It is sadly true, I have a C class and with just a few miles on the clock it's a concert of plastic noise inside. And I had a Fiat before and it was faaaar better in terms of build quality!

Says somebody who has never heard a straight 6 BMW with a sport exhaust, a racing Jaguar like the D-type, a Honda CBX (straight 6 superbike) and Kawasaki Z1300, a straight 6 racing Mercedes like the W124 or a Maserati 250F (do you even know what that is?)
Like people with a crude, one-dimensional perception of reality you don't even mention factors such a flat-plane or cross-plane crank - something which definitely makes a difference in sound. You don't also mention that a turbocharger, which the BMW comes with, blocks out much of the sound which would come from a naturally aspirated engine.
Not a single mention about the exhust system itself and what kind of car it was designed for.
Using your own false notion does a V4 sound better than a straight 6? Never. Even claiming that more cylinders sound better than fewer would be false, and that despite hearing some impressive sounding V12's and V16's (proper ones).
Lastly. A straight 6 is naturally balanced, which is why luxury car makers used it for 70 years. For all intents and purposes it's half a V12, and sounds much like one. A Honda CBX sounds very Ferrari V12 like.
Racing V6's are nothing but screamers by comparison.

heißt er nicht. die Limo kam unter dem Brand C450 Amg raus. Das Coupe sowie der SLC und der GLC kamen unter dem Brand C43 auf den Markt. Und im Video ist nicht das Coupe, ergo C450!
wir fahren selber den BMW 435 .... nur halt als Diesel und als xDrive ... und da muss ich sagen, dass der Diesel mit 313 PS deutlich mehr Kraft im oberen Drehzahl Bereich hat! vielleicht wäre das ein etwas ausgeglicheneres Rennen.

ist ja klar dass der C450 besser geht, wenn dann hätte man einen C400 zum Vergleich nehmen müssen...
im C400 und im C450 arbeitet derselbe Motor: der M 276 DE 30 AL .... Gerüchten zufolge liefert der 400er genauso viel Leistung wie der 450er. Also der 400er ist keine "red."-Version. Nur auf dem Papier (und wegen Steuer und Versicherung) steht beim 400er ne 333 PS statt 367 PS. ... Diverse Prüfstände geben aber für den 400er-Motor mindestens 355 bis 367 PS aus.
Da ich selbst den E 400 fahre, werde ich wohl nicht drum herum kommen, mal meine eigene Karre auf den Prüfstand zu stellen, denn das interessiert mich dann doch schon, wie viel Bums der Hobel tatsächlich hat.
dafur das der bmw ca 60 ps weniger hat beschleunigt er genauso gut wie der mercedes wenn man bei dem bmw ca 60 ps drauf pack sähe der mercedes alt aus !!! ein paar realistischere vergleiche bitte :D

Der Mercedes hat 60 ps und 120Nm mehr als der Bmw. Selbst beim 440i wäre es kein fairer Vergleich.Wäre aber trotzdem mal interessant zu sehen.

finde es eh geil, aber auch komisch das alle möglichen BMW´s mit weniger leistung andere autos abziehen... zB 700PS RS7 vs 600PS M4 und der M4 gewinnt zwar knapp, aber gewonnen ist gewonnen:D
Schau dir das Video oben jetzt noch einmal ganz genau an, und du wirst sehen, warum der BMW so gut mithält. Das Getriebe ist VIEL kürzer übersetzt, als beim Mercedes, das ist schon BMW-üblich. Durch die kurze Getriebeübersetzung leidet aber das Zuladungsgewicht und der Verbrauch stark. Der Mercedes ist also definitiv der alltagstauglichere hier. Schneller ist er auch.

No its not. Twin-turbo means 2 separate turbos of the same type connected to one engine.
Twinscroll is just a single complicated turbo. Twin scroll turbos utilize different size vanes, a smaller angled vane for boost at low RPM, and a larger vane for high RPM boost with higher exhaust flow. (there one other type too if you interested)

Marin Ivic Right, its kind of a marketing trick to write "twin power turbo" on top of this engine because it does not have 2 turbos like i said. You can watch the motortrend comparison between the 335i and the jaguar XE S where the difference is explained.
That doesn't make it a twin turbo engine...

I'd take the merc any day over the Bmw but to be fair that is a convertible version of the 335(435) and it is heavier. I don't really see the difference between the 335 and 340 but I guess they would be a good match. 340 m sport vs c450 or the 435 vs c43 convertible
60hp difference and not big difference on 0-200 . Put c450 vs m340i , aprox same power but the 3 series will win 0-200 with a diff of few seconds

There is a simple explanation for BMW to have lost to Mercedes. BMW is not exactly twin-turbo like Mercedes. BMW uses a system called twin-power turbo, which consists of a single turbo but double-flow, there is a smaller compressor for smaller rotations and a larger compressor for greater rotation, thus removing the turbo leg.

Whichever one costs less. They are quite comparable otherwise, the only difference being that the C450 sounds better from the inside (and has a better looking dashboard). So I guess the Mercedes would be slightly more fun to drive.

Darth Swtch the bmw has always been faster in the past with sportier models and now its mercedes the softer and more axed towards luxury that produces the faster cars. It feels unreal to me. I never considered a merc c450amg or audi s4 before but now i might. Its weird that the benchmark is the slowest out of the 3 no ?

The merc has 60 bhp more, whilst the bimmer has 1mph higher limited top speed.
komischer vergleich sind zwar beides 3l biturbo aber einmal mit Amg Gmbh und einmal serie Bmw dadurch auch der mega Unterschied.... Bmw muss stage 2 haben dann hat der an die 400 PS und 580 NM dann kann man den Test wiederholen und der Benz würde alt ausssehen XD

AMG Logo auf dem Motor fehlt.
Das ist der selbe 3.0L Motor wie er auch im C400 verbaut wird nur mit etwas höheren Ladedruck.
Hatte der BMW noch einen Gang bei 250 km/h oder war das schon das Ende? Ist meines Wissens ja eine 8 Gang Automatik, die eigentlich deutlich niedriger touren sollte.

benz just won because of higher bhp and torque, being 60+bhp and 120nm torque more still just 10 km/h difference. those numbers doesnt look quite too good for the merc
I like them both, but to be sure BMW drastically under-reports it's HP and TQ figures. Add to that the outsourced but better performing ZF unit, and it's a close contest when comparing acceleration. I prefer the Benz overall, but they are both great rides.
