      Thanks for the video...I'm about to try this on my 2001 E46. One question, on amzn, someone commented on the crux adapter that he didn't retain all the steering wheel functions when using the crux. So he tried the Axxess ASWC-1 and that worked for him. Can you confirm that the crux did work completely for you after this vid you made? Thanks. Here's the link to the amzn crux review www.amazon.com/Crux-SWRBM-57K-Radio-Replacement-Accessories/dp/B01CU4TOSW/ref=sr_1_1?crid=NNFYLV9ZFDIC&keywords=crux+swrbm-57k+wiring+interface&qid=1662291855&sprefix=swrbm-57k%2Caps%2C270&sr=8-1&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc#customerReviews

      Do you need the crux dip switch adapter? Or would I be ok with just the powering cable adapter to solder instead? I just want aux to play my own music

    I wish I had found this video a week ago. I've spent the past 3 weekends trying to get a head unit installed and functioning in my son's 2003 325I. The main problem, it turns out, was that the previous owner had the wrong wiring harness adapter. I finally had to get a multi meter to determine which wire was the constant 12V, which was Acc, etc. The adapter that had been used by the previous owner had the wires/colors all mixed up.
    We installed a cheap Sony and a sub from Walmart. It now sounds way better than it did. Other issues we had to deal with were, first, finding the correct amp remote wire in the factory harness and the one in the crap adapter we had and, second, that the factory HU has hard wired pre-amp outputs (not RCA connectors, but RCA type signal) and the new one has powered. I had to wire in a line out converter to all 4 channels. Talk about no room behind the head unit. 😁
    It works now. It sounds good enough for a 16 year old high school kid. At the very least, he can annoy all of the neighbors when he comes home at night with the sub bumping!

    Good for replacing original radio too. Installed Harmon Kardon years ago, never really liked it, odd controls . Going back to stock and streaming Bluetooth.
    Thanks!

    Installing a radio in an older BMW is somewhat difficult because you have to take a lot into consideration. If you have the Harman/Kardon sound system, DSP, OR the navigation system, it's going to be difficult to install a new radio in your Beemer. This one (fortunately) looks a bit more basic, so it's not as difficult as the more well-equipped models.

    What you haven't said is: 1) which one is for steering wheel controls. 2) Does this kit retain: Volume up/down? Phone Answer and end call?

    Dumb question, but better safe than sorry: Will this work for a 2004 bmw 325i? I'd rather be at least 85-90% positive it will before I buy the parts. If it will, I cannot wait to get rid of this factory stereo. I had to learn how to burn music to CDs bc of it.
    Edit: Good news! I decided to risk it, and it works. For the most part anyway. Steering wheel controls dont work, and I didn't get the antenna adapter, but it still works fine regardless. I thank you for the assistance. Now I need to install an amp and subs, and I'll be using your videos to help with that as well.

    Do I need the Crux interface??? I barley use the factory wheel controls anyways, and it’s a little out of my price range

    Today I installed a Sony radio everything works fine except 1 problem, the radio won't turn off with the key and it also keeps the obc illuminated, I tried swapping the red and yellow cable but same result, any idea or tip ?

    Hello, I have a 2004 BMW M3, and I’m looking to go with this setup, will it fit my car? I just want to make sure if I buy everything in the description that it will fit.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Рік тому

      I would recommend a short / shallow chassis radio as the dash cavity is very small. To verify fitment, just depends on your trim level and what factory features you already have. Most non-nav factory trims work with the parts shown.

    Do you need anything to bypass the oem amplifier I was told you need to run your own wires to the speaker ?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  2 роки тому +1

      No need to run new wiring to each speaker as you can still utilize the factory copper wiring. Amplifier will be located in the trunk on the driver side. As there is no harness available to bypass the factory amp, you will need to manually wire them in. Tweeters, mid range, mid bass and sub speakers will all have their own individual speaker runs to the trunk.

    Can you splice with just electrical tape?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  2 роки тому

      I mean you could, but highly not recommended as electrical tape can fail at higher temperatures. If you can't solder, use crimp caps or butt connectors at a minimum.
