It's amazing that the outbreak of mass amnesia affecting all these highly-paid Post Office executives, with their constant reiterations of "I don't remember," has so far not caused the prosecutors in this case to cry out: "Oh no, not another one!"

It just demonstrates how these people at the top of industry are totally inept, and have only got to these positions because of who they know and not their actual ability to do the job. It's disgraceful, before each post office representative answers the questions they look at the laptop screen in front of them and the Post Office Barrister who is listening in provides them with the answer they should give. It's like going into an exam at School with all the answers on a notepad. How on earth is this legal, it's to make sure the Post Office doesn't get sued.
Let's use her, not so hard earned cash to help pay for these people, who's lives were made a misery.

It's getting down to the nitty gritty now, and who knew exactly what and when... The very thought of a company CEO *not* knowing about *major* issues with the software the company was using - and ongoing prosecutions resulting from it, is utterly ridiculous. What we're seeing now is a barrage of " I can't recall", "I can't remember" and " I have no knowledge of that". Someone here is going to end up doing jail-time, and they're all hell bent on trying to ensure it isn't them......

This Inquiry has been broadcast in full for its entire duration, and every piece of evidence can be read and/or downloaded by anyone from the Inquiry's website. I'd think that it's going to be tricky to pull off a cover-up, given how the sheer volume of evidence already in the public domain... indeed, police investigations against certain individuals are already underway. Alan Bates of the Justice For Subpostmasters' Alliance met with the police yesterday, and although he (naturally) couldn't name names, he said he was pleased with what the police are doing.
