    Passed my test just over a week ago and then popped to the NEC last Sunday. Saw your piece on the triumph stage and also had a ride on the 900RP courtesy of the rage triumph experience guys. Absolutely love the 900 Rally Pro, so must so I have managed to find decent seconded hand one with really low mileage. Can’t wait to start riding proper next weekend, although the snow might put a stop to some riding!
    Can’t wait to see the remainder in your 1000 Dunas series

    I don't know if anyone has commented yet on the panniers key system. However, in my experience the biggest risk is of leaving the key inside the box (while holding random things to pack inside the box) and closing it from top when key is not required to close the pannier. I learnt it on my last trip when I thought that i lost my key on a short break taking photographs, almost had a mini heart attack thinking i packed it inside the top box. But then found the key in one of the hidden pockets of my jacket. Only to realise later from the top box manual later that day why Givi uses a key to lock and unlock and cannot shut the box close without the key. I was about 500 kms away from the nearest place to find a new key and surely would have had to use a rock or tools to break into the top box.

      I Have a secret pocket in the arm of my jacket. I keep a spare key in there. A 1 key system + you can't lock the key in the pannier that works for me.

    To shut off the bike without losing the Off Road Pro mode setting, keep it in 1st gear and lower the kick stand. When you start up again, your Off Road Pro setting will remain intact. This is useful when riding in a group, stopping briefly for a group direction decision, and then riding off soon thereafter.

    I see a lot of reviews mentioning the suspension, but few mentioning that's its fully adjustable, front and rear. The handbook also gives you off road settings as a guide that changes the geometry of the bike completely for off road. Yes it's a bit of a faff...ten mins work, but I hope you did it for the rally!!

    That spin turn is a lot easier if instead of using the lean to slip the tire, you keep it upright, but push harder with your hip. The more upright stance will give the front more traction and the read will spin. Then when it spins, you can just push and it will move easily. Chris Birch’s “Say No To Slow” course covers this brilliantly.

    Liking seeing the Rally Pro, being used like this. It, and the T7, are still the top two of my "if i ever chop in my bike for something bigger" list. Got back on a bike (CB500x), after a long gap, after a couple of nasty crashes. The 'little' CB has done everything i've asked it to do (80,000+ miles, ten countries), in the last 4 years, but i do occasionally think about going bigger. So, i'll be watching to see how you get on with the Rally Pro.

      This 0.7l can be simply due to riders height, weight, different usage of throttle, more use in stop and go traffic, etc.

      Hello, Robert here. I'm 6'1", 205 lbs... I'm 66, a Leo, and I like long walks off short peers...
      As to the Tiger's suspension, I got a touch of motion sickness from the fork dive on my first serious ride on it. Mind you, I'm coming off 10 years of BMW Televers. But with some adjustment in the fork settings, it calmed down quite a bit. I've got other issues with the bike, but if I were keeping it, I might opt for slightly stiffer springs in the front. Have not done enough off-road with it to explore the limits of the rear spring/shock yet, but I like the road feel (when I'm not distracted by the vibration and awful noise)

    I own the exact same bike (I love it!) and I'm 1.87m (6"2in) and without any gear, both my feet touch the ground (barely)... 30kg must make a huge difference? Did you adjust your springs a lot? (I'm also 105kg FYI)

    • @IanRobertSanders
      @IanRobertSanders Рік тому

      Bjorn, I think that there's a very large range of preload adjustment on the rear shock. I have the same bike and I'm 1.79m. With the rear pre-load set for a single rider as stated in the manual, and with the seat at the lower setting, when I sit on the bike, my feet are almost flat on the ground (the heel is slightly raised). If I put maximum preload I can hardly touch the ground. I weigh 78kg + riding gear. So it sounds like your preload might be at max. Going the other way with the preload, the bike can be lowered quite a lot at the rear, compared to the recommended triumph setting for one rider. So I guess thats what The Girl on a bike might have done. I also have front preload at the recommended level but again there's a big range of adjustment that can affect how near your feet are to the ground. I guess that this very large range of preload allows good adjustment for both on road touring and off road use. Setting the suspension for off road, as stated in the Triumph manual, completely changes the geometry of the bike.

    • @TheGirlOnABike
      @TheGirlOnABike  Рік тому

      as I am so light to how the bike is aimed at for a standard rider I did not bother adjusting anything. Any attempts would be trying to polish a poo as I would need the right weight spring to get it right for me. I didn't have any issues but I'm very much a just get on with it, don't blame the equipment, adapt and ride kind of person as I get to ride so many different bikes any they are never set up for my weight. ❤

    HI Vanessa, I have the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro & got the upper bars fitted, however I noticed that the ones you have fitted have an extra bar going across to the engine that would make it more sturdy, I have dropped my bike once, thankfully no damage, however the upper bar was bent in so close to the front of the fuel tank it could have damaged the tank, that extra bar would prevent this from happening, I would like to ask if this extra bar was done by Triumph or did you get it added to the upper bars by someone? I would appreciate any information on this as it could save me a world of pain if I can get these fitted or the extra bar added, great videos & enjoying them very much, keep up the good work 👍

      Triumph launched the new style tank guard with center frame mount this year. I hate the old style; you're right that dropping the bike with the 2020~2021 style tank guard actually does more damage to the tank than protect it. (I experienced tank damage due to old style bar bend 4 times, and that tank is expensive to replace!) I have 4 Tiger 850/900 series (years 2020~2022 models), and I changed the tank guard on all 4 bikes.

    I use Gopro Hero 8 Blacks because I can run them on an external batery. I have had my Gopro's run for a constant 8 hours on one peticular ride.
    The external batteries run the camera via the mic adapter which also allows me to record at the same time.
    Question: Can the DJI Camera run off an external battery?
    Question: Will DJI mic work when running off an externa batter like the Gopros?

    What do you think about the Africa twin compared to the Tiger 900. Africa twin does not have backlight switch gear unlike the Tiger and the Africa twin ha DCT unlike the Tiger quick shifter? Which would you say is the better bike overall or are they both as good in their own right? Love the road and off road trips please keep them coming, thanks Mike. 🙂🏍

      Measurements are perfectly plausible - for example I've got fairly short legs for a man and I'm 178cm tall, with a 77cm inside leg. So quite reasonable that a slightly shorter woman could have the same sort of ratio (178 / 77 vs 169 / 69).
      A 69cm inside leg and a 880mm seat height and close to flat footing is confusing though. Maybe with the pre-load backed right off, and 35kgs of gear on the back? I've seen some of the smaller Honda's lose a huge amount of seat height with a bit of luggage on them.
