- Video footage caught on a locked-off camera at a dock in Port Fourchon, Louisiana shows the immense power of Hurricane Ida as it made landfall off the US south coast. The category 4 storm moved through the state northward, causing structure damage and downed trees.

No transition made me for a split second question how fast storms hit lol
This is hilarious
Yeah, me too :D
Honestly though, the storm surge really does hit about that fast. This is obviously cut video but in the longer video it's basically the same thing. Relatively calmish, than massive surge of wind and water.
@@zelkuta Do you have a link to the longer video?
@@jamiegoodman8172 not off hand, I saw it on twitter, but you can look up the hurricane micheal landfall vid by hurricane track and see micheal make landfall as a slightly more powerful hurricane on the beach and seee the same dynamics.

Videos like these are important because many people do not understand the destructive power of a strong hurricane. The more people are aware the more prepared and/or out of harm's way they will be.
They predicted this for days - lets give meteorologists some credit for once
Not until they can predict landfall three-months in advance. That didn't sound bitter, did it?
@@RoySATX Do hurricanes exist for 3 months?
@@RoySATX such ignorance 😂 🤦🏻♂️
For once?
@@djinghiskhan9199 I don’t think it needs to exist to predict the hurricane like he meant predicting it before it even happens or starts
Wow! I don't ever want to be anywhere near a hurricane, no matter what category it's considered. Keeping everyone in the storms path in my heart, thoughts and prayers.

The Cameraman prevails. Hail Cameraman 👊
A great advert for the power of the hurricane and the camera brand.
Probably a Go Pro.
That can't be a straight transition surely?!
I don't think it was. Slow down playback speed.
It could be - assuming the footage was from in the eye of it (as it says). It'll be completely calm whilst still in the eye, but as soon as it breaches the eye wall it will go crazy.
@@tensemurm5924 "power of Hurricane Ida as it made landfall off the US south coast" - Written in the description. As it made landfall cant possibly mean 'Camera was in the eye of the storm'.
@@hiddenxalpha7053 Did you actually watch the video? Because it literally says it was recorded during the eye of the storm within the first 10 seconds.
It's just cheap video editing instead of showing the full 15 minutes of increasing wind strength. The Guardian is cheap now, they just show before/after like a protein shake pyramid scheme
No transition? 0 to straight chaos? Pointless.
There was a cut there. They are showing like a before and after thing
@@user-so2nm4gz6u Was youtube out of space to show it all? We can look at the before and after ourselves.
I want to see how quickly it got to the that stage. Full video please.
also how long it lasted, few hours like that must be so stressful
If that was the eye of the storm, then surely there is a "before" footage as well?
Yes, the same but left to right
@@donmunro4943 Nah, one side of the hurricane is much weaker
@@tensemurm5924 The eye is the middle of the storm - which is the weakest
@@oakb213 Yes, but my point was that the before footage wouldn't be the same as the after, because not all sides of the hurricane have equal strength
@@tensemurm5924 I was wondering why after the eye it seems to have broken everything but before the eye it didn't. Guess one side being weaker explains that.

"Oh just f off will you"
Lighthearted lager, so full of flavour..
Wow .. that's really scary!
This locked off camera definitely shows the power of editing
Yep, transitions between frames
If the beginning of the video was during the eye of the hurricane, would you still think this is edited? I’m genuinely curious
@@jordannewton7281 It goes from being calm to 100+ mph wind in a single frame which is impossible, especially since the camera captures audio but couldn't here anything until it was visible on screen. The only time this would be possible was is if there was a actual shock wave travelling over the speed of sound to not hear any build-up of windspeed whatsoever. All it would take is 5 frames where windspeed increases and it would be believable, a one frame skip is not.
@@jordannewton7281 The beginning was during the eye, then jump cut.
Living in Louisiana, I must say that this video doesn't do it justice. Hurricanes are scary AF! (During Katrina) Seeing your roof buckle and not knowing if it's going to get ripped off is no joke!
For all the folks that haven't experienced a hurricane, it doesn't just explode like this. lol
Violence. Speed. Momentum.
When you walk outside without waterproof thinking it'll be okay....
Did they cut some footage out. It's so hard to believe it could go from calm to chaos in under a second with no transition. There was no gradual increase in the wind at all. It went 0 to 100 real quick.
There is no transition, it goes from calm to wild between frames. I too am suspicious.
Lol, it isn't that fast. They just did a before and during type thing.
Then again, after watching it a few times it really does look like it hit all at once😂
That’s some cut take there haha
Well literally I double checked the playback speed
Thanks!
I watched this at the slowest speed and the power still seems unnatural, crazy!
