Remember black people, if you are not happy in the urban area where you currently live, you are not going to be happy when you relocate unless you change. Some folk are complaining because they can't find a good man/woman, a church, a good paying job, a social connection, and are complaining because they are simply bored. If you don't grow and change from within, those same demons are going to follow you where ever you go. You define the community, the community should not define you.
that is what I am concerned about for myself....I make good money owning my own business where I live....but would like to have more of a dating option and better education for my children with people of color not just white people. But I don't have many friends in my city and spend all my time running my business and raising my kids relocating may b more of the same.
I get what you saying but sometimes you may need a change of environment to get a piece of mind separation is elevation im leaving my hometown and I can careless how people feel I know I’ll be good God got me 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Charlotte is an amazing city. Yes people will compare it to Atlanta but that’s really a compliment. North Carolina as a whole is an amazing state for black Americans to explore. So many opportunities to create and succeed here.
I live in Charlotte. Moved here 3 years ago and so much has changed very quickly. It’s extremely crowded. You need a car out here and I feel like I’m always stuck in traffic. Only get a very short window to not be stuck in traffic. So many accidents on the interstate every singe day it’s mentally draining. It’s extremely expensive to live here. All these half million and million dollar homes being built driving up the cost of living tremendously. It rains a lot. It don’t hurt to have some rain boots. Dating here is a challenge. People are already married, long term dating, or already divorced. But they do have great restaurants, cool places to visit, hiking, great paying careers.
@@KayleneRomero-oz7yz it’s so many farmer markets here and for health food stores you got sprouts (2 locations) Trader Joe’s (2 locations) and Whole Foods . The hospital supposedly the best but it’s really run like a big business here so yeahh ..they open up a new urgent care or office every second . I never lived somewhere like this where it may be a medical office on every other street
We've been here for 2 years now. (From the south, but moved here from Boston, MA) People always ask if I like it here ...and it's a resounding yes! This video does a comprehensive job of explaining why I like living here!
Living in Portland ME. Paying $1600 for a 1 bedroom apt. and a very low probability of ownership in the Northeast with CNA wages. Hopefully 2023 will be my last winter in Maine. What should a first-time home hacker consider moving from the Northeast to Charlotte NC? If you have time to answer that question. Thank you Dee Rich.
I moved to Charlotte, NC four years ago and I love it. The city has grown tremendously in the short four years that I have been here. I have met a lot of young successful black people. I can't wait to see more growth in the city. I wish black people here did more together and created black wall street or similar. I see the Asian and Hispanic communities all across the city with stores and restaurants. The job market is good if you are in finances, banking, or tech. There are either good-paying jobs in the city, too. The rent has increased over the years and now a 1 bedroom is around 1200 a month. There are a lot of nice homes outside the city limits and within a 30 miles radius of Charlotte. I want to live in the city so I'm willing to pay the rent or mortgage. Charlotte doesn't have a large night life and a lot of the food places close early. But don't let that stop you from enjoying the good food here. A lot of sporting events, concerts, and entertainment depending on your social circles. Public Transportation is not the best so please have a car if you move here. Please please please network with other black professionals and build those relationships with them.
I’m thinking about moving to Charlotte from Detroit Michigan. Limited night life and early closings sound very good to me. Sounds like peaceful living. Detroit tends to be an ongoing party that doesn’t stop. I hate it
I live in Raleigh and work in Charlotte and love both cities. Raleigh also has a very strong black population and is one of the top cities thriving black excellence.
I’ve been wanting to move to Charlotte since 2015. I’m seriously considering the move within the next year, especially now that I know that we are almost an equal majority there!
We have a primary home in Little Rock, AR, and purchased a second property here in Charlotte last month to be near my daughter’s growing family. Still in sticker shock to pay well over the listing price after losing out twice before. So far, I love it here. It’s not too big, has enough culture, lots of trees and a greenway just steps away.
I'm currently in Charlotte....I've been here 7 years...rent is OUTRAGEOUS if you're paying rent... I'm just gonna keep it a buck 🤷🏾♀️🤣🤣 it's an influx of thousands of ppl here every month and that's why they're throwing up apartments and "condos" any and everywhere and you will most definitely pay to live inside the city limits🤷🏾♀️🤣 I will say I enjoy seeing other melanated ppl here and have good jobs or are great entrepreneurs...I will also admit jobs and decent paying jobs(more than 7.25 bc that's still minimum wage in NC😩) and they're not hard to obtain....oh and the weather is beautiful...you can definitely feel all the seasons here and it never snows 🤣
Um..it definitely snows in Charlotte. Even if it only happens every few years it definitely snows. It snowed every weekend for a month in January 2022. Is it an insane amount...no...but wouldn't want people to think it literally never snows 😉
Wow I’m not feeling the same. I can’t wait to leave this place. It’s too crowded now, rents are ridiculous and the “southern charm” is gone! Too many northerners and Californians are here now. Next year I’m out of here!
@@kimberlynicole6588 girrrr STOPPP it did not dam snow everyday this past January 🤌🏾🤣🤣 the cap is unnecessary...I moved here from ohio so you think idk WTH snow is or looks like 🥴🤦🏾♀️🤣🤣 cut it out...I've been here a minute and it's snowed, and I'm talking about snow you see on the ground and didn't melt away after 3 minutes🤣🤣, a legit 3x maybe and that's pushing it🙄🤣
@@gypsyislandgal1118 you here in Charlotte sis? But that's why I kept it real with my comment🤣🤣 it's such an influx that it's alot of ppl here and the cost of living isn't matching the wages and its not enough housing, hence why I said they're throwing up buildings and houses any and everywhere, even if it's a space the size of your parking space at work🥴🤭🤣🤣🤣 it's ludicrous and like I also mentioned I'd you're renting you have to make 3x the rent for places that aren't either worth it or you're paying for example $1300 for a 2 bedroom 🥴🤦🏾♀️ I ain't even bring up GENTRIFICATION and it's sad how all black areas and neighborhoods are now too high to live in for the elderly who have been there for years😩 or they're tricking them or bullying them into selling and low balling the amounts.....or how you'll ride down a certain road or 2 or 3 to get downtown and you have to pass a whole dam block of homeless ppl, while you're seeing these billion dollar buildings and banks😪 crazy AF and lastly I've seen and know a few HOMELESS ppl who happen to have 2 jobs or maybe even a business 🤦🏾♀️ I've never been nowhere and seen homeless ppl with jobs and families, maybe a few jobs at that and half of the city is a check or 2 away from being on the mf street🤌🏾🙄😩🤦🏾♀️ but I digress 🤣🤣
I was born and raised in Charlotte and moved to the Tampa Bay Area and want to move back. 1) family(of course) 2)black culture 3)school for my children
Definitely has been placed on my spirit to relocate here. Gonna visit soon, because I have been hearing about the black excellence that radiates in this city! I’m here for it! #LoveMyPeople
True indeed brother, but I'm retiring to Kigali Rwanda myself. And I'm buying a second home in Durban south Africa. Peace and love to the beautiful people of south Africa and the entire continent of Africa ✊.💯
I've been in Charlotte for 4.5 years and I think this is going to become my resting place. I still have to adjust to how slow (dated) it is. I saw a lady with a French roll the other day and Dodge Challengers are everywhere. I'm from Detroit, Challengers were popular in Detroit ten years ago. But, it's a lovely city nonetheless. For those of you who are mad at all the people moving here... you should probably consider therapy or redirecting your energy into building a business or something. People are gonna move where they want. Take advantage of the growth and get your bag up.
@@SOHK313 I don't have children so I can only pass on what I have been told by a handful of people about Charlotte's school system and apparently, the schools aren't so great. South Carolina is a skip away and I was told the schools there are much better. But I imagine Charlotte's schools are exemplary compared to the D. I think the insurance rates in Detroit should be against the law. So, there's that.
I was born in Washington, DC and grew up in neighboring Prince Georges County. I lived in that area all of my life until 2012, when I moved to Charlotte to start my business. As a person who has traveled to every major Black city in the country, please allow me the opportunity to break Charlotte all the way down for you! Charlotte is a city that is heavily segregated by the haves and the have nots. If you have money in Charlotte, you can live well, meet a lot of people and have a moderate amount of fun (Charlotte can get boring at times), but if you're broke, forget it! You will hate Charlotte. And when I say "broke", I mean living paycheck to paycheck. There's literally nothing to do here that's free. They just now stopped charging folks a "membership fee" to get into various clubs and cigar lounges. Next, the Blacks in Charlotte are not progressive at all. If you are even remotely entrepreneurial, you can open a business and make money in Charlotte, largely because there's not much competition, and the people are desperately looking for something to do and it's easy to get it poppin' here. So for that reason alone, a Black person should move here and start a business. The main reason you won't find a lot of nice clubs and lounges here is not because it's an "old southern, sleepy town", but because of something called the ABC board. This board regulates all liquor in the state and as a business owner, you have to buy liquor at damn near retail prices. Most club and lounge owners make most of their money from the sale of liquor, so if they can't get it directly from the distributor, what's the use of opening a club or lounge? Because of the low profitability of liquor sales, you'll find most places charge a cover to make up for it. The good news is I hear they're going to be getting rid of the ABC board soon, but I'll believe it when I see it. Once that happens, the club and lounge scene will change and the city will become more vibrant. Next, there's a bit of jealousy here amongst Black folks. That's simply because of the large income gaps. The Blacks that have moved here seem to have moved here for jobs and not just because they wanted to move to Charlotte. What that has done is created an income gap between the Blacks that were born here and the ones that moved here and there's definitely some animosity because of it. Charlotte did not do a good job at helping the natives raise their incomes through training and education, but decided to import their workforce from other places instead of hiring the people that were already here, so they're largely being ignored because of the "new Blacks" that have come to the area. You won't find too many native Charlotteans in Charlotte and if they're here, they stay in their original neighborhoods and don't venture out much. This is also the reason you don't see a lot of Blacks out and about is because they largely still have close ties to friends and family back where they relocated from. Many Blacks travel back to MD, DC, OH, NJ, all the time because it's so close and flights to those areas are inexpensive. Additionally, many of your wealthier Blacks live in neighboring Union County and they stay out there because there's tons of amenities in Union County as well. Charlotte is the banking capital of the U.S. and many of your professionals are in banking and finance. I noticed that when TRUIST merged with BB&T and moved it's headquarters to Charlotte, there are a lot more younger people in the city, particularly in the South End area. FYI...Charlotte is a playground for young white people. They have a ball!! Lot's of brewery's and beer gardens like on every corner. If you're a foodie, Charlotte has descent restaurants and the brunch scene seems to be "lit", but what I can't understand for the life of me is why they don't have amazing soul food? I mean it is the south, but Soul Food is very limited and sub par here. The great news is Charlotte is close to water so you can always get to a beach withing a two-hour drive. We go to Charleston, SC all the time. Being from DC/MD, I slept on SC and the nice beaches and resorts they have down there. Also, SC has good Soul Food so we get our soul food fix from there. Charlotte is the southern part of NC so you're literally a hop, skip and a jump from South Carolina. Jobs seem to be plentiful here though. Again, there's the banking, but there's also Lowe's headquarters, Red Ventures, Duke Energy etc. And these companies hire all the time. There's also a big Amazon presence here as well. As for shopping, it's cool but I would like to see more boutiques. The lack of boutiques further proves my point about Black entrepreneurs in the city. If you go to ATL, DC, Chicago, Houston, you'll find tons of cute black owned boutiques, but not in Charlotte which is crazy because there are so many Black folks here. I live near South Park Mall which is the premier mall in Charlotte and it can't touch where I grew up shopping in the DMV but it's not bad. There's a descent outlet mall as well so you can find pretty much anything you need. But if you want a higher end Nordstrom or a Saks Fifth Avenue, you have to go to Raleigh. And there's no ZARA in the entire state of NC which is weird to me because there's tons of money here based off of banking, football, basketball and Nascar alone. Housing in nicer areas is getting expensive so if you plan on moving here, hurry up. Now let's talk about churches, there are none. The church scene in Charlotte is old and dead. Most people go to Elevation which is a white pastor and I just can't do that. If you're looking for a good church home, it's gonna be hard to find it in Charlotte (another odd thing for sure). If I was a "GOOD" Pastor, I would build a church in Charlotte. You'd have a packed house in no time. Schools are descent depending upon where you live, just like any other major city. Right now, Union County boast the best schools. If you're single, looking for a robust dating scene, I believe it's coming. With the banking scene bustling, there are tons of singles all around the city. If I had to rate Charlotte, I would give it a 7/10. The one piece of advise I would give anyone looking to move here is this: Don't expect it to be jumping like Atlanta or Houston, because it's not, but it's on the verge and you want to be here before that happens. Come now! Don't wait because there are opportunities for Black folks, they know it, and they're coming. And with this whole "come back home" movement going on around the country, Charlotte is the perfect southern location, that's centrally located and not too far from the north. This is the time to come while you can still get in fairly early. In about five years, the entire city will be changed. And if they actually abolish the ABC board, it will change overnight and you don't want to be a "Jonnie come lately". I always tell Black folks to stop being a "wait and see" type of people. Be trailblazers and make the city what you want it to be. The opportunity to do that is here in Charlotte and not so much in other southern places unless you go to Arkansas, Alabama or Mississippi. And those places just haven't built up enough yet. I could write more but this is already too long. Hope this helps!
Thank you for this comprehensive take on Black relocation to Charlotte, I agree with almost everything you posited. What is your business venture in the area, my family is always looking to support entrepreneurs.
I am a white guy but what I tell anyone who wants to move to Charlotte is to get a police scanner and just visit first and listen. Rapes, shootings, assaults, drugs and yes murders are pretty much an everyday occurrence. I worked for CATS the bus and light rail providers for the city as private security and can pretty much say it is unusable without the constant fear for your own personal welfare. Cops are apathetic about their jobs due to people being let out so fast that the cops do not have time to do the paperwork. Heck just prior to me quitting my job I had to stop a guy who just attacked a woman on Betties Ford Road in charlotte. He drug her into the middle of the road and was smashing her head into the road curb. That was his 3rd assault for the day the cops told me they had arrested him 2 prior times that same day for the very same issue. Want to move to Charlotte do what everyone else does white or black move to the surrounding counties to live/ raise your kids and drive into Charlotte for your job if you just have to work there.
Stop telling everyone to move here. How come you always mention Southern cities to move to on this channel? They come here with Northern attitudes & nastiness, don't know how to be nice or talk to anyone without having a attitude. There's barely decent housing and a one bedroom is $1,200 a month if you want to live decent neighborhood. Five years ago, the cost was $800. Northerners come here and complain the whole damn time, comparing it to the North, but yet won't leave bc it's so called "cheaper"....naw, it USED TO BE. Everything has gone up bc people keep moving to SC, NC, FL, and GA. Its overcrowded as hell now in the South.

💯 I agree. I’m from Alabama, and Lisa Cabrera recently reported that a lot of people are starting to migrate down to the Birmingham area. It probably won’t be long before they start mingling down to Montgomery (my area). THE COMPLAINERS ARE THE WORST!!! 🙄 There once was a time when I wanted to be a “BIG city girl,” 🤦🏽♀️ and moved to and fro “city-hopping” all throughout my 20’s-early 30’s. Thankfully, I was offered a job teaching back in my native area, which brought me back home. 👍🏾 Now that I’m older, wiser, and more mature, I understand the value of being surrounded by land, good morals and “wide-open spaces.” Not interested at all in any Westerners or Northerners moving Down South. Y’all stay where you’re at! 😂🤷🏽♀️ #sorrynotsorry
It's too high in other locations lol. Besides, Black folks originate from the South, we're just going back. It's other people now & greedy developers that are causing the overcrowding.
Y’all love to blame northerners for everything but we bring the wages. You blame us for the cost of living going up but that’s life. It won’t stay $800 forever. I’ve been here 3 years and can’t understand why people have not been mad about the low paying wages instead of blaming northerners. Let’s also talk about the awful driving and absolutely zero consequences. I’ve seen and have people in my family and circle be in major car accidents by drivers running red lights, not using their signals, speeding, and not yielding into the highway with ongoing traffic. All things which northerners get in DO NOT get away with doing. People here are not as nice as you think they are. North Carolina is the most passive aggressive city I’ve ever visited and lived in. I do love it but it lacks plenty and it’s not comparison but to any city but there’s always room for upgrades and that’s okay.
Great idea Kayla! My daughter did the same thing after a few trips to Charlotte to visit one of her friends from high school, she decided to make that move to Charlotte, and has never looked back! Now she's saving for her own home!
I moved out of NC four years ago, but really thinking about moving back and living in Charlotte, but I just don't know how to do it without having a job in place. It's so hard to find a decent job.
Depending On Your Field, The Job Scene Isn't The Best In Charlotte. Alot Of Companies Low-ball Your Pay. Cost Of Living Definitely Doesn't Match Your Check 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
Millennial Atlanta native here! I lived in Charlotte for 4 years for work and it has its pro and cons! The job market is great (Charlotte will pay you!!) everything is less than 30 min away and the cost of living is decent about $1350 for a 1 bedroom or around $270,000- lower 300s for the new townhomes springing up all over Charlotte vs ATL $1600/ $350s as the average and can be a great The night life is not the best. Charlotte can get boring and there were days where I felt as if what can I do if I done already did the little things Charlotte does have. The good black owned spots closes Early or shuts down in 6-12 months of opening) plus almost every bar/ lounge is now charging a $20 membership fee which is crazy but is due to a law in NC. The blacks are different from Atlanta blacks (their is no culture) they are not as progressive in CLT and simply goes to their 9-5 and then goes home! If your the type like me to step out here and There and do hookah, taco Tuesday, Sunday funday or simply have drinks after a long day at the office then this is not the city for you lol. People in CLT barely like to get out during the week day! The Charlotte natives simply do not venture out at all due to “always feeling left out” or not wanting to go places because it was deemed as a “white” spot or too pricey and their is a huge income gap within the blacks in Charlotte and is shown by the affluent/Middle class blacks and how I’ve noticed they treat and talk about the lower income individuals .The affluent blacks in town tend to live in Steele creek area, or the mallard creek/parts of the university area ( I lived in Highland creek and loved it) and the lower income blacks live mostly west and east of Charlotte. Beware if you have children their isn’t much for kids to do. When my younger siblings/cousins came to town it’s was very slim on where I could take them, their is hardly any city events geared to blacks people smh. For the most part Charlotte is steadily growing and can be breath of fresh air if your coming form a smaller city or looking to live in nice size city but not too big and are looking to elevate in life career wise or start a family. Only time will tell if a “CULTURE” will fully develop in the city For fun just take the 3.5 hour road trip to Atlanta lol
As a native Charlottean, I'm disappointed with the city. The school system is horrible. kids aren't learning like they should, public transportation is bad, its a shooting damn near every day, homeless rates are high, no affordable housing, need more activities for kids. It's overcrowded, and traffic is horrible. Charlotte doesn't preserve the history.
Now that's a Very Truthful perspective. When the tourism and visitors bureau gives you the sales pitch like in this video, beware. You can believe they have not been in the hardcore hoods, and if so, they may have pulled their hats over their faces and stayed in the car.
At 26:45 is the Fury 325 ride. I have visited Carowinds three times and finally this year I got the guts to ride that rollercoaster. I road on it at nighttime and that first hill was breath taking and scary yet fun.
I will be moving from Detroit Michigan currently saving I plan on leaving in a year or two with 50k-100k to either buy a established business like a liquor store or start my own real estate firm. Charolette is definitely on my list along with Florida, Atalanta, and Arizona.
I lived here for 7 years and lemme just say its gone down hill pretty far and ill leave it at that ... but yes a LOT of black people in the city we basically surround the whole metro area of charlotte but i would wait for the housing crash then move there like seriously ... housing is insane to acquire right now and waay overpriced
I’m debating on going to either Raleigh or Charlotte. I’m not into the nightlife and sports, but more on the laid back, nature, trails, parks type. However, I do enjoy the business of the city at times🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
@@SilTheWriter Hey 👋🏽 Im leaning more towards Raleigh due to high quality of life, plus it’s growing, but Greenville, SC has caught my eye as well so we’ll see what happens.

@@sheenahammond1442 my decision to move to Dallas from Seattle was based on the opportunities in Dallas. It was growing, has excellent school districts, and a lot of family oriented things to do. My daughter benefited academically and athletically moving to the area. I haven't regretted my move at all, but began to rethink after the Arctic Blast in 2021 situation and what's been going on politically within the state the last couple of years. Lol. Lately I've been telling people to wait until after our next governor election before deciding to move here. 🤷🏽♀️ Other than that, weather is an adjustment, great food, things to do. At the 0:31 part of the video features a part of Downtown Cincinnati where I currently live and NOT Charlotte, NC. I'm familiar with Cincinnati skyline such as the Underground Railroad Freedom Center, The Scripps Howard Building where who's an affiliate of The Cincinnati Enquirer and WCPO 9 News along with the Great American Financial Tower which is across the street from Great American Ball Park. I think the mix up came because BOTH Charlotte and Cincinnati call themselves The Queen City. This part of the video Shows The Banks section of Downtown Cincy along The Ohio River. Just thought to give you a heads up!
yes we are from are nyc and we here the place is rising in rent. but, cheaper than here, but, for families its a better places to live thats a pro in my opinion.
I never knew Charlotte had so much to do besides the usual tourist attractions. I am moving two hours away but it’s nice that I can go there for a weekend and enjoy myself
I think sometimes you have to experience a place yourself. I let a video like this convince me and I regret it. Southern hospitality? These are some of the rudest people I’ve encountered! The traffic is horrible and the people can’t drive. It’s overpriced for no reason. You can move to the smaller more affordable nearby town and still enjoy Charlotte’s tourist attractions. It’s what I’d suggest.
@ Yeah Ok I totally agree with people need to experience places for themselves because I lived in Charlotte for a few years and it's absolutely boring, the food scene is hit or miss and overly expensive and the job scene saying wasn't that great either depending upon the field that you're in. One of the plus is that Charlotte isn't that far from major cities as well as the beaches, but that's about it for me. Everything is not for everybody 🙄
I really LOVE, your content! Your channel helps a great deal of Black men and women, when it comes to where to consider moving, a much needed platform to go to. My daughter moved to Charlotte NC 4 years ago, and she says, Charlotte is where she's going to stay! I'm considered a "Baby Boomer," and just from the information you've shown me, and especially my daughter saying she's not coming back to Buffalo NY, I guess I'll be a North Carolinian in the next two years! Lol
Also good market for black business, Atlanta is a bit saturated as far as black business everybody trying to do the same thing but here in Charlotte you have more of a open market and it's very welcoming of new black businesses and the job market is good as well, and Charlotte is a renter's market so it's a lot of people that rent in this city the housing market is starting to boom over the last few years especially after covid but if you're a real estate investor this is a good market to have rental property 👍🏽
@@s.fraser5221 Houston really is a great city. Cheaper cost of living in comparison to most major cities, no state tax, lots to do, great food, diverse, good jobs, hardly any cold weather, nightlife top tier...I guess I'm just used to it though and a smaller city the size of Charlotte strikes me as a good option.
I've been juggling on if I want to move back to Houston or have a new start in Charlotte. I may visit Charlotte for about a week in a few months to help me make my decision.
I’ve never been to Charlotte(planning a trip soon) but I lived in Houston a few yrs, and I’m deciding between the two. I lived in ATL 2 yrs recently and was like hell no, I got up out of there soon as C-19 numbers started to go down. Houston has it’s cons, but I lived in the suburbs so it was ok. The cost of living is still affordable which isn’t the case for most big cities now.
@@mochamami439 ok cool so we're or were in similar situations when it comes to moving to cities. I use to live in Atlanta a few years ago for a couple of years and I couldn't do it. Don't get me wrong Atlanta is ok as far as it being a black mecca but it's too much crime over there. The only way I refer people to move there is if it's outside the city. And as far as Houston goes, the reason why I may move back to Houston is because I have a sibling that moved there over a year ago and I do miss her and my nieces and nephews but Houston isn't really my first choice to relocate to tbh but in my opinion it's better than living in Atlanta.
I’d try Charlotte!!! Texas is becoming more and more overcrowded with Californians, so it’s losing it’s Southern appeal (so I’ve heard). I drove through Charlotte with an ex on our way to Asheville. It’s aesthetically beautiful, but besides us stopping by a mall, I didn’t get a chance to get a full vibe of city, but from what I saw, it’s cool.
@@CodyCole80 that's what I've been told from people that visited Charlotte that's it's really beautiful and the city is clean. But my only concern is that if I'll be able to snag me a man because I also heard that dating is kinda difficult there because most of the men there are married and the single men there isn't ready to commit or dates interracially.
@@MarikoRose333 😐 Dating has become difficult everywhere Sis. If I were you, I would consider what options benefit me as a single woman, and when TMH is ready for you to receive your king, He’ll send him to find you, regardless of where you are. I lived in Charlotte for 3 yrs. I experienced severe culture shock as the city was extremely segregated. It was also hard for me to find black professionals in Charlotte. If I were to do it over again. I would have moved to Cary or Raleigh. Research Triangle is like a black mini Silicon Valley.
You have to attend the black business owners of Charlotte events and network. I first attended a black food truck event and met many black professionals there.
Raleigh area is waaaay more segregated. I lived there for two years and felt like I went back in time. I lived on the North Side of Raleigh and was in total shock when I visited the south side. It felt like a total different city. And it was a drastic change. To be honest, it was similar to the East/West blvd shift here in Charlotte, but Id say there's more of a distinction between classes than race, and even that line is blurred.
I've lived in Raleigh in my college yrs and live in Charlotte now (for over 20yrs). I miss Raleigh, but I visit when I can. Charlotte is home, for now, until it gets too crowded. Might leave in a few yrs.
A Correction needs to be made. Charlotte is the second largest city in the southern states. Which means that it's larger than Atlanta not smaller as stated, Jacksonville FL being the first largest.
Worst decision I made ever to move here, there is no jobs, and very low pay if you do work, the system here sucks. Nothing to do, I thought living in NY was bad. Moved here for a better quality of life.
I just got a job offer in Charlotte being close to 6 figures I would love to connect with my like-minded African Americans. When I went to visit, everyone was nice though. Someone, please help me in finding a home, everyone is telling me south charlotte
I hear the Steele Creek area is a very nice area. You can watch the "Langston 2092" channel or "Long Live Langston " channel on UA-cam and he speaks highly of Charlotte.

Atlanta is nice as far as it being a black mecca but it's not all that's cracked up to be. The city became heavily crime ridden before I moved out the city and has gotten worse after I moved outta the city since then. If people prefer Atlanta then the best option is to live outside of the city.
@@diamondsandlipgloss I chose Atlanta because opportunities are better for a person with my type of mentality. And the lifestyle is better for a person with my mentality.

Is this a paid advertisement!?!?Charlotte is a beautiful city with many advantages and countless disadvantages: some issues that are difficult to reconcile include the blatant segregation, educational disparities within the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, and disproportional wage gaps.
I love it here I moved from Ohio and everyone that visits me wants to move here we love it here the people are cool you meet people from everywhere here in Charlotte I love the Sun the trees it's beautiful most of the time made the best decision of my life.
I work in and around Charlotte, and will tell you traffic is horrible, crime, roads are banged up. Housing costs are through the roof so yea you want to move here have big money to live in a nice neighborhood.
The comments are hilarious. It is all perspective! If you come from a larger city- you love it. People from smaller cities think that is is crowded. The complaints that people have are just “big city issues”. It can not grow without many of those issues.
Charlotte is still stuck in the 60’s take my word for it! I was born & raised here. I left for 14 yrs (ATL) came back & it’s still very stagnated. I’m leaving this week to a better place, I can’t take it. They have no night life, no places to really chill for you and your friends if just want to hang out. Now if you have money it’s plenty of room to create opportunities. Charlotte has lost MILLIONS of dollars because of the people that run the city. They aren’t LGBTQ friendly because it’s a Bible Belt Churches everywhere. Great schools for the children tho. Choose wisely! Definitely visit and ask A LOT of questions. Also remember NC is a red state so that alone speaks volumes. Good luck! 🌟
Wow. My experience has been the complete opposite. But I get it...I feel the same way about my hometown. We've loved living here and found there to be plenty of engaging things to do.
Seriously, it sounds like a dream to me I just want to get out of Florida! I see all these videos talking about how awesome how awesome the city is? What else don't you like about it?
No! Please stop! Charlotte is full! So many people migrating here in the past 10 years has contributed to the lack of affordable housing and skyrocketing rent prices. Encouraging more people to move here will make it worse. Pick another city please!

I’m looking to moving to North Carolina in the future from New Jersey. But I don’t exactly want to move to the inner crowded cities. I’m an introvert that prefers more quiet slower places. But I’ve been reading online that there are some racist suburbs outside of Charlotte. Anyone have any recommendations of places outside of Charlotte that are welcoming to black people?
I hope with the more blacks moving into the city it will help those who are native here develope some kind of personality and better customer service 😐. Other than that Charlotte is cool, been living here off and on since 2007
Remember black people, if you are not happy in the urban area where you currently live, you are not going to be happy when you relocate unless you change.

So, you coming or nah?!?! Lol

THE COMPLAINERS ARE THE WORST!!! 🙄
There once was a time when I wanted to be a “BIG city girl,” 🤦🏽♀️ and moved to and fro “city-hopping” all throughout my 20’s-early 30’s. Thankfully, I was offered a job teaching back in my native area, which brought me back home. 👍🏾
Now that I’m older, wiser, and more mature, I understand the value of being surrounded by land, good morals and “wide-open spaces.” Not interested at all in any Westerners or Northerners moving Down South.

I think you hit the nail on the head
As a native Charlottean, I'm disappointed with the city. The school system is horrible. kids aren't learning like they should, public transportation is bad, its a shooting damn near every day, homeless rates are high, no affordable housing, need more activities for kids. It's overcrowded, and traffic is horrible. Charlotte doesn't preserve the history.
Thank you!!💯💯💯👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you for this. Now I'm well aware
I told my wife two years ago. Something is pulling me to Charlott. Like some type of spitural pull.
Fast and pray about it, then move accordingly.
Same here! I’m finally making my move in July🙌🏾🙏🏾
The intro music makes me 💃🏾 all the time ....good video as always!
I’m debating on going to either Raleigh or Charlotte. I’m not into the nightlife and sports, but more on the laid back, nature, trails, parks type. However, I do enjoy the business of the city at times🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Did you decide on either city? I’m looking to move to one of the cities next summer when my little one finishes elementary!
@@SilTheWriter Hey 👋🏽 Im leaning more towards Raleigh due to high quality of life, plus it’s growing, but Greenville, SC has caught my eye as well so we’ll see what happens.
I cant wait to move to Charlotte after I retire from the US Army this year!!!
I moved to Charlotte in 2018. I enjoyed it at first but after a couple of years it has gotten pretty dangerous out here. Be careful out here!
I truly enjoy this channel ❤🌷
It certainly is worth stirring the Hornet's Nest here in North Carolina... 💪🏾🔥👍🏾
I have multiple friends that love Charlotte. DMV area next please!
I disagree with #31. As a NC native no place in NC is walkable and public transportation sucks. You need a car if you live in NC.
Charlotte is no NYC but it's public Transportation system is good and improving . The story in NC is what's happened with Charlottes black billionaire heir Tyree Maurice Burris-Hunt considered in late 2013 as USA 🇺🇸 wealthiest blackman. About August 2013 he hosted a two press conferences on the footsteps of Duke Energy Tower 500 S. Tryon St Charlotte, Senior Duke Execs. confirmed his claim of owing the building and a minority share in the company and J.P Morgan.
His story went viral after WPEG Power 98 FM Charlotte NC Broadcaster Artie The One Woman Party hosted him monthly on her show, he made a 1 Million $ Challenge to staff & listeners who could find error in his claims. The Challenge was broadcast by Steve Harvey Atlanta, Kurt Alexander Big Boys Neighborhood REAL 92.3fm LA.
No one can believe his story...
Educate yourself on his story!
I agree. You cannot function without a car. I think it's a boring city. It lacks culture.
Already turned into another Atlanta lived there over forty years glad I left and I’m not going back!
I've had my eyes on Charlotte for decades, but moved to Dallas instead 12 years ago. Not counting Charlotte out though!!
So how do u like Dallas
@@sheenahammond1442 Dallas has a lottttt of opportunities and plenty of things to do. I'd recommend it, weather is typically mild except the summer.
@@ThComedy_ Charlotte is boring and lacks culture and authenticity.
You just have to decide what part of dfw you'd like to be in. Hope this helped a bit!
No, you made the right decision
Someone mentioned in the comments about how segregated Charlotte, North Carolina is. That's being very Truthful...
Charlotte makes you feel right at home. It’s definitely a special city that will hopefully will have more affordable housing when the market corrects
yes we are from are nyc and we here the place is rising in rent. but, cheaper than here, but, for families its a better places to live thats a pro in my opinion.
I never knew Charlotte had so much to do besides the usual tourist attractions. I am moving two hours away but it’s nice that I can go there for a weekend and enjoy myself
I love the diversity here in Charlotte, it's so beautiful 😍! NoDa here in CLT is the most diverse place I've ever worked and lived
My city....for now. Once the nest is empty, the possibilities are endless!
Lol
💛💛
Just shared this with my sister and friends who are looking to move there🥰 It looks like a lovely place to live.
I want to move to Charlotte, I'm looking forward to it within the next year.
I'm moving to Lake Norman when my son graduates. It is done! Amen!
Native Houstonian who is strongly considering moving to Charlotte.
I hear Houston is supposed to be fabulous! Y r u looking to relocate?
@@s.fraser5221 Houston really is a great city. Cheaper cost of living in comparison to most major cities, no state tax, lots to do, great food, diverse, good jobs, hardly any cold weather, nightlife top tier...I guess I'm just used to it though and a smaller city the size of Charlotte strikes me as a good option.
I’m looking to leave Houston too! I am considering Charlotte or Raleigh
Lawd...I'm single and in my late 40's. Is Charlotte going to make me a cougar??! 😩🤦🏽♀️😂

I've heard from other city goer's couldn't believe how clean it is
I've been juggling on if I want to move back to Houston or have a new start in Charlotte.
@@MarikoRose333
😐 Dating has become difficult everywhere Sis. If I were you, I would consider what options benefit me as a single woman, and when TMH is ready for you to receive your king, He’ll send him to find you, regardless of where you are. You could be living in Charlotte (or wherever you choose to live) having a blast, and your king might come there for business or just to visit and see you on a whim. We live in an electronic world, so it wouldn’t be hard to keep contact while getting to know one another as a possible love connection blossoms. Your destined husband might not live in your area, at least not at first. 🤷🏽♀️
Don’t try to adjust your life, especially where you live, on a ratio of finding a husband because you could move to such a place and still not find one. Live your best life as a single woman in the city of your choosing, and if it’s meant to be, your king will come. 😊 #goodluck
That's why I only go to NoDa, it's so integrated and diverse. I love that 100%
I've lived in Raleigh in my college yrs and live in Charlotte now (for over 20yrs). I miss Raleigh, but I visit when I can. Charlotte is home, for now, until it gets too crowded. Might leave in a few yrs.
Charlotte is segregated by class more than race.
My worst decision, too..@Nancy..that I ever made to move there..🥺
Yea I miss nyc walkability and non dependence on a car
At 0:32 that was Cincinnati skyline, im a over the road trucker I know every major city skylines.
Well Charlotte and Cincinnati share the Queen City nickname, but yes that threw me off.

@@RobertGrant80 i have a good realtor here. We are new too and built here in 21. I live in Steel Creek also. Not sure how we can connect since I don't want my info out here like that.
I chose Atlanta over Charlotte.
How long you been in Atlanta?
I'm deciding between the two, so why did you choose ATL?
Atlanta is nice as far as it being a black mecca but it's not all that's cracked up to be. The city became heavily crime ridden before I moved out the city and has gotten worse after I moved outta the city since then. If people prefer Atlanta then the best option is to live outside of the city.
@@diamondsandlipgloss I chose Atlanta because opportunities are better for a person with my type of mentality. And the lifestyle is better for a person with my mentality.
@@MarikoRose333 far outside of the city I'm talking 100 miles away 😆. I'm out here in the country and love peace and quiet. Atlanta is a warzone nowadays.
Is this a paid advertisement!?!?Charlotte is a beautiful city with many advantages and countless disadvantages: some issues that are difficult to reconcile include the blatant segregation, educational disparities within the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, and disproportional wage gaps.
This is amusing since I'm moving to Charlotte in January.
Good luck and Godspeed

That's one of cities I want to move at Charlotte or Atlanta Georgia
We were thinking of moving to Charlotte or Myrtle Beach. Moved to Florida, lol. Thank you for your video!

As of last month, our average sales price in the Charlotte area is actually close to $445k now ! ❤
Definitely visit and ask A
LOT of questions. Also remember NC is a red state so that alone speaks volumes. Good luck! 🌟
Wow. My experience has been the complete opposite. But I get it...I feel the same way about my hometown. We've loved living here and found there to be plenty of engaging things to do.
