Harbor Freight sells a great 6" magnetic dish that is perfect for holding needles, tools, small scissors and clips. They also have larger ones, but I've found the 6" is perfect. Great instruction.
I had checked through almost all tutorials about rolled hem , i would say you are the most excellent one to teach how to do rolled hem. I keep it as my important guide ever ! Thank you a thousand !
Thank you so much for your tutorial. You speak clearly and slowly as you show the steps and I really appreciate that. I've been sewing since I was 12 and now going on 74. I know every machine has their different personalities and attributes and I treat them with due respect. Lol I have 2 older sergers that are constantly used for regular sewing and I decided to get the Brother 1634d to do rolled hems on lace veils and finer clothing. Your video was a great help compared to the manual's illustrations. I'm subscribing! Thanks ever so much!
I’ve bought custom clothing from you but I had no idea you had videos. I was searching to see if there was one that explained the rolled hem process and yours was the first one I saw. It was perfect and exactly what I needed!
Thank you for this! I've been looking for a Brother Serger rolled hem video everywhere. This is so easy to follow. It's so pretty - excited to use this on everything;)))))
my hem looks beutiful but here and there there are tiny fabrics showing...after washing it look BAD !! hem looks perfect but it seems like my cotton fabric is fraying creating tiny balls of fabric in between roll hem...tips ?
This was so helpful! I just started sewing again, and broke down today and got a Brother Serger, 1034D. I bought some Missoni knit fabric a while ago on sale, and was wondering if you would recommend a rolled hem. I like the look of a rolled hem a lot, but am super inexperienced with all of this. What do you suggest?
You can play with the tensions. But it’s quite difficult, because she rolled hems pulls the fabric. How about you trying a narrow hem instead ? I think that’s probably what you’re looking for.
How wide does the rolled hem gets? Narrowness is the key for me and it looks very narrow on the film, but when I did it (have the same machine), it is 0.5cm (1/16 inch), which is too wide to use as a fine finishing edge for a garment. Is there way to make it narrow?
My serger was doing a rolled hem so perfect on DBP after watching your tutorial but it’s now making little balls when I do this hem. Do you know why this could be? Thank you
I have 2 questions. 1 the hem doesn't look rolled, it's just "wrapped". Rolled hems I've seen on garments are actually rolled over. Why doesn't it role? 2 when I tried to do this on my 1034D, the fabric zips right though even when I try not to push hard on the pedal. You're needle is going a million miles an hour, but your fabric is hardly moving. My settings on the side are the same as yours. How are you slowing your feed dogs down?
Rolled hems vary types of fabric. But it is a rolled hem and I wanted to show the difference on the the types of fabric. Maybe what you’re looking for is a narrow hem. And that won’t pucker or wave at all. It will still flat! Hmm, I think that would a good idea for a video to share. That way you get a clearer picture. 😊👍🏽
This is a very good video, so thank you! Also, if you were making a baby blanket with this rolled hem, would you have to loop the ends together with a large needle, or would the fray glue stop this? ty
This looks like the serger I'm thinking of getting which is the Brother 2104D, Do you know if the one you're using is a newer or older model? There's so many models I'm getting confused about the difference between them. Thanks in advance! x
Im new to serging so maybe im wrong but I assume the end results are suppose to be the same as a regular sewing machine.. With that said my question is.. The hems aren't suppose to be warped/wavy/stretched out of shape are they?
I disagree about rolled hems are supposed to look wavy on knit; that is a specific kind of rolled hem...a lettuce hem. Adjust your differential feed and it won’t be. :)
To be very honest your video for How To Do Rowed Hem with Brother 1034D is the most detail , clear tutorial
Ever . Thank You so very much !
Yay!! Super happy to hear that. Glad to help . 💗
You are the most clear, short & specific teacher. You are awesome. Thank you very much.

how do you keep the heavier fabrics from getting all wavy like they did? :(

Very Clear video . thanks.
Do you keep the knife on or is it turn off when doing the roll hem thank you bs
what foot did you use in this video, and why did you just use one needle instead of two? im still learning my serger

What settings did you put the knife on ?
Can you do a video on hemming stretch fabric, I used a twin needle, stretch stitch and it didn’t have any stretch to it

Absolutely!

What’s the difference between the 1634D and the 1634DX? Thanks
The X has a LED light instead of regular on machine
This was so helpful!
Thank youuuuuuu so much
Thank you so much....even I can probably do this😉

Hello there 👋🏽
Rolled hens are meant to look wavy/ruffled on stretch knit fabrics. If using a woven (non stretch fabric ) it won’t wave as shown. 😊
I disagree about rolled hems are supposed to look wavy on knit; that is a specific kind of rolled hem...a lettuce hem. Adjust your differential feed and it won’t be. :)
Omg Thankyou!
YOU are very welcome Jimmy!
You sound like Mila Kunis!
