  • The T-34, a Soviet medium tank, had a profound and lasting effect on the field of tank design. At its introduction in 1940, the T-34 possessed an unprecedented combination of firepower, mobility, protection and ruggedness.Soviet industry would eventually produce over 80,000 T-34s of all variants, allowing steadily greater numbers to be fielded while the war progressed despite the loss of tens of thousands of them in combat against the German Wehrmacht.

Very nice build. I made a 1/35 scale T-34 a few years ago, but I don't like it as much as yours. I think it is all in the snow effect that you applied and I did not.

Great build and paint job. For the tracks there are great replacement tracks in resin by OKB Grigorov. The wheels you used are mostly steel wheels, only two of them have rubber on them as far as I can see. Easy to correct, just give the black a steel color. The grill is a joke in this kit. Be glad it didn’t fit. The plastic option is superb in detail though, so you have a winner there. I like the light snow simulation you achieved. The only other thing I would have changed is the barrel. A metal aftermarket version looks so much better. Pigments are actually quite easy to use. In a way you did use them as the Tamiya weathering set are dry pigments as well. The use of other pigments can be exactly the same. Simply seal them with varnish and you’re done. You can apply mud much thicker. In that case you get a pigment fixer and by applying a few drops you have nice thick mud on your tank. I just finished the 1941 version of this tank and you can see the results on my channel for references.
    Cheers, Any.

I'm brand new to modeling, would you mind explaining your technique for paint chipping to me? Also did you hand brush the wooden stowage boxes in the side after your green coat? With what color?

The technique I used for this model was the sponge chipping technique. Basically, you tear of a small piece from a sponge and dab it in the paint chip color you like. After dabbing it, make sure to first dab it on tissue, you only want minimal paint when you apply it to your model. You can also watch my Tiger 1 tank video where I improved upon my chipping technique!
For the stowage boxes I believe I used Tamiya Red Brown to paint them.
