Send the cluster to Southern Electronics in Virginia. I paid 195.00 three years ago for my 1999 Camry cluster rebuild throwing a VSS code and going into limp mode. I only had 92k original miles then. 133k now with no issues. For a reasonable fee, they can legally match mileage if you opt for a new/different cluster.
I think a speedometer calibration shop can do the work. Bring in the bad one along with the junk yard one. They should be able to reset the odometer to match the bad one, Keep the paperwork in case you get challenged.
Thank you. I have a faulty instrument cluster. Sending my instrument cluster to be repaired will take about two weeks and cost about US$190. Ugh. If I knew how to repair this common problem, I would make a video showing people how to fix their own instrument clusters.
Love your channel. I recently bought a 2007 Tacoma base model with 2.7L (2TR-FE) RWD, standard trans with 5 lug wheels (192k miles). I have a leaking evaporator, which is unfortunately, located behind the dash inside the cabin. It would be nice if you had any suggestions on how to replace it without having to remove the entire dash and brace assembly; although I am resigned to the fact that it probably will have to be done.
Been driving my taco with 34in tires for 10 years and my odometer is off, I sleep well at night. We are not Germans, we are Americans, we don’t always follow the law!
Does your Taco have a standard transmission? If it is an automatic, does it effect your shift points? just wondering. In the 70's it was little known that putting smaller diameter wheels would trick the Turbo 350 trans to shift quicker. This was an advantage for street 1/4 mile racing.

It works in some states. I erase mine right before inspection. But some states run a scan. You can't beat that, since the record is still there in the computer & will come up with a scan on most new vehicles. In California, if they catch you messing with the pollution control system at all, they probably fine you thousands of dollars.
Found A place “ Online “ all legal Guarantees the repair !! $150 Granted there’s no Bad wheel sensor .. you Didn’t look Hard I Found it Immediately & No The Mileage is Not Manipulated . Not A New Cluster It’s A Repair

Changed my own resistor for my 2013 Tacoma. Easy peasy. OEM so no wiring required. Only 80k on the clock.
good job, wish I could find a video to replace that resistor
I do consumer electronics design and debugging. Can you link to a post that identifies what needs to be replaced on the board? Thanks!
can you enlighten us what resistor to look for? I would like to fix my own.
