You're spot on! I use it as a networking and help resource tool. When companies don't have a main line that works and I have an issue, I go straight to an executive to lodge a complaint
I've been on a career transition for the past year and it's been pretty tough, so I'm planning to get the benefit of the 30-day trial only to see if there's any improvement. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for making this video-- your energy is very lively and refreshing. I have recently started updating my LinkedIn profile and saw this premium feature and I was like wth this is way too much money and I'm seeking a job right now. Is that even something that is beneficial to a job seeker? That question led me here. Thanks for all of the info. I was never going to get this 9/10 but this definitely gave me more confidence in not getting it for the purpose of job seeking.
Great video. I really like how direct and to the point you. My job is ending in a few weeks and like a lot of out of work Job seekers, I don’t want to waste money on a LinkedIn premium if it’s not worth it.
So, Premium can pull the skills/keywords out of the job post. What is the difference between that and the Skills (its's free) section in the actual job post at the top of the page? The free version is horrid and has a lot of soft skills that should not go on a resume and can be discussed in an interview...Any thoughts?
Exactly. I think their hope is that job descriptions will be overwhelming enough for some people to pay for a service that breaks them down to their essence.
If you know the big name companies in your industry, then that's a good place to start. Those company pages will have their list of public employees who you can filter by title, location, credentials, and so on. I would reach out to those relevant people and ask them what you need to do to get in front of those decision makers. Even if you get the wrong person, there's a good chance that they know the correct person to contact.
I am one day into my 30 day free trial of LinkedIn Premium Business. My disappointment in the "who has viewed your profile" feature matches yours. I went for Business versus Career for the 365 day view (vs. 90). But if it is useless, a longer timeline accomplishes nothing. I may or may not actually try to find a job. My goal for right now is professional networking in New York, where I haven't worked for ten years. This seemed like it might make it easier to dig into my contact list and educate myself on who is doing what. Too early to say if it will have value in the end. I may quit before I get billed or pay for a few months and figure it out later. It certainly seems expensive for what it offers.
This was helpful. I've been trying to come up with the funds to get it and assumed it is more robust for job seekers. Your review helped me make my decision
I would start with Recruiters/Talent Acquisition Managers because they're the ones who actually interface with candidates. And a lot of them will connect with, and accept questions from, strangers. If you need to talk to someone specific, then I would search their company directory for an email before you pay for the ability to DM someone on a website.
That feature is limited without Premium. But everybody still has the ability to browse anonymously, so you end up mostly getting notifications like "A Person at (Company) Viewed Your Profile"
I honestly don't know. I help students get jobs for a living, but I've never seen anyone get "headhunted" on LinkedIn by a company that wasn't predatory or toxic. The main benefit of LinkedIn for jobseekers seems to be in the reverse - the ability for you to view anyone's profile and contact them about how to apply at their company.
It's a hefty price tag for something you're not trying to leverage for more money. My work pays for mine because it helps us generate more revenue than it costs every year.
Unfortunately, the cost for a monthly LinkedIn Learning membership is (now?) $40/month...unless you're willing to fork out $240 for a yearly membership, as those are 50% off the monthly price.
Hey Trouty , really nice video! I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your video to reach to a wider audience .
@@UrgentlyFiring I have a question or maybe video topic idea: I've been doing freelance stuff for a while, but I don't quite have the client base to be at a sustainable level. I am also dealing with a health concern that makes it harder to do the work in my field in a healthy way. Do you have any advice or insight for people changing career paths/breaking into industries they have transferrable skills in, but few to zero connections? "How to get a job with no connections?" I realize now that one of the main reasons I was able to get into grad school with an unrelated undergrad degree was because I cold emailed a thoughtful (and earnest) email to a person who basically took a chance on me (I did have related skills though). But the thing is, that seems like kind of a rare thing. It seems most people make it places via connections. Some people say the new version of this is commenting thoughtful remarks on people's linkedin. That seems rather insincere. Are there other ways? Showing up in person to businesses? Emailing the boss and asking for a tour of the company? That is something that has been told to me. Do you know of any strategies for this? I have done other sincere cold emails, but they have been met with nothing back. I watched another video from someone that said find people very similar to you and reach out on linkedin, I think that is a good idea. But most of the time, I feel like when I google this quesion, I get just a bunch of junk articles that are very unhelpful. Any thoughts? Thanks, and I've enjoyed your videos thus far. The more I look back on my undergraduate experience, the more I'm grateful for my advisor who picked my major for this person constantly waffling. Thanks!
LinkedIn Premium might be pricey for the average job seeker, but LinkedIn’s free version is still essential for networking. Many professionals, though, overlook a key part of LinkedIn’s potential: building a strong career brand. Imagine a friend who only reaches out when they need something-how motivated would you be to help? That’s how LinkedIn works too. To get value from it, be a contributor, not just a recipient. Share insights, engage with your network, and build connections genuinely. The more you give, the more you’ll get back.

Great video! As a university student currently in the recruiting process it’s nice to see someone who seems like they care about helping the students.
Thank you so much! And I'm glad that came across!

Linkedin Premium is a bit too expensive. 40$ a month I rather go to a restaurant.
Same here!
@@UrgentlyFiring Agreed.
Now it is $99/month
Way too expensive I have got in 40 dollars for 6 months business premium 😅
I really like your personality.

Many public libraries also give you a Linkedin learning account so that could be free if your library offers it.
I love it! 👏
does the public library gives access to all the courses in linkedin learning?
Depending on your library, yes. @@cookiesncream8490
Always wondered if it was worth it. Thanks!
At $40 I'd hope they're automatically sending my resume to employers 😂
$40 to send five DMs is wild to ask of jobseekers. MAYBE if you're some C-level executive trying to transfer for another company. But that ain't me 😅

On the business plan, is buying additional inmail pricing a one-time charge of a monthly charge?
It is a subscription-based service, but you can choose whether to pay monthly or annually.
Great video. I appreciate the information.

Thank you for the review. Was searching up videos whether it's worth paying that much for the service and this was very helpful indeed.

Interesting video, lol never thought I would be curious to learn more about LinkedIn P 👌
Haha Well thanks for being here!

I completely agree. If my job didn't involve generating revenue from recruiting leads then I don't think my higher ups could justify the $500+/year.

Can't send a message without signing up for it now so what's the premium?

hm... the "who has viewed your profile" looks the same as mine, but I don't have Linkedin premium?? So what's the difference?

I have been 4 months on Linkin and no new job. But some interviews. I am not sure of the benefit other than find out the manager background
For sure. I can't comfortably recommend paying for Premium to jobseekers.
Thank you for saving my money
That's what it's all about!
But does linkedin premium help with your profile visibility as a jobseeker? for me, that's what would make it worth it.

It’s overly inflated to pay their shareholders.
I need to buy some LinkedIn stock...
If i’m a talent acquisition is it worth it to take the premium??? Am confused!
Thank you teacher for the review!
What if you are happily employed and use it for the occasional networking. Is it worth it if you're not job searching?
It's a hefty price tag for something you're not trying to leverage for more money. My work pays for mine because it helps us generate more revenue than it costs every year.
