Thanks so much for reacting to the incredible and unique Freddie Mercury collaborations with Montserrat Caballé. Have been a Queen and Freddie Mercury fan since the early 70’s and can never get enough! Quick side note; barely worth mentioning but my lawyer side compels me: as far as I know, Queen was not involved in the Barcelona tracks, so not necessary to say ‘Queen’ in your countdown intro. Thanks again for doing these wonderful reactions and would live to hear more of your opinions about each piece.
They are magnificent. You know John Deacon, Queen's bassist plays bass for Freddie on this. Deaky's steady sensitive touch, his music adding more poignancy to challenge the emotions already drawn out by Montserrat and Freddie. Unmatched Beautiful music. Love it. Thank you for your attention to this masterpiece.
@@GinMae Thank you. Loved coming here again today. Also to share that Rufus Taylor, Roger's son is on this also playing drums. Just heart-touching music from several perspectives. Again, thanks!
The album is Barcelona and another great song is the companion piece Guide Me Home. My favorite though is Ensueno, however there isn't a video of the recording. They recorded it separatly and put it together later. It's exquisite and you can hear Freddie's baritone voice. 💛⚘️
ohhhhhh, I'm really CONFUSED now: I read quite recently that Ensueno was actually the only Barcelona track where Freddie/Montse DID sing into the mic together. The commenter said that - because Fred's voice is so overpowering - he had to stand back further from the mic than Montsie to balance their voices.
@@marciebulsaraorcutt Hi! I could certainly be wrong! 😊 The story I heard is that their schedules didn't allow for them to record it together so Freddie recorded Free Love, in which he sang Montsy's part so she would know how to sing it, sent it off to her. She did her thing, sent it back, he then recorded his voice on the tape. That also explains why there is no photo or video of them ever doing it together. I would also guess that he may not have wanted to share a mic because he had AIDS and was concerned about touching her at all. She said she took his hand at one point and he let go quickly because of the contact. That of course was before they understood that it didn't pass through hand contact. But, as I said, I could be wrong.
SOUL BROTHER 🙏🏻🙏🏻 “Freddie told me he had a surprise for me - he said ‘I’ve written a song about you - but it needs your touch on it.’ Anyway, we got in the studio & he played the song. Now whether it was about me I don’t know. But I thought it was fab. I know Freddie wrote it in about 15 minutes!!” PULEAZE 🙏🏻
HEY HONEY💕 OMG YESSSS, "Soul Brother" is MIND BLOWING! (BTW Debra, This is still Marcella "Milton Keynes is the BEST" Orcutt... I occasionally get bored/change my name; Marcie is short for Marcella and is what people actually call me in Real Life.)
They just made 9 tracks together ... :-( ... try "The Fallen Priest" next, please. And when you buy the vinyl or CD: There are two versions avaible. The original one which had some keyboard-sounds, synth, etc. as an orchestra, but 25 years later a re-recording with an real orchstra was released! The first release is amazing, but the later release is legendary! Your choice! ^^+gg
Listen to a song or two more from the album here before purchase. The original Barcelona album (1988) OR the newer version with added live orchestra (2012). That way you can hear which you prefer.
So sad. She knows he’s sickly, one of the very few. He is saying who is going to help me hide away and protect me from the world. That’s what happens when you are famous and the press hounds you.

Wow.. thanks Marva.. didn't know Deaky was in on this... but I guess I shouldn't be surprised, he and Freddie had a really close bond...

Save me is a good one.
Next friday react to Delilah. This is the song Freddie wrote about his favorite cat.
