@Prep84 It's been true for a while. Most developers don't even bother optimizing for PC anymore.
If PSSR is as good as DLSS then this technique could help the PS5 pro run a game like GTA 6 at 60fps with it rendering in 1080p and it using PSSR to upscale it to a 4k, but will have to see how the PSSR implementation really is when it’s released.
X doubt, the cpu is only getting a minor clock bump, doubt it will be enough to hit 60, rockstar is likely targeting 30fps on base ps5

Me too. Seems like a huge step up from FSR 2.2 (The Upscaler side). I’d like to upgrade many games FSR implementation because FSR is honestly so bad at the moment with shimmering and specular highlights. In games like The Last of Us Part I, downgrading the game to FSR 2.1 actually makes the game look better despite the ghosting.
Alex really hates Sony and the PlayStation. He can’t hide the face of disgust when he starts to talk about anything they do. Looking like a miserable Fu$&. He forgets that the PlayStation is a console in where Sony tries to give the most to the consumer while trying to stay affordable. He fakes that he knows more than he does. He’s just mad that he can’t figure out how the brains at Sony can engineer a box with lower specs on paper and yet look and perform better than the other box and most low to midrange rigs.
The engineers at Sony are geniuses. Before the start of the PS5 DF were talking crazy about how the frequency this and wattage that and the megahertz this… then they had to eat everything when the benchmarks showed that games ran better on PS5.

If you're someone that has a fancy 4K TV and NEEDS the best resolution, then maybe the PS5 Pro is worth it. But if you have a good enough PC, already own a PS5 Amateur, and/or don't have or care about best 4K graphics, then it's probably not worth it.
Wait for reviews and benchmarks of the Pro before buying IMO.

It really shouldn't be that big of a factor. The difference between fidelity 30fps vs performance 60fps mostly comes down to GPU and having to lower the work of the GPU to get to 60fps. I think the CPU is more than capable of 60fps for regular raster. RT on the other hand, who knows how implemented that will really get. I bet it will be watered down, used in minor ways just to claim a game uses ray tracing.

FSR is a total loss imo, destroying the image quality of recent games. DLSS looks pretty good to me though. If they can replicate NVIDIAs upscaling in some way, that would be tremendously helpful.

If the leaks are correct, a priori PS5 Pro with PSSR would reach 4K at 120fps and/or 8K 60FPS, including RT. And this is data with previous native PS5 games, not PS4 games like Bloodborne.
Normal PS5 could already run Bloodborne from Ps4 at 60fps without problems.

I'd imagine it could as that potential conflict with FSR wouldn't be there. I'm wondering if games that use FSR like FF16 would need a Pro patch then. We'll have to wait and see. Though I imagine some like Cyberpunk will get a Pro patch as that fits with how they manage their games like Witcher 3 with PS4 Pro/Xone X.
I dont think it matters if fsr is there or not, it would just require the developer to go back and patch it in, in either scenario

Microsoft really got owned this generation. They were desperate for the fastest hardware, but ultimately Sony's design was cleverer to the point the on paper differences are meaningless on screen. Microsoft thought they should have a cheap SKU to also attack PS5 on price as well as performance, but what they ended up with is an anchor console that restricts development to a lower bar. Unless they release a THIRD even faster SKU confusing the market more Sony end up with the most powerful console anyway that fits neatly with their 'base' machine.

If Microsoft wanted to play the power crown and keep up with Sony, they could, and Sony would go bust. Perhaps that's the reason why the CPU doesn't get a substantial improvement, they hope to compensate for it with the GPU using upscaling.
Jedi survivor could hit 60 with multiple RT effects and PSSR upscaling to 1800p. Would be awesome really.

@@donperion5000They never "tricked" anybody. Microsoft wrote "Native 4K gaming" on their page, so they're guilty, but Sony never said that. The HDMI 2.1 spec supports 8K60 and 4K120, everyone blew that way out of proportion.

From what I've seen about the Ps5 Pro, it seems like it will just improve the resolution or ray tracing of the current performance mode. Do you think the PS5 Pro will just be an upgrade for those who play performance mode on the base ps5? I wish the Ps5 pro had its own fidelity mode at 30 fps but with better graphics than the base model. I wanted something like the difference in graphics on the PC, from high to ultra, 4k on high would be the base ps5 and the ps5 pro being 4k on ultra in comparison. I'm not saying it that would compete with the ultra graphics on pc, but rather, between the two ps5 models, if it is possible a visual diference in that level, between playing everything on high and playing on ultra. For those who prefer fidelity mode at 30 fps, won't be worth buying the PS5 Pro? The only graphical improvement would be 2 to 3x better ray tracing? and for games that may not use ray tracing. Like Ghost, Tsushima 2 or Horizon 3, wouldn't there be an improvement in fidelity mode for these games? The fidelity mode will look the same in both ps5 and the pro model? It would only have a difference in the performance mode? Can you pls explain more about this? I want to understand it better
I assume with the only 10% cpu boost it seems like framerate may not be helped much unless the pssr allows a lower resolution to be uoscaled and allows more of the CPU to be used. I'm curious to find out how good this pro will be though.

I had the pro model last gen, and it was worth it because of the resolution being closer to 4k, this gen it seems the pro is a better upgrade than the last, but at the same time is not looking as worth.

GTA6 is more than likely going to be 30fps on PS5 Pro. It may achieve higher than 30fps, but it won't be a locked 60+ like on PC, so the experience will very well be compromised.

@@fcukugimmeausernamewell I played rdr2 on xbox one x and I can say I did not compromised anything other than smoothness. Really it takes only 1 hr or 45 min most to adapt to 30 fps again
Rockstar might not bother optimising GTA6 for PS5pro in 2025. How the game runs on PS5Pro is up to rockstar not Sony. This is not like PC where the performance of a game scales if you play it on more powerful hardware.

It is said that tge Ps5 pro is upsclaing a game from 1080p to 4k. Rendering in 1080 and pushing the quality to 4k output, looking realy similar to native 4k. Do you guys think that tge Ps5 pro could do the same for 8k? Rendering the game at 4k, like the base model already do, and pushing the image to an almost native. Ending up being sharper than 4k and realy close to the real thing (8k). I realy want the Ps5 pro to have proper fidelity that simulates 8k at 30 fps with the pssr. I have a big 8k tv and I would love to play a fidelity mode Rendering the game at 4k but upsclaing to 8k, with 30 fps and ray tracing. It is to much? 8k you will struggle to play on a 4090 I very much doubt it.
Just forget 8k. Even a 4090 could barely handle that resolution, but you'd argue that upscaling could do it, sure it can, then again it'll at best 30 - 40 fps with DLSS BALANCED, maybe 60ish with performance/ultra performance. Imo 8k is still 10 years away from consideration.

According cu steam data, currently the most used GPU is the RTX 3060 followed by GTX 1650. 58% of every user of steam is playing at 1080p 🤣. The last time I played at 1080p was 11 years ago when PS4 came out. A whopping 0,88% is actually running RTX 4090. I always laugh when I hear people say "pC mAsTuuUr RaCe", buddy you're running a 6gb VRAM card that can play games at max 1080p.

I got a 4070 580px3d gaming pc in December. 4k on my lg C1 looks sharper and more lush than 1440p/1800p that my series x outputs.

I'd be interested if there were games. They really dropped the ball with making all their studios develop live service games.

Many of their top tier studios are making new single player IPs, which take time. Naughty dog, Santa Monica, Housemarque, and Bend have been working on them. Bluepoint has been making a new game/new IP. Sucker punch and a sequel. Some of those have already put out games this gen. Most studios have more than 1 team.
@@The-Vitruvian-Man They were floating 12 live service games before they pivoted. That's a lot of teams wasting their time and regardless of how many projects are ongoing at each studio, there's going to be less output than what we got on the PS4.
I'll need to see a lot of new first party games before I'd consider upgrading from the base PS5.
@@nathandts3401 Some of those live service games weren't being made by first party studios. The majority of first party blockbuster games on the ps4 were during the second half of that generation, and it will be the same with ps5.

@@sully8317 Most of their studios have more than one team. Naughty Dog has a team that's been working on a new IP while another team worked on Factions 2. Sony Santa Monica has two team--Cory Barlog's team has been making a new IP for years while another team made GOW Ragnarok. Insomniac and Guerilla have more than one team as well. Insomniac has two single players games scheduled to release this gen, as shown by the leak. Housemarque, BluePoint, and Asobi have been making new games as well. There's also a San Diego studio who's supposed to be working on a beloved PlayStation IP. They have lots of first party non-live service games in the works, in addition to second party games that they're publishing and help develop

The nature of technological progression and limitations of older tech. It is the same reason why you can't get DLSS on Geforce 10 series cards. But you can have it on their Geforce 20 series. Because DLSS was debuted with the 20 series cards and the 10 series were incompatible due to hardware restrictions.

Lots of uses for a PC besides gaming. And plenty of games on PS5 Pro will still run at 30FPS that can run at 60FPS or higher on a half decent PC (the CPU is only 10% faster than the PS5 don't expect many 30FPS games that have CPU bottlenecks to suddenly hit 60FPS). And there's the monthly costs if you play multi-player games. It's complicated, and that's why some people have both a console AND a PC. I bought an XBox Series X to supplement my gaming experience rather than buy a new graphics card to replace my GTX1080... I hated the XBSX interface and was surprised at how crappy some of the back-compat games looked and ran. I returned it and bought an RTX4070 a few months later. Back to PC gaming!!

Well, Sony and AMD have been collaborating so it may make sense for AMD to develop stuff that Sony uses and vice versa. Sony has had years of experience with custom CHECKERBOARD rendering so perhaps AMD let them work on a bespoke solution, then used FSR as a placeholder before coming out with an RDNA version that is based on Sony's PSSR.
Since it takes a "2ms" performance hit that means that there is no separate silicon, thus it's using the GPU's own shader/compute units. Therefore there's nothing here that couldn't be applied to newer AMD graphics cards.
Since AMD and Sony's success is so tied together, and AMD isn't a competitor I don't see a good reason for both companies to invest in the SAME technology.
The recently announced FSR 3.1 is supposedly going to fix all the issues.

I know it'll likely be used for 8k marketing BS, but I really would rather it be used to upscale from 1440p to achieve better framerates while looking near identical to 4k.

The price for a better machine than ever before, is because it's packed with the latest tech, giving longevity to the consumer. "No compromises".
And we are now at the point of paying just as much if not more again, to get what? Why not just invest in a pc at this point? I'm glad Microsoft have went the revision route, and are sticking with the series X and S. I get my moneys worth, and the games are fine, look lovely. The whole point of if a console is that sweet spot for price and capabilities. Sony must be feeling the pressure from the vr situation, and their tv devision. This is a sure fire way to get some cash quick. Enjoy your remaster machine
