As a Jew is also good because it’s making our politicians look like fools because they clamp all Jewish ppl together and that’s why they have to stand w Israel. So I personally think it did alot of good here in the US. It contributed to a major wake up call. I’ve never seen the US like this before. The tragedy is unfortunate but the waking up is very heartfelt. Literally ppl here didn’t know what a Palestinian was, maybe they’ll just call us Arabs. So the fact that politicians are actually saying the “word” Palestinian . Is a major upgrade. You have to be noticed before you can get them to see injustice. They were just trying to erase us. From classification, from the UN, kill us, obliterate us, and then say we never existed ? ! Everyone I know who was born in Palestine when renewing passport they have put Israel. So it’s really important as a Jew and Jewish ppl to speak out. Because the average person in the West still think it’s a religious thing/war/ conflict .
It’s not just the politicians, it’s the media as well. I see zionists attempting to speak for and represent me all the damn time and it enrages and sickens me.
I agree and especially when you consider what the despicable zios did to Jonathan Glazer for speaking the truth. Zios will not intimidate nor erase me nor stop me from speaking the truth. They will NOT make me complicit, in genocide, occupation and apartheid. I absolutely will not stand for it!!!
I think it might sound weird to most people but I think it’s good to say “as a Jew” - it’s not for Palestinians, but for the younger Jewish community to show them there’s are people like them who think like them (even though they might be against their entire family and society). It allows others to come out of Zionism. And many zionists have said in interviews that when you’re deeply indoctrinated, you don’t listen or hear anyone else, they’ll just classify you as an antisemitic. But if they read books from zionists who unlearned, or Jewish people or Jewish scholars, they ar more likely to listen. Or learn. It’s sad but it’s true. And once they are believers and wake up, then they read and learn from Palestinian voices, or other voices. But the indoctrination is severe.
People like Simone Zimmerman, Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro, Katie Halper, Gabor Mate, Matt Lieb, Lily Greenberg Call and Sam Seder probably helped me the most with that. It just really helped to know that I wasn’t alone, that there were other people who really understood what I had been experiencing and gave me the courage I needed to face the reality of my zionist indoctrination and the reality of Israel.
I wish I could speak the truth on this subject but every time I try, my comment has gotten deleted. I will just say that denouncing zionism liberated me from intergenerational Holocaust trauma, because I had no idea until that exact moment that I was in a cult that I had never knowing signed up for that was slowly destroying my life. It’s so extremely toxic, not just to the world and public perception but how it devastates you psychologically. It’s a spiritual cancer and I’m so glad to be finally free from it. I just wish there had been a way to have been previously diagnosed with parasitic soul destroying zio disease or something. It really should be in the DSM.
Couple of things: Naomi Klein is a prominent voice in Canada who has leveraged her deep knowledge of her Judaism to bring her fellows in the faith into a bit of awareness. During the Seder In The Streets she (rightly) called Zionism "the true false idol." I also have a more cynical take on the motivations of settlers in the West Bank: they come generally from shitty apartments in Brooklyn or LA.They are offered a heavily-subsidized house, with health care and all the other important social services, in a Southern California climate. They become "somebody" where back in New York they were absolutely nobody.
Interesting discussion. I'm Hunkpapa Lakota from Standing Rock. Obviously I support Palestinians and have for years and a contingent of Palestinians came to support Standing Rock during the DAPL protest in 2016. Indigenous people on the North American continent, have a different perspective with regard to settler-colonialism which we have been experiencing since the late 1400s. Along with tribes being enslaved, dying from new settler diseases, genocide and the ongoing theft of land and the whole scope of the settling of the U.S. where all the resources extracted and almost all the land has been stolen from tribes and then redistributed to waves of immigrants. Then those immigrants carry on for centuries about living the American dream and these new immigrants want power and control without ever considering that what they are complaining about in Gaza is the same thing they are doing here on Indigenous land. I saw some Palestinian-American professor complaining on X about her conference doing a land acknowledgment. That disrespect is very problematic when non-Native settlers whether they arrived as refugees or immigration, fighting for power and control while ignoring the Indgenous people of North America. This is why I get really turned off by Palestinian-Americans who for the most part, do not even register that by being in the U.S. and grabbing political power just makes them settler-colonizers and not some holy group of displaced people. The people actually living in Gaza deserve support but it's very disappointing to see 2 out of 3 people on this program discussing their "activism" and only Amanda ever mentioned Turtle Island. Once again, people from overseas come here and center their problems they brought with them as so much more important than anything that's happened to Indigenous people here. No one cares and it's such an old story of settlers hypocritically prioritizing their issues while living here on unceded Native lands. It's the same as white supremacists who claim they're superior because they're European.
Can I recommend you a really great episode they made and discussed their ideas about this subject in length? It's called "Decolonizing Native America and Palestine with Dr. Steve Salaita" I hope you like it. Land acknowledgement are incredibly important and not just as words but actions too. Sorry that you encountered bad experiences with people who don't understand or don't care about the native decolonial struggle, without generalization there are similar people in every community and as I see new generations have way less of them, I'm hopeful of the future. As I live in Africa I never had an opportunity to meet or learn about native people of North/South America, Australia or NZ. But really the first time I learned about their existance and resistance was through two junior Palestinian students in my school. I'm grateful for them because it changed my whole understanding. All love and unbreakable solidarity to your Hunkpapa Lakota people from a Sudanese living in Egypt 💚
I’m not sure about who’s indigenous to where anymore Are whites indigenous to Europe? Not sure Did native Americans think they owned the land or that it belonged only to them? I’m not trying to be antagonistic And I am sympathetic but the archeological evidence and DNA is painting a conflicting picture to me.
There’s an old 1944 CIA memo about how to disrupt activist, etc, organizations and meetings. What you’re doing here is right on track with that CIA advice. I don’t know if you’re CIA, or Mossad, or just an astoundingly self-centered person, or whatever, but you might as well be. You’re smearing people who are trying to stop a genocide that has massacred about 1/4 million people in about 10 months, including by dropping 2,000 pound bombs and “bunker-buster” bombs on areas where refugees are sheltering in “safe-zones”. There is no tension between, or hypocrisy in, opposing the genocide of indigenous people anywhere in America and opposing the genocide in Palestine. And I suspect you’re distorting what that Palestinian academic actually said, but of course no citation is given in order to verify it
What they also forget is the "Indian wars" didn't end until 1924, murders still happening in the 1930's, not ancient history, same as Palestine. And they arrive as refugees in the US and consider it theirs with no idea of the history, it's all about them.
Kwame Ture and Vernon Bellecourt both called out israel in the 70s for both it's crimes against Africa and the Middle East, but also for israel's support for killing Native Americans in South America. They seemed to be good friends. I hope there are still combinations of people like this around that can show the connections between the struggles. It's quite different in Australia. The Palestinian struggle is heavily linked to the Aboriginal struggle, but there is still a lot of lack of understanding with individual people here and there. You know I had to watch the first couple minutes of this conversation three or four times to understand the nuances of what was going on as the panel discussed Rabbi Shapiro's comment that it shouldn't be said that one is Jewish as one vocalizes one's disagreement with Zionism. If you listen closely, Lara is saying that the reason to affirm one's Jewishness and prepend that to one's argument against Zionism, it's because basically the nut jobs in Isreal don't listen to anybody who isn't Jewish. (and that maybe that fact holds true for most of the Jews of the world) especially on Zionism and so to bring that weapon to the fight is imperative or else that disagreement with Zionism is simply not heard at worst, or holds no weight for the people who can do anything about the current state of affairs. Lara wasn't talking about the possibility that it sounds arrogant or pretentious or elitist which was Michael and Amanda's reaction which is that to state that one is Jewish and then disagree with zionism somehow signals to others and maybe themselves that they feel superior to others and that their opinions, because, and this is what I didn't get is that in their mind, they're reacting to or responding to the cho or whatever it is that causes some or many Jews to feel superior to others. As a non-Arab non-Palestine non-Jewish and I hope most non-racist person I could possibly be, I didn't hear that at all, I understood instantly Laura's point that this is just something that needs to be said or else it's not her, let alone any break down the wall of Jericho. Frankly, Michael and Amanda's reaction, in a strange way, and I laugh at this, actually proves that there's some vestigial sense of superiority, some first reaction from the reptilian parts of the brain , that was drilled into them from childhood that they are better than other people simply stating the fact that they are, Jewish is somehow stating the fact that they are superior and that their voice holds more weight because of that not just because the whack jobs in Isreal don't listen to anybody that isn't Jewish for different reasons. The fact that they actually have to go through the process of noticing their gut reaction to that vocal self identification proceeding an argument and then realizing where that feeling of benefit or superiority is coming from and then landing on the same result, but for the brand new reason that it's just utilitarian. Now the fact that Israelis don't listen to anybody who isn't Jewish because they're paranoid and think that everybody in the world is antisemitic or just plain old freaking hates the Jews from birth, couldn't possibly in 1 million years understand what it's like to be either Jewish or Israeli with the legions of the devils armies lined up in front of them, or is less bright as as group than the Jews and that if Isreal can just get themselves clear and cleansed of the Palestinians and other Arabs, they'd finally be safe for the rest of their existence as a people. That combination of superiority and insecurity must be dealt with because it's just not true and it's so destructive, obviously, and I don't know what to do about that sort of stupid thinking but goddamn religions
I agree with you. The entire zionist agenda is based on this bogus argument that Jews somehow need Israel when it’s beyond obvious, that the converse of that is the truth. These people are pretty much going out of their way to gaslight Jews or disagree with them for being either not Jewish or traitors and of course for non-Jews, it’s “antisemitic” somehow to oppose genociding babies.

@@fodonogue3your problems in life won’t be solved unless you stop projecting your anxiety and depression onto politics and actually take accountability for your mental health
If you have/had a Israel passport you are guilty. You joined the Israeli forces, you guilty, if you stole someone land/home you are guilty. As soon as you saw the talk at school was going against the preachings of the Torah you should have known something not right. I don't believe in excuses to get out of the murder you did, you need to be in jail.
What if you are just born in Israel, just guilty eh, just get the swastika tattoo dear. Everyone in Israel took a mortgage, no one stole anything, apart from the Arabs in the West bank and East Jerusalem who stole Jewish homes when Jordan ethnically cleansed Jews in 1948. Of course you don't know about that.
It’s colonization. The original Zionists are even 100% clear in their writings that they are specifically knowingly violently colonizing over an indigenous people
Palestine is named after the Philistines who lived in the biblical period on the coastal plain. This is the name the Romans gave to the land after the great revolt of the Jews in order to emotionally cut off the exiled Jews from the Land of Israel. The British called the Mandate Land of Israel/Palestine. There was never a Palestinian state. And the Jews lived in the Land of Israel Before Islam and before the honorable Koran.
We’ve heard this BS over and over and heard it debunked over and over. The original Zionist leaders - from the those who first came up with the concept to the first PM, etc - are all very clear in their writings and statements that they know their Zionist project necessarily entails violently colonizing Palestine and trying to ethnically cleanse the indigenous Palestinians
@@ThePalestinePod You keep talking about Zionism so it makes sense to hear about it from a real one instead from anti-zionists and having a respectful conversation can be interesting But most importantly, in order to solve the Palestinian problem you have to acknowledge that Israel is not going anywhere and it won't help you believe it would fade away.
@@ThePalestinePodlaughable. Israel is winning against all the Iranian proxies and Gaza is now rubble because the Islamists want no Jews on that land who have any autonomy. Iran regime won’t last past next spring and the Saudis and other powers in the region will control Gaza along with Israel. Now Palestinian people can be led to prosperity instead of seeking vengeance for their failure to kill the Jews in the land. I know you’ve been brainwashed your whole life to think the reason why you’re a loser is cause of Zionists. But perhaps it’s time to self reflect. Maybe the pro Palestinians are the ones who are racist and refuse to acknowledge the rights of the Jews to self determine in their land. A one state solution doesn’t guarantee the protection of Jews in that region as we know is the case throughout the history of the Middle East. And a two state solution would just end up with Palestine attacking Israel again and becoming occupied again You don’t need to carry the burden of your parents hatred anymore. Palestinians will have peace when they stop assaulting the Jews. PBUY

And claiming your religious beliefs entitle you to a particular piece of land is backward
occupied already by who?
@@IdunilBandara-rj9uf humans. Maybe you’ll be one someday
@@dl1361 yes. Agree
Names don’t matter
Archeology does
It was occupied by others first
Then y’all left
It was Canaan before it was colonised and became the historical colony of israel, actually.

literally why would we do that?
@@ThePalestinePod You keep talking about Zionism so it makes sense to hear about it from a real one instead from anti-zionists and having a respectful conversation can be interesting
But most importantly, in order to solve the Palestinian problem you have to acknowledge that Israel is not going anywhere and it won't help you believe it would fade away.

And a two state solution would just end up with Palestine attacking Israel again and becoming occupied again
You don’t need to carry the burden of your parents hatred anymore.
Palestinians will have peace when they stop assaulting the Jews.
