I'm in the UK and 95% of the people I know are atheist. It seems with every decade that passes fewer people feel the need to believe in religion. We only "celebrate" Christmas and Easter because it's an excuse to get presents and chocolate.

I know right, fact. I work with Christians colleagues mostly and none of them go to church or read the bible. Even the royal family onlu go at certain events and for press coverage. In Malaysia, a muslim country. We celebrate Ramadhan, Deepavali, Chinese New Year, Wesak, Christmas, Mooncake festival, Keamatan, Thaipusam. The muslim in malaysia didn't make a fuss about it. We also have the largest Buddha statue in SEA. Well... this 3rd world country are more open minded than a majority of Brits who got offended by everything.

Ramadan this year runs from 10th March - 9th April. Those lights if they really wanted them could have been put up and turned on at any point during the month, but instead they chose to do it on Easter weekend, the most important weekend in the Christian calendar. If that’s not a clear signal to Christians living in Britain I don’t know what is!

Well, we took our own religion out of our institutions, such as schools, so that we did not offend those who came here. However, they did not return the favour and, over time, we have turned away from it.

That is where we go wrong. It is time to offend, but it won't happen. But we practice our religion in private. When people come to a Christian country they should abide by the laws and accept them. Not then tell that country what they can and cant do in the name of their religion.
No nativity in many schools now , Christmas fairs are now winter festivals yet we have Islamic messages on railway information signs and now our capital thinks more of Ramadan than Easter and politicians wonder why their held in such contempt😡😡🇬🇧🏴
Even when you walk into Sainsbury’s or Tescos they put the Ramadan Mubarak sign right at the centre of the store so it’s the first thing you see when you walk in, While Happy Easter is just pushed to the side.

Only 6.5% of England and Wales identify as Muslim, whereas nearly half the population identify as Christians and Christmas and Easter are traditional celebratory British holidays that are also celebrated by non Christians. Whereas Ramadan is simply a month of fasting so it doesn't make sense to refer to it as "Happy Ramadan" and it's inappropriate to celebrate it with lights across London. We don't even have Easter lights. Given Ramadan falls earlier every year at some point (and in about 5 years time) it will coincide with Christmas and when this happens which lights will take precedence in Oxford Street? Also when Ramadan falls in the summer do people really want Ramadan lights blocking the view of sunny skies and lighting up the sky? I don't want any lights over head in the summer months.
Ramadan is determined by lunar months and will therefore come 11 days earlier next year. Easter will come on 20th April 2025 and Ramadan will be over at the end of March 2025. Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated during the Christian lent.

I'm Catholic and having a sri lankan and Portuguese background .I live in England 🏴 for my studies and its crazy to see ramadhan lights in England. Because, you can't even see them in Colombo,Sri lanka.We always celebrating Christmas, vesak like things in sri lanka or any other southern European countries...But I'm afraid of this.I don't feel london is an English city❤...But also it is sad to see that English people aren't going to churches.
In Paris specially Lisbon in portugal we catholics gather to celebrate the festivals and also involve in charity works.Also in Sri lanka too..And I against this ramadhan lights because more than 300+ people killed in easter sunday in Sri lanka in 2019.And also 500+ people were killed in paris in 2015.. And celebrating such a religion by lightening london streets is a horrible thing yo see..😢😢😢

Then tell their hard working devoted volunteers you and your church can't have any and and tell them its because they all profited from slavery.

The similarity to this political and financial policy in all Europhile UK Governments is why the MAJORITY of hard working citizens, legally resident, law abiding and moderate have lost trust in a ruling elite who no longer care about them and more interested in their international reputation and made money an idol for profit, not the means to care and help the sick and poor to improve their lives .
