@@Fulminitro There is a 50/50 chance that the people who own the cattle are stuck right there. Moving livestock out of a disaster zone requires having a place to take them ~ just as everyone evactuating needs a place to go 'to'. Hopping in a vehicle and just randomly driving somewhere isn't any smarter than just staying put. And, if those cattle are part of a herd of 100 or more, trucking all of them anywhere is just about impossible. It's easy to sit and armchair quarterback things, but the reality is not something that can just be ignored by the people living there. There are just as many animals stuck in the fire zones ... and any catastrophic weather/nature event takes a toll. There are a lot of people living there that had absolutely no means to leave with or without animals; mostly due to lack of any money. When you can't do something, you can't. People sitting around who are safe in their own homes and not staring the problem in the face who can't manage to do anything but sling insult on top of injury are worse than the blasted storm.
@@LierinEdana if they would have any issues with money, they wouldnt have such expensive and huge animals, on an expensive and huge land. they should had to find someone in a safezone with enough space for their animals. if they sell one cattle, they also save it, and they are going to be able to save more from the money. if they sell 2 cattles, they double the chances. you can tell me that im behind a screen in a safe room, but it won't change the fact, that americans had at least 5 days to do more. its just usual laziness, and lack of responsibility. americans has a stupid organization for every tiny stupid things, but they are just care about themselves, they wont do any organization to save or care with animals too. you can try to make it prettier with words, but unfortunately the reality won't change by it. people should't keep more animals, as they can handle without any help. and this unneccesary, unresponsible capitalism is exactly what ruining our beautiful world. they had 5+ days, and you tell me there is only 2 scenarios to react for a coming hurricane. Insane.
@@Fulminitro The only place to sell any cow on such short notice is either a sale barn or a meat packing plant. Maybe you are ok with killing animals because of a storm, but most people are not. As for what Americans do during these storms, the entire network of agencies and individuals opening up their land in states all around Louisiana was incredible and a sign of the good will and generosity people in my country have when their fellow Americans need help. The attitude that only rich people deserve to have animals of any sort is medieval ... at best. You talk down about things you know nothing about, particularly farming, and call others insane? Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt. Riding out a hurricane has absolutely zero to do with capitalism btw, and there is just as much reason to save humans as there is to save animals. What a skewed and flawed view you have of life.
@@LierinEdana i didnt say such thing that only rich ppl deserve animals! I said, no one should keep 100 cattles, if they can't be responsible for each one of them, in any circumstances. If you can take responsibility for 10, keep 10, and no more. If you can't take responsibility for any animals, then don't keep them. And if they has a lot of animals, they must have a lot of land, just use your brain: they has more money than most of us. Even if you don't have money, you can make some calls, there are tons of farms. Your first thoughts about selling/giving them for anyone, is killing them. I havent said such thing also. There was at least 5 days to do something, and not everyone is a brainless butcher, to have first thoughts like this at the first place. if you have 100 cows to save, you can give someone 50, to save the other 50. Even if that someone butcher his 50 cows, you still saved your own 50, but there is a good chance to save all of them. But they just left them somewhere on their own fate. Capitalism has everything to do here: 1.) If there wouldn't be capitalism, primitive stupid people wouldnt keep more animals, as they can take care at any circumstances. 2.) if there wouldnt be capitalism, factories wouldn't produce so much shet into the air, into the water, into the Earth, because there wouldnt be so many unneccesary and pointless thing to produce, and weather wouldn't be so unviable like this. in this case; stupid, unrespoinsible people, who kept much more animals as they could handle, just didn't prepare for a well-forecasted hurricane, haven't done anything to survive until the last hours, then they just left everything behind without any second thoughts. And now they gonna blame Trump or Biden for this, and they will be very very proud of themselves, when they will go to vote next time. Around 80% of human beings couldn't afford to buy even only one cow like this one in the video. And who knows how many of them has been abandoned like this. typic capitalist, unhealthy, resource wasting, unresponsible and selfish mentality of america. maybe you dont like my worldview, but i speak truth, and you are very delusional if you can't see this. :)
These are the birth pains. God isn't taking these kind of storms away. There will be more of them. I do believe it is still possible to pray for people in these storms. You are better off just moving away from the coast.
I know it was a bad storm, but if you look at most of the snapped power poles they are like 30-year-old poles, some maybe even older. Some still had wood cross beams on them with glass insulators. What I'm getting at is if they would have been updating them they wouldn't have as massive of a power issue that they now have. My heart goes out to everyone there, those that have lost everything, and those that are now going to be without power for weeks.
The main steel transmission line is in the river. No power in regardless of aged poles. Several ton steel tower...not old wood. Underground might be the only viable solution.
@@pariahthistledowne854 Yeah, they should put it underground, but newer heavier poles would have held most of the lines up. You can see some newer heavier poles in certain areas that are all still standing. And it isn't like the state or counties haven't had time to get them replaced. I mean they're a state that has been hit many times over. Maybe they figured they would spend money elsewhere and let the government cover their replacements under a national disaster bill. It just sucks for all the citizens there. I live in Florida so I've been through many hurricanes, but my county is always working year-round to make sure the poles are good and that tree limbs are cleared from around power lines.
It’s amazing. In 1969 we put men on the moon. But here we are 50 years later and we are still putting sticks in the ground with wires to carry electricity. 😳
If you research the costs of underground power lines and the maintenance issues they presented you would understand why isn't done in most locations except certain cities that run the lines in specific cable vaults.

I'm a roofer out of florida and louisiana has some of the worst roofs i've ever seen. you get hit with hurricanes all the time and the quality of roofs put on pales in comparison to florida. metal roofs with no decking underneath. if a metal panel gets ripped off, water goes right into the house. you would think with all the weather you get that they would have stricter code enforcement. in florida we cant put a metal roof without the roof being decked with plywood. i've been been to over ten damaged metal roofs in the past ten days and zero of them had anything under the metal. low pitch roofs with no ice and water. tiny eve metal/drip edge instead of three inch. which prevents wind from getting under shingles. they dont tear the roof off to the decking. they just tear off the top layer of shingles and put new shingles on top. i tore off a roof that had three layers of different color and type shingles and the decking underneath was rotting and molded. the absolute worst roofing jobs i've ever seen and stuff that just wont fly in pensacola. LA gets hit with way more hurricanes than florida and they should have better quality roofs put on. we have offices in florida and alabama and are just now opening up in louisiana and we refuse to put on these crappy LA roofs. we tear off to the decking, replace rotting wood, use synthetic underlayment, ice and water blocker, 150 mile shingles. we put on a 50 year roof with a 10 year workmanship. if your roof leaks after we put it on we come fix it. 3 inch drip edge. flashing grade cement on all flashing. 6by6 flashing not 4by4 which is useless and against code in florida. and we charge florida prices not these inflated storm prices. been in business 46 years. BBB certified in pensacola and in the process of getting BBB certified in louisiana. don't let whats happening in this video happen to your roof.

I don't get it. All the prayers to keep people safe. Didn't you pray for the storm to go out to sea?
These are the birth pains. God isn't taking these kind of storms away. There will be more of them. I do believe it is still possible to pray for people in these storms. You are better off just moving away from the coast.
Poor animals! Animals don't have choices like people do. I feel so bad for them.
They can sense storms they either leave or choose to sit it out like humans.

I caught the Twister reference. "We got cows!"
Did you hear the dog around 2:22?☹️

It’s amazing. In 1969 we put men on the moon. But here we are 50 years later and we are still putting sticks in the ground with wires to carry electricity. 😳
Yes!
No one went to the moon
If you research the costs of underground power lines and the maintenance issues they presented you would understand why isn't done in most locations except certain cities that run the lines in specific cable vaults.

Only the people in the right eyewall lose everything and the eyewall usually isn't the wide. In Hurricane Charlie is was 30 miles wide.

Impatiently waiting for it to hit us in Monroe LA. Ready for it to just be over!!!! This is the last hurricane I go through without a generator

The power's all out, last I heard. Some folks have generators, though. After all the fires out here in CA I've been longing for a standby generator. With my older home, I've got a gas line and basically that makes the idea even more practical--no toting jugs of gas around, just hook it up to the line. I'm sure some NOLA folks have done the same. A lot of hotels do.
Roofs gone? I think some of the homes were ripped to the ground
Brave effort 👍. Those trees that could weather this storm are really hard. And wonderful to see those cattle fighting the storm in their own safe way!
I pray that every first responder stays safe during the hurricane.
Not worth risking your life to drive in that weather when a mandatory curfew was put. In the past few years, people died doing this or to capture pictures.
These are storm chasers and meteorologists. They know the risks. I followed one live yesterday. He deployed special instruments to measure storm surge and barometric pressures. Amazing documentation.
