I agree with you. I.was very lucky as I had great Irish teachers at school.I spent my teens in a gaetacht (Irish speaking region) also my aunt spoke to in Irish.
The Irish language is worth learning if you can. I got enough to read some short stories and translate some song lyrics. I found it to be pure poetry...no wonder why they are such great artists!
It is. I only have what i got in my school days but when you think in irish it is a very good language. The english language can become the boundary of your concepts so easily and the concepts in irish are very different. Little things like you dont say i am sad you say sad is on me. And even on me in me at me are one word so me isnt seperated from the action. Little things like that just tickle me for some reason. Im sure many languages are the same but since i learne dirish young i can somehow think in it ..even though i can say very little and dont know many words. The pattern of it somehow got into my brain somehwere deep.
I'm Hispanic, I don't understand what's she is singing about, besides by reading the comments posted, but it doesn't make a difference, this is BEAUTIFUL MUSIC. I can't stop listening to this song. That,s what I love about music, there are no language barriers, anyone can enjoy special music such as this one....
i love they way the words sound, kind of like they float on the wind, soft, light and fitting perfectly together. gaelic is a beautiful language and celtic woman does a wonderful job with this song.
Someone asked wether Máiréad's fiddle is baroque or not, but the comment is too old to answer, so I'll do it here - yes, it is. It's a Matthias Alban fiddle. As for Méav's performance - aMéaving as always!
I just got the new Destiny DVD and CD combo. Maev is the only singer on it that was one of the original girls. Of course the little violinist is there too. Meav does this song on the DVD.
I love everything about tthis group . Love all of their songs. These women are angels. Whenever I feel depressed or upsessed I come here and listen to Celtic Women. They always bring me back. Thank you to whover posted these videos. !!!
@ImaginaryNightshade Singing along to music - no matter if you comprehend the language, or sound anywhere near as good as the original singers - is a human right. Don't ever stop.
The greatest Artists, Poets, and Warriors the world has ever known! May Heaven watch over those of the Blessed Western Isle! Celtic Woman is nothing short of therapy! You just feel GOOD afterwords.
i love when the blond with no shoes runs out of no where and fiddles to her hearts content!!!!! love it!!! i wish i could have seen them in concert!!! they make me smile!!!
I love Méav. Méav, Órla and Máiréad are my favorite members of the group. They are both angels from heaven. I could listen to Meav and Orla sing all day everyday. I love how both Meav and Orla are so into what they are singing and how they both bring so much energy to the stage. I love watching Meav and Orla perform because to me they always make me happy. Meav and Orla both have voices of angels. I think that Meav, Orla, and Máiréad are the prettiest and most talented of the group.

No TripBoomLikeThat, this version is from the original September 2004 performance done live at the Helix Center in Dublin, Ireland. It is available on the Celtic Woman DVD.
I'm Welsh and listening to this language makes me really proud of my heritage. It's a shame that more people don't speak Gaelic today.
I agree with you. I.was very lucky as I had great Irish teachers at school.I spent my teens in a gaetacht (Irish speaking region) also my aunt spoke to in Irish.
Without a doubt, Meav was one of the best vocalists ever to sing as Celtic Woman.
Silver Sea album was excellent.
Yess!
She doesn't have to sing very loud but she knows how to make her voice echo and speak volumes.
Oh yes !
FLAWLESS!!!

Please elaborate. What's poetic about it?
AND SUDDENLY! an angel comes bouncing out playing the violin!
I miss Meav's presence in Celtic Woman; it isn't the same without her.
She's now a creative consultant with Celtic Woman so in a way she's back

She also plays in baroque style, you can also tell by her bowhold, that's the "baroque" bow hold.
The opening is so unusual. Just Meav, the drums, and then the chorus. Very interesting. I love the way she tells the story with her beautiful voice.
