You're most welcome and you've come to the right place! I am 100% focused on Lightroom Cloud (Desktop and Mobile). I hope my other videos are helpful for you, too!
Man, for me, this CA tool works about 10% of the time. I have to refresh it a bunch then resort to directly telling it what the source pixels should be and even then it’s rolling the dice. 🎲
This was extremely well done. That was great to discuss the concept of object removal in such a thorough but concise way. As someone said below, you have a very calm teaching style along with a great voice and delivery.
As others have commented, I have not had good luck with Content Aware tool, and often it is so illogical and way off as to what it first grabs. However, wasn’t aware of the ability to bias the selection to a particular area, so excited about trying that. Similarly, heal tool often has a lot of trouble with borders and transition areas and creates muddy “smudges”. And clone tool is extremely finicky, because even if there is the slightest variation in tone or brightness, for example, the clone stamp looks so obviously different. Often, I find myself using a combination of clone and then heal. And although I also ideally like to remove the object/area in one action, sometimes the scene is so dense with changes that there is not enough room for LR to find suitable replacement and then need to do it in stages. The tip to create a straight selection is a good one i didn’t know, but sometimes I find that have a bit of movement in the selection creates a more natural result.
Your content / tutorials are SO clear and easy to understand, thanks! 👏🏻 EDIT: And now I finally know how to make a smaller selection INSIDE an existing / larger mask! Dude thanks again!!
Hey, my pleasure! Trust me, it drove me CRAZY that I couldn’t make selections within selections until I figured it out, so I’m pumped that it helped you, too!
A tip for visualizing dust - something that works way better is to crank Dehaze to 100. Fair warning, you will see so many dust spots that you'll want to cry, and you'll start cleaning your lenses and sensors much more often 😉
I found the same thing re photoshop vs lightroom. PS much better for removal. You think that adobe would just uplift the PS version of the code/ AI model and reuse it in lightroom
Didn't realise that interchangeability was possible with different tools. Thanks for great video. It's a shame that Adobe cannot get program techniques to the same level of accuracy for the same tools. There again, as you say, easy to swap.
Yeah, it's really important to let your selection spill over the actual border of what you want to remove. It'll allow LR to give you a better-blended result. And don't forget that you can CMD/CTRL click on a different area to tell LR where you want to sample from.
The tool works, kind of. In your initial demonstration it left blurry patches in the grass at the bottom of the image. Refresh doesn’t cure it, as it didn’t in your example. In other occasions it’s even more obvious, not a good result. BTW: the size of the tool can be changed via the scroll wheel, too.
Thank you for the high quality content. I have the iPad version of LR purchased via the Apple Store. My interface does not quite show the same as yours. Is there a difference between the iPad LR from the App Store versus the Subscription done with Adobe? or am I missing some settings?
Just wanted to say thanks, thanks, thanks! Your Show Overlay button hint has changed and greatly increased my use of the content aware fill. Unfortunately I work in LR Classic and it takes a few clicks to turn the overlay on/off. I use Always and Never, but it 2 clicks. Do you or anyone know a shortcut to making this switch in LR Classic. The rest of your tutorial gave me a cleare understanding of the tools and how to use. Thank you
Great video but in my Lightroom Classic I miss the bottom tools that let me «overwrite» a removed object area. Is this not active in Lightroom Classic?
What I ment was that the tools Visualise spots and Overlay were not shown as on your video, right under the refresh button. But I found them on the toolbar under the picture (in my Lightroom Classic). Works fine now👍🏻
That tree that is removed looked as though it had been pasted into the picture, just doesn’t look right to me. I am never very successful removing branches etc in Lrc using these techniques.
Absolutely. Especially when nobody is looking, I'm make all of my 3 pointers. It's the transferring of that success rate vs actual opponents that's a problem. On a serious note, thank you for this great tutorial.
@Pogouldiwitz ha! It’s so weird that the only time I miss my three pointers is when there’s someone else on the court 🤣 And thank you very much for watching the vid!
Thank you! If you send the photo from LR to PS the way I showed in the video, make the changes, and then save the image, then the new image will auto import back into LR and get stacked with the original. 👍🏼
FYI in LrC to see "visualize spots" press "T" or View>Show Toolbar. (took me a while to find so maybe this will help someone else)
Oh finally found someone that uses lr and not just lr classic, can't wait to watch more of your videos, learnt lots during that one.... thank you 😃

Thank you! This is one of the most useful LR videos I have seen in a long time
That is especially kind of you to write. Thank you!
VERY HELPFUL INFO! Many thanks...

Very helpful lesson. Thank you!
Thank you! Again 😊
Brilliant. Very clear demo. Very useful, thank you.

Oh man, I’m already crying just thinking about it.

GREAT STUFF! Thanks
Thanks, I learn several new things.
Brilliant! Thank you
You’re very welcome!
Congratulations on hitting 25,000 !
Thank you, Tim! I also owe you an email reply!
@@brianmatiash no worries
Thanks. Will save me a lot of jumping back and forth to PS.
This was awesome. You are an excellent teacher. Thanks for this video Brian!
Thank you so much for the kind words, Peter!

great thanks
Thanks, clearly I have not been covering enough area outside the item I have trying to remove - need to go back a do more testing 👍

great video! one of my main issues resolved ;-) more tips when to go to photoshop for changes ???
Excellent!
Many thanks!
Nice video! It looks like Green Cay Wetlands.
Thank you! And you’re not wrong 😁😁😁😁😁😁

Your'e the best
😊 thank you!
Brian, I don't care what Matt K. says about you, you are a great teacher!🤣
Ha! I’ll be sure to give Matt a swift arse kick for his sass, then. 😂🤣

They need to put the one in photoshop in lighroom
The 'Show overlay in hover' option does not not appear in Lightroom Classic. However, holding down the 'H' key does the trick.
I could be wrong, but I think if you press “O” it will show the overlays. Either “O” or “H”.
Just wanted to say thanks, thanks, thanks! Your Show Overlay button hint has changed and greatly increased my use of the content aware fill. how did you turn it on ?
Bottom left corner where you can choose always, never, hover &… im not at my pc now so don’t remember exact wording sorry
Another comment says you can hold down the H or O key
Great video but in my Lightroom Classic I miss the bottom tools that let me «overwrite» a removed object area. Is this not active in Lightroom Classic?
You can have LR re-process a selection with the Remove brush. I show that at 08:44.
I assume that's what you're referring to.
What I ment was that the tools Visualise spots and Overlay were not shown as on your video, right under the refresh button. But I found them on the toolbar under the picture (in my Lightroom Classic). Works fine now👍🏻
Applying the new "Point color" feature only to a mask doesn't work for me (LrC latest Stable version, Mac Apple Silicon).
Lightroom Classic is not the same.... it's missing the bottom controls. Ugh.
That tree that is removed looked as though it had been pasted into the picture, just doesn’t look right to me. I am never very successful removing branches etc in Lrc using these techniques.
I don't remove anything in my photos in post. I get it right, in camera, all the time.
You’re in good company. I also hit every single three pointer that I take.
Absolutely. Especially when nobody is looking, I'm make all of my 3 pointers. It's the transferring of that success rate vs actual opponents that's a problem. On a serious note, thank you for this great tutorial.
@Pogouldiwitz ha! It’s so weird that the only time I miss my three pointers is when there’s someone else on the court 🤣

Another great tutorial! Does the image automatically revert to LR from PS?
Thank you!
If you send the photo from LR to PS the way I showed in the video, make the changes, and then save the image, then the new image will auto import back into LR and get stacked with the original. 👍🏼
Thank You@@brianmatiash
