Kind of fun to start watching a knife video and be able to say, "Hey, I have that same model of knife in my own pocket right now!" Then get it out and appreciate it in person while it is also discussed onscreen. Doesn't happen often for me because I don't own as many knives as I wish I could, but that scarcity makes it all the more fun when it does happen.

Benchmade's Lifes-harp is more than just sharpening. They will also, clean, tune, and replace parts if needed, all included in the service. I never fail to mention this to people when they talk about Benchmade's "butterfly tax". The Presidio 2 CF elite has been my go-to EDC do everything knife since I got it when it first came out. One of my favorite knives, not just right now, but of ALL TIME. They hit it out of the park with this one.

Like “Haymaker” said in his comment, it’s fun to see knives that you own in a knife reviewer’s video. I have the Recon 1, the RAT 1 and the Civivi Praxis. I will never spend $400+ on a pocket knife ( Sebenza ) that can be easily lost. One of my favorites that I have and consider large is the Zero Tolerance ZT0562.

I couldn't agree more Johnathan, I love that knife. In fact, I like it so much that I have the large and mini and the old version. Maybe more people will like them with the new CF-Elite scales. Welcome to the channel, glad to have ya.

    • @702johnny

@@TheKnifeBeater I actually found your channel because of an older video you had on the original precidio. I agree with the comparison. The old on is a bit on the heavy side. But it is built like a tank. The aluminum scales were a bit slippery at first. The paint has worn a bit on the pocket clip as well. The new version seems to have resolved all its downfalls. The blade on it is great for most uses. Just a great all around hard use edc.

@@TheKnifeBeater They are great blades. Mine tried to kill me lol. I was sharpening it when my cat started to jump on a hot plate I just used to make some coffee with. I had the knife balanced on my knee and when I reached to stop the cat from getting burned it fell and sunk close to an inch in my lower leg.
I completely soaked two rolls of paper towels and was seriously starting to think I was going to bleed out.
I've been stabbed and cut several times but never bled anything like this time.
After this experience I concluded that the counterpoints would be pretty formidable self-defense tools. I guess this would be a good example of letting the tool do all the work. I think the rest of my tools are a bunch of lazy bums cause they never do any work and I end up having to do it all myself. :)

I know this is for large “user” knives, but I am a big fan of “big” knives. I EDC a CS Frenzy on my person. It’s light, it’s big, I forget that it’s in my waistband, and it gives me 5.5 in of pointy S35vn for ~$125. What’s not to like.
Also, Put a Snaggletooth on it. Awesome.

    • @TheKnifeBeater

    • @infra_r3d133

The ST helps that Triad lock fly open with a very loud and satisfying snap. That’s the catch tho, you are not getting this thing out quietly unless you intentionally draw it to miss the ST catch. Have you ever tried a Snaggletooth? I know a couple people who have them on their Recon 1’s.

Great videos J! Thank you for sharing. You guys don't even realize how lucky you are living in US. I am collecting EDC knives and I am proud of my collection, especially of a few mega expensive ones. But the hoops I had to jump to acquire them here in Australia - that's another matter. The bladed weapon laws not only prohibit possessing any kind of pocket knives, but the most idiotic and beyond comprehension is a legislation stating that even Leatherman pocket multitool is a weapon as long as it is steel and one must not carry it unless it is a tool in a toolbox to perform work. Forget a MacGyver swiss army knife. Obviously, the only knives you are allowed to have (at home only) are the kitchen knives. And of course your right to self-defense (even in your own dwelling) doesn't exist.

New here, I like the content and how enthusiastic you are. Nice to not see calipers and a scale in every video lol. I'd add maybe a cold steel sr1 the only thing I don't like is like what you mentioned about the recon 1 which is the aggressive g10 and it's a pocket destroyer. The other would be the cold steel AD10. Ok, so it does have a 3.5 inch blade supposedly but it sure does feel like a big knife. Again, thanks for the content.

    • @TheKnifeBeater
      @TheKnifeBeater  4 роки тому +1

Thank you much Orendz, welcome to the channel. You're right, the the AD10 is a big knife, regardless if the blade measures 3.5" or 3.6". The only reason I left it off the list was because I honestly don't carry it much. Now, if the COVID-19 situation was followed by a zombie apocalypse, you better believe the AD10 will be in my pocket.

@@TheKnifeBeater Well, my number 10 with the corkscrew has such a springy collar, that it guarantees front-to-back blade wiggle, and I can open the lock by wiggling the blade in seconds. I would choose a reliable back lock or a liner lock for utility any day. The wiggly locking collar is not fun with a humongous pocket sword like the 13. The corkscrew is pretty solid though.
