Very great video! On my corvette I think I need to drive the pin in more. I can still feel the edge of the pin. It’s not flush. And thank you for speaking about high beam. What a PIA! I liked the old GM foot high beam switch.
Awesome! Good luck with fixing it! Don't forget to subscribe 😉
I see all these people tearing into their column from the top to the bottom to get to this pin and you do it through the side cove literally disturbing 2% of the wiring and components. You inspired me to order the pin. Hope I can do it as easily as you made it look.
Good luck! You can do it! Don't forget to subscribe 😉
Awesome video Clowny! Your stuff on the third gen has really helped me tackle things I would have never tried before watching. I appreciate your informative videos and your added humor.
Glad I was able to help you!!
My boi. Painted n pimped a 98 camero for my daughter. 16 in Jan now. Wouldn't start or shut off !! I knew we had play before. Fixed it now. Thank you so much bru
Awesome!
Nice job! looks like an easier fix than one would expect!
Yep..this is the fastest way to fix this issue, without getting into the column intself
Awesome Klowny. All your stuff is extremely well made making your channel a must subscribe. As a 99 SS 6sp owner I really appreciate your videos.👍
Thank you so much
Literally took 15 mins start to finish. Hardest part was removing the column lever because General Motors had some crazy thread, locking compound on it. Column 95% less wobble than it had. Thanks for the video.
Awesome! Glad I was able to help! Don't forget to subscribe 😉
You have the best video on the subject. Would appreciate some further help though.
1) I swapped the pin for the larger one and the play is exactly the same as before.
2) I tried to put back the little plastic high beam piece and I couldn't. It felt like the rod was too loose and not pushing against the plastic piece in order to hold it there so I could put the cover on.
Then the plastic piece fell into the steering column so I'll have to drop it to find it.
What is the part number of the column cap removed at 1:49 please ?
Thank you for making this video this was a big help very clean tutorial 💯

WOuld you happen to know if the turn signal lever when it's connected to the switched inside the column, is it connected to the windshield wiper switch or the turn signal switch? My wipers aren't working and I'm trying to figure out if I need a new turn signal switch or wiper switch, but i can't seem to find the wiper switch.... And do you need to break down the column to change the wiper switch? I have a 1992 with tilt steering.
Good instructional video I need to do this on my car Hi beams don't work.slso was wondering If you have a video on how to make a trunk motor delete on a late 3rd Gen.Make it stationary thank you
Thank you..sorry no video for the trunk
Me boyo the auto trunk is a very Desirable feature
Thanks from Sweden! 🇸🇪
Thank you..don't forget to subscribe 😉
Klowny with the hook up , thank you sir
Thanks for watching
I have the same issue with my 81 Camaro. Is the pivot pin the same? Other than the high beam switch, obviously.
It should be..don't forget to subscribe
My 81 has the same issue.
Great video klowny , Hope you keeping well.
Thanks man all good here..hope you are good as well!!
Awesome as usual! You’re the man
Thanks man!
I bought a 2002 Pontiac firebird. I have the same steering column problem and parts were missing from it. I got the dimmer switch actuator ( high beam rod extender) and the piece that cover for it. I’m tryna to insert the actuator and I can’t find the spot that holds the actuator. Do you know exactly where the actuator goes on. Do I have to buy something else to get the actuator to stay on? If you can reply to why I can’t get that piece on il gladly appreciate it!
I'm looking for the same!
Is the column different for a 1990 Corvette??
Shouldn't be that different
Seeing my 3rd gen has 82k miles and the tilt is never used, I am good to go. Nice info if I ever need to replace them. Hope you are doing well Klowny. Finally going to get the Sniper installed this fall. Feeling a lil bit better lately also. Sorry that Brianna left you and I promise to take well care of her.
Bryanna likes it when you nibble on her left ear lobe..good luck!

Thats a pain. People grab on the wheel when they get in and out. I saw a old toyota land cruiser with 97 seats.
Yep..almost all gm tilt columns have this issue
Where is the 3rd gen camaro at still have it ?
Yeah this is it
Will this work for a 4th gen camaro
Listed to work until 2002 camaros..don't forget to subscribe
How did you mount your gauges?
Cups from autometer
Technically we always called those 4th gens the third gen you had the brown one is what I was referring to, because I have a 1970 RS and your videos were like the only helpful ones for me and I'm not even finished lol, I've had the engine and tyranny rebuilt so far and have a bunch of new parts, just waiting to have the floor pan evaluated or redone and the subframe done. Then I can start putting the parts on it.When i was like 8 or 9, in my 30's now my uncle had an 78 Z 28 my older female cousin had a 80's version like the one in this video.
Nice!!
My 91 gta has the same issue...thanx for the info

That piece that goes against the rod is virtually impossible to keep from falling out. Any tricks? Maybe a little dab of glue or something, now that I’m thinking about it. Also I just took that pin out(pulled right out, no tool) I stuck a thin piece of wire in the hole, towards the dash side and smacked the pin back in. It’s tight now 👍👍
Glad you fixed it..that rod is annoying!! Thanks and don't forget to subscribe
Thks, helped alot.
Thanks don't forget to subscribe 😉
Chrysler of the era had a similiar design for the high beam. A real pain if you had to get into the tilt column for any reason!
Gotta love these designs!! Don't forget to subscribe 😉
@@klowny1969 Done! And thanks for the videos!
Don't use your steering wheel as a pull handle! Be Gentle!
Agreed
Are there (2) Pins ? Is there one on the other side?? Thx in advance
Yes but usually this one goes bad..don't forget to subscribe
Chrysler used those Saginaw tilt columns too. Typical 3 screws loosen up. Not hard to fix but it's a bitch tearing the column apart. I bought a car from some bastard who never mentioned it and the steering wheel was like an airplane yoke.
Yeah annoying as hell..thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe
If the steering wheel moves in every direction, its the 3 screws. If its "down and to the left" then its the tilt pins. HTH!
