If you take a closer look at Sora and Riku's relationship it's pretty obvious that Riku is gay and that he has very special feelings towards Sora. Why do you feel so attacked by the possibility of Riku being gay? It wouldn't change a single thing about him as a person. It would just add some depth to his character.
