Another Vietnam era song about what a GI feels in the dark dangerous snake infested and Booby trap laden Jungles of Vietnam. Many of us served, and some didn't get to come back home. God Bless those young men. We're in our 70s and early 80s these days. Thanks Shawn
I was just a kid in grade school back then, but of course the war influenced every aspect of life. A friend of mine across the street lost two of his older brothers, and then they just moved really suddenly, and the house sat dark for nearly a year. The oldest boy of the family next door went to Canada and would just randomly show up now and then. We all liked him; he was such a friendly and laid-back guy. Going in the other direction down the block, the house after my next door neighbors house was a very large family. The oldest kid was basically a father figure to all the kids in the neighborhood. He would join in games with us sometimes, would often referee, break up fights, lovingly scold the girls around the corner behind the bushes smoking cigarettes, both of which were my older babysitters, lol. He got drafted and went and became a helicopter gunner, and when he came back, he was so damaged. We could not locate the person we used to know. He was totally withdrawn and nearly nonverbal, prone to sudden outbursts, but he would mutter a lot. At some point, we realized he was often muttering something about killing commies. It was so sad. Thank you for your service. It means a lot.
This is another of the songs Vietnam vets relate to, and their minds drift back in time. I had already returned when this came out in 1970; I returned in late 1960s. We're all old gray beards and round bellies now. Music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, race, religion or politics - everyone loves music. Shawn's Channel is healing in itself; his views are an expression of human emotion. and how music is for the soul. We are all touched by it.
This song took me back to those days. I think you have to experience living in the times of the Boomers to appreciate some of the songs from back then. We have memories that come with all the classic songs & that makes a big difference of liking them or not!👍💜
Another great song from an amazing group. I just love CCR they are totally awesome with a ton of great songs that became huge hits. The songs are great to grow up with. Thank you for keeping great music alive young man. God bless and keep on rocking. Everyone is entitled to their opinions so from there the song is about gun control and the Vietnam War. People have their own opinions about the situation and others could care less it is all matter of opinion and views. Just keep the great songs coming and ROCK IT!!!!!!!
This was on my Walkman's running tape, as well as BORN ON THE BAYOU, THE OLD MAN DOWN THE ROAD (both by CCR), HOLD YOUR HEAD UP by Argent, WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS by Led Zeppelin, LOCOMOTION and AMERICAN BAND by Grand Funk Railroad, etc.
Everything in this well-composed song is great, but I really love the bass guitar line and the way it works with the primal drums and the offbeats of the rhythm guitar. It's so stealthy but kinetic. Something to be aware of is that, regardless of the writer's intent at the time, whatever it truly was, in a way it doesn't matter culturally. This was equally absorbed by those against the war and enlisted men that were serving. It captures the heartbeat of a conflicted nation at the time, and it was so heavily adopted as part of the culture that it took on a life of its own almost.
When it comes to politics you can give your opinions on a topic, but you should give it a rest before any heated arguments or fights occur I know some people just want to argue
This is NOT a song about the Viet Nam war, it's a statement about the proliferation of guns in the U.S...The U.S. is the jungle according to J.C. Fogarty himself....
You really should respect the fact that he doesn't want in depth political discussions on his channel and would rather keep his political opinions out of it. He's got a great music reaction channel going, there are plenty of political channels out there you can go to for those discussions, you could even start your.own. And everything isn't black and white, there are plenty of gray areas in all areas of opinions. If there weren't there would be nothing political to discuss.
100% correct. Shawn's channel is about the joy, feeling, and the healing magic that music brings to everyone's soul. Not political agendas. You don't go to a Steakhouse for a Vegan dinner.
Shawn, my man, getting a bit worried about you. There's right and there's wrong, there's truth and lies, there's black and there's white. You cant "both sides" everything. Sooner or later you gotta make a decision and do and say the right thing. Fact - the U.S. has a massive gun problem, almost unique in the world, which it has to resolve.
You are wrong, friend. An armed man is a citizen, an unarmed man is a subject. Look around. Do your own resesrch. Facts not feelings. The news the msm gives are skewed for weak sheep like you.

Classic CCR, this song is in just about every Vietnam War film.👍
Congratulations on reaching 16,000 subscribers!
it never gets old saying “ another grand slam from Shawn “ great song from a great group and a great reaction channel, thanks Shawn.
Thanks for playing and reacting to one of my favorites ❤..AWESOME ❤

I think this is my favorite Fogerty vocal. That deep tone is monstrous. It sounds like the mountain would aound if it was singing theae lyrics.
Fantastic group … love CCR
Love this! My favorite is "Suzy Q."
First...congrats on your 16K Shawn...keep building it. Second...CCR has always, I feel, been just great. Fantastic music, superb albums. Love it...🎤🎶👍
Plus early album song
'LONG AS I CAN SEE THE LIGHT'
He plays the Saxophone! His voice is Great!!
Luv them!
Make sure you react to 'Keep on Chooglin' Live from Woodstook 1969. You'll love it!

I absolutely LOVE the Grand Funk Railroad take on The Locomotion. It's absolutely brilliant, and it's so fun.
Great song and reaction
Aboit Vietnam specifically, but generally about any dark dank place......where danger lurks at every tree bush....
According to John, it is not about Vietnam.
My favorite CCR song is “I Put A Spell On You”. It’s a fantastic cover 💙👵🏼✌🏼
One of my all time favs from CCR. Thanks for sharing !! CCR had many two sided hits. Much like the Beatles had released.
Whenever I think of CCR this is the song I think of.
CCR and Hendrix was the two great anti war songwriters in the Vietnamese war area
Except this song is not an anti war song.
I used to like playing this while driving at night in my Jeep with the top down.

Love it😊
SOMEDAY NEVER COMES is another song by CCR
Very powerful song, one of my favorites and I wish people would react to it. I haven't come across any yet.
Even in 1970, it was difficult to even walk through a jungle -traps, mines, pits, snipers - be careful, in the Jungle!
You should try John Fogarty's songs called ( Hot Rod Heart / Rambunctious Boy )
❤❤❤❤
Harmonica kills it.
Thanks so much for this!
This song is absolute grind down and dirty.
Ramble Tamble is another great CCR song.
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Midnight Special is a great one by them for 3 different tempos
fantastic! hey tonight is good
CCR LARGE! 🥰Peace!!🙏
The harmonica sounds like a man crying.

Didn't he just say that he didn't want to get into it on this channel? Are you deaf or something?
John Fogerty’s solo stuff is really great also!
