- It's Episode 402 and we're throwing a sardine on it to feel something. This week Em is bringing it back to episode 400, but instead of tales of a pasta psychic - they tell us all about the one and only Asparamancer, Jemima Packington! Then Christine covers Part 1 of the shocking case of Victoria Cilliers. And don't forget to take a nap, drink some water, eat a banana and maybe have a little gin... and that's why we drink!
Come see our brand new live show: The Pour Decisions Tour which is sure to bring plenty of gasps, laughs, and frights! Get your tickets at: andthatswhywedr...!
Christine, I’d like to just tell you that a lot of what you’ve mentioned about Leona and updates with parenthood make me feel so much better. Not because I’m better than you or anything! But because I feel like we are on the same speed. My son’s about Leona’s age and I also didn’t know he needed to go to the dentist, found that out around the time you did and said something. She just turned 3 and y’all are struggling with potty training just like us. It just feels… nice, especially when social media/daycare always makes you feel behind or inadequate. So, thanks for being real, it helps those of us listening feel less alone.
1000% percent agree! My daughter is maybe a week older than Leona, and we are experiencing the SAME exact things!
I have a son 2 months younger and he has absolutely NO interest in potty training either 😅
As a fellow bisexual, I LIVE for Em's bi jokes to Christine
Hi so on the pee smell thing. Im a nurse and me and a few of my coworkers noticed that coffee does that too!
Psoriasista checking in! I was actually diagnosed recently too, but I'm pretty sure I've had it since childhood. I may also be following up with a rheumy soon. Good luck!
Already felt pi**ed off at work today, pulled up the new ATWWD and literally said out loud "this will make it better" Lol love yall 😘
Christine getting a diagnosis for her skin gives me hope. I’ve been dealing with what sounds really similar. It gets worse with stress and OF COURSE I’m under the most stress I’ve ever been under or at least close to it. And of course I’ve got no insurance. So glad my therapist is affordable with out insurance
Perfectly timed drop for my flight to Phoenix 🧡🖤 thank y’all for being the best podcast out there
2:13 For the record, the first 20 mins of chat is actually my *favorite* part of the episode every week 🥲 so please take your time 🩶
Em’s “squeeze the day” shirt 😂🍋
“Pickled herring, just wash away any of my fears.” Is something I want on a t-shirt with a completely unrelated visual aspect
you need to throw a sardine on everything just to feel something! That just took me out.
I’m right here with you potty training the twins! I bargain with skittles. “One skittle - you pick the color” twins: “one green skittle and one surprise skittle.” Ha! They always end up getting 2+ 😅
Same! We basically succumbed to gaslighting and we just told her congrats your did it, you’re all potty trained …. And she did it!
That's so cute 😂
20:40 Em's story!
54:28 Christine's!
Haha I didn’t sleep last night and the first minute convinced me I was having a fever dream of some variety
At the beginning of Christene's story, I was pretty convinced I wanted to sky dive.... This quickly changed.
Hey Christine! You’re definitely not alone in the auto immune disease issues. As an 9 year old I was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis that had followed me into my adult years and unfortunately does still cause me issues. I was actually on remicade myself since I was 10, but it lost its effectiveness after I had to stop for a small amount of time. Due to my hair beginning to fall out and I found out I had alopecia. And the “one autoimmune disease, bound to get another” thing has always been something I’ve told people. It’s like a BOGO deal with chronic illnesses. Anyways, it always makes me feel a lot more connected to you as a host, and I feel like invisible as a young person with health issues most people don’t have till they are older. Good luck with the psoriasis :( I know these things are hard to live with especially when they’re more inconvenient (whilst being painful and draining) and you’re still mostly expected to be a regular member of society. Thank you for always sharing your health and illnesses with us!
I heard that too! I was diagnosed with Crohn's at 16 and around 22 I started developing other issues and my GI was like well that's common lol. Now I have been diagnosed with lupus as well. I love hearing from Christine and feeling not alone and seeing comments like these too. :)
my AuDHD brain has what i like to call "Hyperfixation Roulette". I get a few random fixations along w a main special interest, the fixations change more often but they all kinda just rotate. Perf mix of consistent and novel activities.
(rn it's digital art which is the biggest interest, a 2 week modded minecraft binge, and cooking specifically chicken dishes?? yeah idk)
ADHD makers spaces would be absolutely amazing, just like a communal craft drawer of hyper fixation supply sharing. aa i wanttt
Yesss Em I get you, babe!! I just knew you were saying pasta but meant asparagus!! Lol
I heard this story a couple years ago on redhanded. I had to listen to it again because I forgot how it ended and couldn’t wait until next week. Sorry!! But great story to cover!!
Psoriasista here! Along with hashimoto's, RA, psoriatic and spinal arthritis, fibromyalgia, and half a dozen lesser autoimmune issues. Fun stuff. Humira and otezla ftw.
My professor in undergrad told me about a guy who used to take drags off a cigarette until it is just a column of ash, and then read the ash.
And. That’s. Why. You. Drink! Or puff…whatevs!
I love Em talking about the Duggars and skydiving, not finishing their sentence and Christine shrieking "GO INTO WHAT"
I've paused this to say....the cereal "Golden puffs" and "Honey smacks" MAKES MY PEE SMELL LIKE THE CEREAL ITSELF😭
Ok I came looking for someone else to comment this. This cereal my mom and I refer to it as the smelly cereal it’s so good but it ALWAYS changes the pee smell I have no idea why
My son had to pick a book to read in English last year, and Christine it reminds me of what you were talking about. The main character had a process he had to do before bed every night. It is call OCDaniel by Wesley King. I highly recommend it for any teen going through this. It is also a good book for parents trying to get a perspective on what their child is going through.
14 hr day completed, perfect timing 🤍👻
was inappropriately waiting for the "Pun not intended" after the "Oh Shit" when christine had the callout about the bowel cancer
.... South African Listener here - WE DO NOT CLAIM EMILE 😒
Shots of Fireball and Jägermeister are definitely top of the list for being the worst shots (after the butt shot) on your bday (or any day really) 😊 And may goodness help you if you’ve had all 3 in one night! 😅
Christine ur eyebrows are slayingg
You probably have Psoriatic Arthritis.
My diagnosis along with IBS and fibromyalgia
I have that gene too Em!! Hate cilantro and can smell the asparagus pee 😂
As an *Nsyncer I love and live for your *Nsync references. BTW happy Scorpio season from your resident Scorpio fan.
The prediction for a sudden death in the entertainment industry… could she have been talking about Liam Payne?
I was screaming thinking the exact same thing!
literally exactly what i thought of too
The fact this came out days after it happened when this was probably pre recorded awhile ago is extra eerie
My compulsions include having compulsions 😭
Omg I've never been so early!!
Look up creative reuse centers. They are like thrift stores for craft supplies
Speaking of genetics…. I am primarily of German descent and carry the BRCA1 mutation. Im not aware of any Jewish heritage in my family tree but the mutation is most common among the Ashkenazi population. The mutation increases your risk of several cancers, mostly breast & reproductive cancers, by an alarming percentage. People who have heard of the mutation associate it with Angelina Jolie Anywho…fears unlocked, you’re welcome. No, I just thought it could be an interesting deep dive.
I work in genetics (mostly peds) and a lot are carried through people of Ashkenazi heritage because of similar genetic lines and regions of homozygosity over time. Its called the founder effect and its super interesting ❤ hope youre taking care of yourself!
@@kimbjackson that is super interesting! I have been researching my family tree but it has proven to be quite difficult. Many of my ancestors on the same line with the mutation died at a young age. I have to do the research because it is a rather new discovery and it has taken family members before I ever meet them; my grandmother had no idea she had a 50% chance of passing the mutation on to seven children. I am taking care of myself and have had all the surgeries and removed all the removable parts!
Not me preparing dinner listening to this episode talking about asparagus and guess what I’m having with dinner tonight 😂yup ASPARAGUS 😂😂. I love it prepared with garlic and lemon. ❤. Definitely hate the pee smell after but love asparagus. 😂
Wait!! EM YOU AREN'T WRONG ABOUT THE PASTAMANCER EITHER!!!
Somehow, while thinking about this, it was atill a random distant thought, but Pastamancer is a class in the game Kingdom of Loathing. (Maybe it was the stick figure comment in this episode that (omg pun intended) 'drew it out'). Which is a heavy text-based game with some stick figures for characters. It's amazing.
Also, there's other solid classes like Saucerer and Disco Bandit.
Christine’s story 54:30
put parmesan on your asparagus, c’mon guys
I went sky diving! Btw you CAN just breath, it sounds like maybe you had a panic attack .. but typically you should be able to breath! I will say the fall was amazing until the guy did the spins.. it was horrific lol then the landing was FAR too hard. The guy said he was sorry he didnt mean for us to land that hard, i hit before him (he was suppose to hit and i was suppose to land on top) but over all after a month or so I was back to walking and sitting normally 😂😅
Week 9 of asking what everyone is drinking today! For me today I have White Cherry Gatorade ♡♡
The asparagus was wrong about the president 😭
Ocd awareness week was October 13-19!
I've heard that beetroot can make your pee change colour!
Yikes now I know the person I ghosted recently was love bombing but it didn't work on me bc I quickly gathered a ton of red flags and yeah lol. That's kind of scary actually
Em - for me, it’s coffee. I’ll drink a coffee and within 30 minutes need to pee and it smells hella strong.
Blue zone for life!!
Golden crisp cereal makes my pee smell like it.
After literally just two years of medical school in my own country I'm appalled as to how bad the healthcare system is in the US. And we're a 3rd world country. I'm so glad you guys are getting your diagnosis and the help you need, even if it takes a while. Let's make this generation of doctors a better one 🩵
