    I agree with this video because I also had the exact same problems which are fixable with one day of DIY work. I do not recall any problems which took more than one day. Great car and I would buy this car again. BMW are great cars for people who can do their own work.

      In my opinion, there are some things that can be plastic. Things like intakes, valve covers, etc that aren't going to catastrophically fail, and which can be easily replaced, can be made out of plastic no sweat. Things like oil pans, water pumps, etc though cannot be made of plastic

    I had a 2010 BMW 325i. 150k mi. Bought used w/100k. Loved it. Great ride. Then one day it wouldn’t start. Found fuel pump was dead. This is the one year BMW sealed the pump in the gas tank. My mechanic wouldn’t attempt it. He said it’s a dealership job. Dealership wanted $8500. They have to raise the car, remove sub assembly, gas tank, replace fuel pump and put everything back. I got rid of the car. BMW - THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MISTAKE.

    My 2005 325i has the fuel pump in the gas tank. It's a California edition so it is different than the same car sent to every other state. Bmw actually extended the warranty by 15 years on this so got it done for free at the dealership 2 or 3 years ago. My car has 118k miles. I've done radiator, water pump, overflow tank, thermostat, all hoses, oil filter housing gasket, oil pan gasket, oil leak on vanos line, and plugs wires and coil packs.

      Some of the BMWs like the E46 generation ones are not too expensive to own. Also there are many BMW engines to avoid.
      BMWs need a higher amount of maintenance items that say a Toyota. If you follow a maintenance schedule then expensive repairs can be reduced.

    Front lower control arm bushing doesn't require removing the ball joint at the bend in the control arm. Only remove the two bolts at the back, the arm will drop into a position you'll be able to remove the bushing. There is the rubber part, which can be cut off with any knife, then a steel sleeve that fits around the control arm, this may require some hammering but mine came off with some screwdriver prying. Pretty easy job, actually. Reinstallation of the two mount bolts can be helped by using a steel rod or screwdriver to move the arm so that the bolts line up; once you get this, it's easy-peasy.

    After 52k miles on my 2004 bmw 325i SULEV. one OEM ignition coil went bad, replaced all with ELDOR coils. Prior to fixing that I had an oil sensor go bad as I probably drove around a few years with that one bad missing coil. While changing the coil I did break a bracket I haven't replaced. Also my dead pedal has cracked due to me putting weight on it. I have the part but see it difficult to replace. No idea why the dead pedal was of such cheap plastic quality. I also have a rear left window molding/gutter type molding broken. I'll say this, it does eat up tires. I am my third set. the 80k rated good year eagles gave it too hard of a drive and bumpy road. Original tires are $1250 though and good years were under $600. My new all season Michellins are wonderful and yes they were $950 for set. I do keep it in the garage all 18 years I've owned it.

I love that car so much, that I spent awful lot of money on a significant reconstruction just 3 months ago (including welding of the body and new paint). • @eduardocarlos368
      @eduardocarlos368 3 роки тому +27

      Just take care of the basic maintenance items. Once you buy it change the oil, plugs and coils (if you dont have register of them being done recently) and also find a good shop to give your injectors and vanos solenoids a good clean. Also worth checking the condition of your belt and pulleys, by the sound you can tell if they're in good condition. Otherwise BMW in-line 6 cylinder engines are very reliable and long-lasting and rarely have a failure that leave you stranded. Transmissions are usually good as well (check for service history if you're looking for an automatic). You just have to take good of your car and it will give you many miles of joy.

These cars can run forever if well taken care of it’s all up to the past owner and how well they took care of the car. Mines only has 84k miles on it. Was my mistake for letting my love for older 3 series models get the best of me and not checking any of the info (pretty dumb) but hey it’s a nice fun car so everytime it’s running It feels good.

    • @OneJuanWon
      @OneJuanWon 3 роки тому +5

      That depends on two factors: were the 32k miles easy or punishing and how well was the car maintained prior to purchase? In the grand scheme of things, you probably don't have a lot to worry about now, but plan on addressing the cooling system around the 60k-75k mile mark. If you rarely have other passengers in your car, the window regulator most likely to break first will be the driver's door unit. Suspension wear will come down to your driving style and the condition of the roads you drive on.

    • @rschneid1996
      @rschneid1996 3 роки тому +8

      32k miles on a car that old is very, very low. Most of the parts in the video fail simply due age, NOT mileage. The plastic made 20 years ago gets brittle over time and fails. Modern plastics do last longer.
      I do suggest replacing the cooling system parts proactively vs waiting for failure. The water pump, thermostat and upper/lower hoses are all just behind the radiator and "easy" to do in 1 afternoon. The coolant reservoir is also worth doing proactively.
      The other issues are annoying but won't cause a blown engine unless you let the car run out of oil.

    Would you happen to know what the problem might be if this vehicle suddenly ceases to start (No crank or turn over), but the battery and starter are fine? I was looking at buying one, and have run across this issue with 2. Is it an expensive repair?

    Also leaks from water bottle whee it connects to the radiator, O-ribg damaged or fitted incorrectly. Why plastic ? We used an aluminium water bottle.

      Look to replace the key plastic parts versus waiting for them to fail. Proactively changing the cooling system parts mentioned in the video is not too expensive and can prevent a blown head gasket = dead engine.

    My E46 320i (2004) model is giving me lots of trouble lately. Engine stalling, vibrations and sometime unstable RPM before the engine is shutting down. I also have some difficulty trying to start the engine. Seem a lot like MAF error (the code said it too) and I replaced a new MAF. But the problem is still exit (getting even worse actually, misfire from all cylinders) and my mechanic suggested that it could be ECU. Can u please kindly give me some advices? Thank you so much in advance.

    Hello, I’m about to buy a bmw series 3 (yr2000) for my first car for about $2,750 and “the only issues with car is it will need a left rear hub (needs puller to replace) eventually, the front control arms bushings need replaced”
    Will it cost much? And the miles on it is 184k. & Will it be okay to drive on the highway?
