I for one would absolutely love to see a biopic about Don Bluth. It is one I would definitely go see. His story is one that has always fascinated me to no end.
I so wish Don Bluth (and Gary Goldman) could've had the creative freedom to just go do whatever they wanted, because I get the feeling they'd have made stuff like Bartok, which is one of my favorites of his. It's not the best, but it feels like an unrestrained fun ride.

I do think the ending to Anastasia was rushed a bit, mainly the climax with Rasputin. But the "liar reveal" was understandable. Dimitri was confident that Ayna would be instantly recognized because she is the princess. He says "if you'd just look at her" to her Grandma Marie. He was originally going to use the music box to trick Marie into thinking whoever he brought with him was the princess. In this case the box wasn't needed because she's the real deal. The music box would have worked in the first scene too, but it was too hectic and he wasn't expecting to be outed as a con man then thrown out. He had to get her in a secluded area where she was forced to listen. Even then the box was to show that he was that little boy, and she owes enough to him to indulge his request to see Anya. Even then, she at first doesn't recognize Anya, calling her a good actor. The box still wasn't enough. Anya recognizing the smell of her perfume and knowing the story of spilling it is what convinced Marie to start to believe it. The flow of scenes still felt natural and the script followed the "show don't tell" rule well.
This ranking is really well done! Don Bluth wasn’t always perfect, but I’m glad he made something different and inspirational for animated films. But to be perfectly honest, the only film I care from Don Bluth (and Gary Goldman) is Anastasia. Anastasia slaps, even with the inaccurate story, I love the movie so much, Once Upon a Dream and In the Dark of the Night are the best songs ever.
12:04 I heard that John Lasseter (I know, I know) was so unsatisfied with Toy Story 2 during production that he hit the reset button, and he and his friends re-wrote it in only ONE WEEKEND, yet that somehow came out a million times better. Lol
Fievel Goes West, was, better, than, it should have been, the other two, were, just terrible, at least, they quit, while, they, were, behind, unlike, TLBT.
I agree that we shouldn’t gloss over Gary Goldman and his work with Don Bluth. It’s kinda how I feel about Isao Takahata is sometimes forgotten about when Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli are brought up. Although I do have a bias towards Miyazaki’s films over the other directors from the studio, I acknowledge that Takahata’s role as colleague and co-founder of Ghibli is partly the reason why Ghibli has become successful in the first place. Plus, I think Takahata’s contribution as producer in Miyazaki’s earlier films (i.e. “Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind” & “Castle In The Sky”) are the reason why those films leave such an emotional, memorable impact on so many people, and would be the blueprint for much of Ghibli films going forward. Long story short, I think the same can be said about Gary Goldman and his relationship with Don Bluth as well.
Perhaps, but, it, was, hit, with, massive, Sequelitis, and, Franchise Fatigue, to the point where the original's reputation has been tarnished, if only minorly.
It all ready happened, Don Bluth Productions helped set up an animation course for Ballyfermot College of Further Education in Ireland. Tomm Moore, Nora Twomey, and Paul Young all graduated from the animation degree course from the same College. The three artists would form Cartoon Saloon.
@@matthewdaley746 And also the fact as they're good sequels and I may prefer them over the original, as I see Fievel Goes West as my fav Don Bluth sequel. XD (I did saw it first before the OG, and I thought it was the original in 91.)
@@erindelgado9639 To each their own, the last, TLBT, could only be purchased, by mail, and, the franchise only stopped because the animation department at Universal folded, that's a very telling collection of facts, no question about it, and, a terrible fall from grace, not, saying, just saying.
Interesting, in-depth look at Bluth's influence on animation. You mentioned Gary Goldman. But, don't forget Don's second creative partner, John Pomeroy.., a producer and an incredible "2-D" animator... part of a team of stellar artists from the early days starting with "NIMH"....
I have A Troll in Central Park at the bottom but I am one of like 7 people who actually saw Titan AE in the theater and it pretty much left no impact on me and I don't remember almost anything about it so I agree with it being very low on the list. We all knew what the top 3 were going to be even if the order is disputable
The only good things about Troll In Central Park are the animation and imagining Stanley with the dialogue of other Dom Deluise characters. Seriously, someone should dub Stanley with lines from Dom's Julius Cesar from History Of The World Part 1.

I like the ranking and especially you ranking my favorite film as number 1 which made me cry with joy. Indeed, Bluth did wonders in some tales and gave animation a name for kids and adults alike that changed the way we think of animated films forever 🥲🌟💖
11. Only saw this 2 or 3 times, and I was pretty ambivalent towards it. At least some of the visuals were neat. 10. In my book, Worst! Bluth Movie! EVER! 9. A rotten egg no doubt, but I'll admit there's a few amusing moments for me. You can blame nostalgia on that. 8. I like the animation, two of the songs and the Gilbert Gottfried beetle, but everything else was weak. Also, I really hate that harlequin bird. 7. Outside of some story issues, I'd say this was still a good dog. 6. Enjoyed this as a kid, not quite so much as an adult. Although, the colors and arctic backgrounds are somewhat captivating, most of the songs were pleasant, and Rocko was a decent character. 5. Up until the villain turned into a dragon, I was rather bored by this one. 4. Historically inaccurate? Yes. Still a fair flick? Yes. 3. Yeah, I also wish we got more of Tiger here. Beyond that, it's a great piece of historical fiction. 2. A wonderful source of dark storytelling, and with one of the best mothers in animation. 1. This is also my favorite from Bluth, even if its partly because of both nostalgia and my love of dinosaurs.

Ah yes! Titan A.E who's like Treasure planet if it was boring. The hero had a father-son relation with his mentor, just like Jim and Silver. He had unfunny friends like BEN the robot. At least Jim wasn't a jerk with girls and he didn't fight aliens with boring designs. Also, i can't remember any scene from this movie. It's really bad! The animation is good and the music too but it's not enough to make this film memorable 😐 Thumbelina is ok to me. I like the songs and the animation, the music is sumptuous. The rest is repetitive and not exciting or cute. It's more dissapointing than anything else.
In the Cancelled Sequel "Treasure Planet 2", Jim Hawkins, in the beginning, would have a rivality with his Love Interest: Kate Blake, and later they would fall in love, like Cale Tucker and Akima Kunimoto in Titan A.E.

Anyways, all I'm saying is I disagree with your rankings, that's all. An American Tail is a really amazing film, and it's a 10/10 film overall in my opinion.
As much as I love the Land Before Time. I think my favorite out of the 3 would still be An American Tail. I can't say the Secret of Nimh, because I have honestly never gotten around to seeing that one, but I love An American Tail. I think the reason why I love it so much is because of my love for history, especially American History, and being Irish descent. An American Tail maybe the weakest out of the 3, but it really dove into just how immigrants were truly exploited by the corrupt politicians and how even to this day, that there are still flaws in America.
@@matthewdaley746 I should also mention that I did love All Dogs Go to Heaven as well, but I definitely do see the flaws in it. If the second half of it didn't jump off the page like it did. It could have made the best 3 a best 4.
Don has made some good ones and some really bad ones. I still believe in the theory he was drinking while developing all dogs go to heaven. I also do feel sorry for him that he only owns the IP to Dragon's Lair and nothing else but again thats what happen when you work for corporations. any time you sell a project to them you are required to sign work for hire contacts and thats what don did.
Sharptooth is first, because he, not, only killed Littlefoot's mother, he got a group of kids incensed enough to, straight-up, murder him, and, nobody, remotely, has a problem, with, that.
my ranking a troll in Central park is at the very bottom followed up on by tumbalina then the pebble and the penguin then anastasia then rock a doodle then titan ae then all dogs go to heaven and then the land before and then an American tail and then finally at the very top the secret of nimh
One of my favorites is The Pebble & The Penguin. I was expecting you to completely tear it apart. But I was happy with your neutrality. Hehe. I miss animated movies having weak vulnerable girls that can grow and learn. Seems like nowadays if they're not sassy and infallible right out of the gate, people will consider it sexist or something.
The Pebble and the Penguin better than All dogs go to heaven? You know what you just said? However for me 11) A troll in Central Park 10) The Pebble and the Penguin 9) Thumbellina 8) Rock a doodle 7) Bartok the magnificent 6) Titan AE 5) All dogs go to heaven 4) Anastasia 3) An american tail 2) The land before time 1) The secret of Nimh
More or less agree with your list. Disagree with your assessment of Titan A.E. (#3 on my list) and I have Secret of N.I.H.M. as my #1. 1.) Secret of NIHM 2.) A Land Before Time 3.) Titan A.E. 4.) An American Tail 5.) Anastasia 6.) All Dogs Go to Heaven 7.) The Pebble and the Penguin 8.) Rock-a-Doodle 9.) Thumbalina 10.) Troll in Central Park 11.) Bartok (never saw it)
who was all dogs go to heaven made for ? probably the same people who liked the 1940 disney Pinocchio if you look at both movies their a lot alike with the tone whiplash with the drinking and gambling from a fox and cat who were just goofy scam artists to a guy who turn children into donkeys and monstro all with a cute puppet boy character design
You know, that makes a lot of sense as I also like Pinocchio and both can have the lead character earn big life lessons to earn their wings, saved someone who was close to death giving their lives in the end, have a buddy who is the voice of reason, pure nightmare fuel and we’ll seen as cult classics to this very day.
I think the Weakest Don Bluth Movies (Rock-a-Doodle, Thumbelina, A Troll in Central Park, The Pebble and the Penguin, All Dogs Go To Heaven and Titan A.E) had Actually *Potencial to be Really Good to Okay Movies, If they had been Better Writted!!*
I think the oddest part about that, is, that, TPATP, was, the only one that he seemed to have his name removed from, it, at least, had great music, strange.

My favorite from Don Bluth and Gary Goldman is An American Tail.
12:04 I heard that John Lasseter (I know, I know) was so unsatisfied with Toy Story 2 during production that he hit the reset button, and he and his friends re-wrote it in only ONE WEEKEND, yet that somehow came out a million times better. Lol
When you Review the "American Tail Sequels" and "An All Dogs Christmas Carol", does a Video Like this, Ranking All of the Don Bluth Sequels.
Fievel Goes West, was, better, than, it should have been, the other two, were, just terrible, at least, they quit, while, they, were, behind, unlike, TLBT.
I wish that the Don Bluth (and Gary Goldman) Filmography had Never Ended!
Honestly the later don bluth films have weird sexual undertones in general
You have to admit though, the animation is always stellar. Even if the story was not good, the animation was great
I must say the credits for land hefore time alone makes it perfect
Perhaps, but, it, was, hit, with, massive, Sequelitis, and, Franchise Fatigue, to the point where the original's reputation has been tarnished, if only minorly.
I hope more animation studios take influence from Bluth.
It all ready happened, Don Bluth Productions helped set up an animation course for Ballyfermot College of Further Education in Ireland. Tomm Moore, Nora Twomey, and Paul Young all graduated from the animation degree course from the same College. The three artists would form Cartoon Saloon.
We all know The Land Before Time Is eaily #1 ranked.
For, me, the parade of unnecessary sequels, and, terrible animated series, costs it the top spot, An American Tail, managed to restrain the chaos.
@@matthewdaley746 Okay then.
@@erindelgado9639 Additionally, wonderful, day, also.
Interesting, in-depth look at Bluth's influence on animation. You mentioned Gary Goldman. But, don't forget Don's second creative partner, John Pomeroy.., a producer and an incredible "2-D" animator... part of a team of stellar artists from the early days starting with "NIMH"....

Awesome Work Rasiorblade! 🌟
I need more of those ranking videos from you!!!! I'll quit candy for this!
@@jeremyusreevu237 Or dub his scene in Blazing Saddles to it hehehe
24:38 "Is there anyone out there who doesn't think this movie is great?"
Well I didn't saw this yet, so-
"Yea, that's what I thought, bitch!"
Oh, okay.
When it comes to wrecking down blues movie discount like comparing down Bluetooth Star Wars was good in the 70s it was really good in the 80s and the 90s was so great and it hopefully we're on the brink of a Revival
Are you gonna review the all dogs Christmas carol this December?
Hopefully, he reviews, it, and, the animated series, Steven Weber, was, no Burt Reynolds, but, he truly, was, a terrific improvement over Charlie Sheen.
Honestly, I thought Titan A.E. was okay. Flawed, but entertaining and okay at the same time.
I like the ranking and especially you ranking my favorite film as number 1 which made me cry with joy. Indeed, Bluth did wonders in some tales and gave animation a name for kids and adults alike that changed the way we think of animated films forever 🥲🌟💖
4:04 it’s worse than rocket doodle and troll in central park
16:35 And the ground
4:00 I was expecting one of those four movies.
I agree that the Land Before Time is Don Bluths greatest films in all of film history.
10:25 XD LOL! Remind yourself to never have kids in the future if you're not unhinged & homicidal.
11:57 Oh no, you disrespected Goldie, too? She was one of the redeeming qualities of this movie. 😏[For reasons...] I'm mostly kidding.
A Troll in Central Park is the worst
Yeah, even the music couldn't save it, Thumbelina's soundtrack, was, passable, to, great, though, Jodi Benson, was, wasted, really tragic.
Actually I thought Rock-a-doodle would be at the bottom. Then again I must have forgot.
here’s my three favorite don bluth movies
1:all dogs go to heaven
2:rock-a-doodle
3:a pebble and a penguin
if you disagree with me that’s okay if you do I’m happy with you
I agree mostly👍
Strangely enough I share a birthday with Don Bluth
I was born on September 13, 1995
I really enjoyed rock-a-doodle like it was really interesting.
Not stank shit 😂😂😂 bro you are hilarious !! New subbie ♥️
The Thumbnail Reminds Me A Lot Of Schaffrillas's
The animation is good and the music too but it's not enough to make this film memorable 😐
Thumbelina is ok to me. I like the songs and the animation, the music is sumptuous. The rest is repetitive and not exciting or cute. It's more dissapointing than anything else.
Jodi Benson's wasted, period.
In the Cancelled Sequel "Treasure Planet 2", Jim Hawkins, in the beginning, would have a rivality with his Love Interest: Kate Blake, and later they would fall in love, like Cale Tucker and Akima Kunimoto in Titan A.E.
@@omundodovini3774 Bizarre enough to succeed.
@@omundodovini3774 If there's any redeeming factor to Titian A.E is that Because BlueSky worked on the CG of the film, it's probably why Fox trusted them to make an animated film.
@@orangeslash1667 Blue Sky's, problem, was, Ice Age, made money in every country outside of the U.S., despite, ever-diminishing quality, its days, were, numbered.
My Ranking:
The Pepple and the Penguin 2/10
Thumbelina 2/10
A Troll in Central Park 4/10
Rock-a-Doodle 4/10
Titan After Earth 4/10
An American Tale 7/10
Bartoc the Magnificent 7/10
The Secret of NIHM 8/10
Anastasia 8/10
All Dogs Go to Heaven 9/10
The Land Before Time 10/10
An American Tail 6/10? I disagree. An American Tail is a 10/10 to me.
@@retrofan4963 Oh come on! Stop tormenting me. I thought you will never find me in this ranking video. Even Razor says An American Tail is the weakest from the top three. That's my ranking. That's it!
@@maurycyoseka1057 Is Razor's opinions on animated films should be considered facts? Even if he considers An American Tail to be the weakest in in top 3, it still made it to the top 3 anyway compared to other Bluth films that's not Secret of NIMH and Land Before Time. Anyways, all I'm saying is I disagree with your rankings, that's all. An American Tail is a really amazing film, and it's a 10/10 film overall in my opinion.
24:42 made me laugh the most
The subscribe button started to like shine in rainbow at the moment he said "subscribe button" lol am I the only one who saw that?
As much as I love the Land Before Time. I think my favorite out of the 3 would still be An American Tail. I can't say the Secret of Nimh, because I have honestly never gotten around to seeing that one, but I love An American Tail. I think the reason why I love it so much is because of my love for history, especially American History, and being Irish descent. An American Tail maybe the weakest out of the 3, but it really dove into just how immigrants were truly exploited by the corrupt politicians and how even to this day, that there are still flaws in America.
Additionally, Irish, favorite, also.
@@matthewdaley746 I should also mention that I did love All Dogs Go to Heaven as well, but I definitely do see the flaws in it. If the second half of it didn't jump off the page like it did. It could have made the best 3 a best 4.
@@marshallburlew7549 Unexpected problems annihilated it.
How sould you rank the Don Bluth Villains counting those from sequels and tv shows ?
Sharptooth is first, because he, not, only killed Littlefoot's mother, he got a group of kids incensed enough to, straight-up, murder him, and, nobody, remotely, has a problem, with, that.
my ranking a troll in Central park is at the very bottom followed up on by tumbalina then the pebble and the penguin then anastasia then rock a doodle then titan ae then all dogs go to heaven and then the land before and then an American tail and then finally at the very top the secret of nimh
Nice list.
All dogs go to heaven was my shit and is still the best
One of my favorites is The Pebble & The Penguin. I was expecting you to completely tear it apart. But I was happy with your neutrality. Hehe.
I miss animated movies having weak vulnerable girls that can grow and learn. Seems like nowadays if they're not sassy and infallible right out of the gate, people will consider it sexist or something.
Fabulous, soundtrack, truly, definitely.
The Pebble and the Penguin better than All dogs go to heaven? You know what you just said? However for me
11) A troll in Central Park
10) The Pebble and the Penguin
9) Thumbellina
8) Rock a doodle
7) Bartok the magnificent
6) Titan AE
5) All dogs go to heaven
4) Anastasia
3) An american tail
2) The land before time
1) The secret of Nimh
Secret of nimh should be number 1
More or less agree with your list. Disagree with your assessment of Titan A.E. (#3 on my list) and I have Secret of N.I.H.M. as my #1.
1.) Secret of NIHM
2.) A Land Before Time
3.) Titan A.E.
4.) An American Tail
5.) Anastasia
6.) All Dogs Go to Heaven
7.) The Pebble and the Penguin
8.) Rock-a-Doodle
9.) Thumbalina
10.) Troll in Central Park
11.) Bartok (never saw it)
who was all dogs go to heaven made for ? probably the same people who liked the 1940 disney Pinocchio
if you look at both movies their a lot alike with the tone whiplash with the drinking and gambling from a fox and cat who were just goofy scam artists to a guy who turn children into donkeys and monstro all with a cute puppet boy character design
@@erindelgado9639 When you look at Warren T. Rat from American Tail, he kinda looks like the Coachmen from Pinocchio. So it could be a possibly.
@@orangeslash1667 Huh interesting.
I don’t think Rasputin is that bad, in my opinion.

As a ranking member in the underrated and underappreciated film club I hear by revoke your credentials you lost all credibility when you put Titan AE at the bottom of this list
I bet that you and me would definitely let death from puss in boots the last wish beat Rasputin plus we all know the death is a much better villain than Rasputin is and definitely death will win the battle because Rasputin is pretty weak as a villain I hope you agree with me on this. And death is the king of all of the villains and he can beat the other villains with a 100% win because he’s the best villain I ever seen in a movie in a long while. And what do you think and I hope I’m right about death being the best villain of all time.
I agree with raisorblede I watched Tiain AE last week and it's boring the story is terrible the characters are not even great and the villains are not interesting movies was just boring I just didn't care about the story or the characters and the story is just confusing I was confused on what is was about story is just confusing
