Its insane what Steve Morris has accomplished. To have something like this be drivable on the street. Imagine this pulling up next to you at a stoplight. I would shit my pants.
In 1981 My father was the first guy to manufacture a 100% Billet Hemi head on a CNC for drag racing. My pops and Ken Veney always argued who was first but Ken made his on manual tooling🦾😎. Ken teamed up with Norm Drazy and his PSI single screw with a wiper. My father teamed up with Art Whipple and his dual screw on a combination for Walt & Pat Austin. Back then CNC ran off rolled of ticker tap that had punched out holes for the programming. I can’t remember how many operations there was but a single head took like 3-4 days running 24/7🤣. The idea for screw blowers came from Saw mills. They used them to extract the saw dust. By the time I was 11-12 and old enough to work on the car my father and his partner bought Blain & Alan Johnson’s championship alky dragster that ran the Oldsmobile wedge witch was the first Gen 481x . Back then a wedge headed engine had to weight 4 lbs per cubic inch while hemis had to weight 4.4. The OLDS was a Rocker Stud pulling SOB. Looking at the that Porsche reminded me how freaking hard it was to yard that heavy ass Whipple. I hated it so much I spent race weekends getting spoiled in Brad Anderson’s pit🤣. There was so much diversity back then in the Alcohol Ranks like Rick Santos in the S&S automotive TAD with a Screw on a Small Block Chevy in a car that weight 1,500 lbs. Thanks for the flash back down memory lane!!
This flipping car is like a Jetson's car. Seriously, it looks space age and incredible. I'm surprised that people haven't gone NUTS on getting that hat on their blowers. I bet it's so much better at the light as far as visibility. Man what a machine, Steve.
I love the big fish, Steve Morris logo/banner on the back wall. Says a lot about who you are. If I ever buy a big time race engine, I know where I’m buying it from.

@@kellyheath8547 Not all drag cars have torque converters... The more stall there is in the converter the more heat it generates and the less efficient it is. So, making more low end torque means you need less stall to get the same acceleration. At least with a somewhat heavy car a 1000hp small 4 cylinder won't be as fast as the same car with a larger 1000hp V8. The small engine just doesn't have as much of a powerband even if you put in a high stall converter.

Really nice job Steve! It's got to be making 2900, to make hub hp like that! I'm not a blower guy, but it's making really good power for only 33.5psi! I'm guessing it's in a really efficient area of the map @ the speed you're spinning it! Hopefully they could get the car worked out, so you can stand on her a little harder! Like you always say, no point of beating the life out of it, until you know the car can take it! I hope the blower works out for him, because we have all seen the issues they can cause trying to run them down the street! Beautiful torque curve!!! I'll take that set up over a turbo any day.
For sure. So many chase peak numbers and forget about the low end torque that gets things up and going off the line.
@@NBSV1 a drag car doesn't need low end, converter stall will be above that.
Too much torque is gonna limit you with wheelspin off the line. That’s what’s prochargers are nice for is low torque but enough peak power
