The original Coven album rules, but the almost mainstream traditional rock catchiness of this one has a place in my heart as well (especially Washroom Wonder). It reminds me of Ghost’s approach to devil music, except the tongue-in-cheek nature and playful Satanism started here, decades prior, even in response to studio pressure, or maybe even because of it. Ave Satanas!
All the first three Coven's album are masterpieces. I can't really understand why they didn't get the credit they deserved at the time. Nothing to envy to the bigs of the era, neither technicalwise nor songriting wise.
Again, Jinx is an incredible singer, going from sounding like Grace Slick to hitting high notes like Minnie Ripperton to Mariah Carey. Obviously, she was never smoking cigarettes!
Their first album got them banned from radio. This album, with its groovy north Cali vibe, is the exact opposite of the first album. As I understand, Tom Laughlin and crew picked Coven to record One Tin Soldier for the Billy Jack film because radio banned had banned Coven.
719 now - questions about coincidence are not to be taken seriously by a cientific bias - just open youserlf for wonderfullyfuckin'ness... As Constantine said once: "magic(k) is the science of coincidence"

I just realized that Jinx is doing the very high pitched vocalizations before Mariah Carey and even Minnie Ripeton.
Why these records aren't in Spotify??

Their timing was horrible. They released a satanic-themed album at the same time as the Tate-Labianca murders. That was just begging for an avalanche.

Сложно было конкурировать с BS, с Оззи, наверное.
Gracias por compartir tan buena música , discazo!
Can't even compare it to the eponymous masterpiece of the Witchcraft... LP
Я первый раз послушал эту группу. Очень здорово 👍 🤘

She lost her magnificent range now, but sounds great in the lower register with her new heavier lineup. They DOOM now.
she smoked cigs back then
this band is awesome, i can't believe they didn't get too much attention.
I know. They had a load of other really good songs as well, that never got recorded properly. It's annoying.
They're getting attention now, as they're touring with a fantastic lineup. Jinx still looking hot.

This album is fifty years old!
so am I
such a under rated band!!
Coven go mediocre already on the second album. What a shame.
Is it just me or did Coven change the lyrics To Jailhouse Rock?
Very good sound !
Jinks this was Chicago band 69
Sounds so much like Fleetwood Mac
Right now it says, "666 subscribers". Pure coincidence?

So... coincidence is NEVER "pure" 🙂
Today (04/06/2023) it says, 777 subscribers
Great Lp, What hurt them was their ties to Witchcraft.
