I have the original 50ml edt and 2022 bottle. The old one‘s top note turn a little. It smell more natural, dark and smooth, more animalic and musky. The new one is cleaner, more airy, screechy (which makes it more artifical as well). The old one leans more tuberose and the new one is more jasmine. I prefer the old one😊 because of its depth and texture. Much higher quality!

I absolutely love this perfume. I own a near full vintage bottle, and occasionally spray it in the air as aroma therapy. It smells like burning incense while drinking wine with warm baked cookies. I would never ever wear it though, not for me. But I LOVE the fragrance itself. It invokes childhood nostalgia too. 😊

My vintage poison arrived today and it really is so much more potent. Its nothing crazily different, they still share the same DNA, its just that the 80s one is incredibly potent, unadulterated, rich and very direct. The modern Poison has a more chemically smell to it which hides the true essence of the Poison DNA from shining.
Both are absolutely amazing, but vintage is better because of how intense it is. That being said, if you never get the chance to smell vintage Poison, dont worry, its not much of a loss, the modern Poison is really great in my opinion.

Poison was a wonderful perfume when it first came out.It entered the room before you did ! Its so wrong to mess about with the formula and change it.If a perfume is a huge success then leave it alone.

I love it. Always have. ♥ mine is from 2006 do it had gone through a reformulation but dior did reformulate it again in 2012 which is the formula you have. I'm happy with mine. It projects like a BEAST, but it is sweet. I think they sweetened it more with the myhhrr. Your mother was in the poison clan. You were either poidon or coco chanel. My mother wore poison. Its highly revered and highly loathed by many. That vintage bottle looks so of the time😀💕

I love reading your comments. They always add so much to the conversation. I really like Coco Chanel as well and still wear it!

I wore the original Poison for years. It was my signature sent. I absolutely loved it and so did everyone else. For some reason, I got onto a different perfume, and then I just didn’t really wear perfume at all for a while. Now, I went back to buy Poison and I smelled the tester and it’s rancid smelling. The new formulation smells like some cheap drugstore knock off. There’s no comparison. That’s sweet note is missing. Whatever they put in it gags me. It’s accurate. I don’t know how to explain it. It’s just not the same. I almost bought a bottle for over $100 and when the lady let me smell it, it just was not the same. Even she said the same thing. That’s why she suggested I smell it first because they reformulated it. I didn’t know that. Thank God she told me because I did not buy it. It just smells awful. I’m sorry, but Kristen Dior really screwed the pooch on that one .

my dad gifted me the travel one "poison" in 1989. I was in high school and i hid it from my sister. I was always complimented every time i wore it. I used it till 2001. now after so many years i wish i got that bottle of fragrance of " poison" back.

Dior is notorious for reformulating everything after a few years. I have a bottle of Poison just before they changed to the Apple bottles. I haven't smelled the recent formulation but heard it was still decent. It's an odd fragrance now in that I enjoy it very much but it's definitely from another time so if I ever wear it, it's for myself at home.

Do you have any where the reformulation is better? Never seems to shake out that way from what I've seen/heard.

@@secondisthebestfragrances no, it unfortunately doesn’t! The biggest culprit in recent years has been the IFRA regulations that caused some of the classics to be reformulated but I also suspect it is in part to do with using lower concentrations of oils for cost savings.

Original Poison is such a beast. I had my computer in the vicinity while spraying for the video, and I could smell it on my computer ten hours later!

I heard that "Cobra" by Jeanne Arthes is the closest dupe to Poison (make sure to look for the female version with a black circular bottle, not the mens square bottle)
Also, Modaleo "Wild Cobra" is similar. But both of these perfumes are incredibly hard to buy online, Wild Cobra i think is only available in England.
Never tried either of them so I cant say for sure.

There is a lot of vintage poison on eBay. I have heard that “dark kiss” from bath and body works was developed as a dupe for poison before it was reformulated, but I haven’t had a chance to smell it.

How is it now after it's macerated for a while?
I just got a new bottle and was disappointed with the reformulation. I also have 2 vintage bottles that I absolutely love. I'm hoping the new one will get better as it ages.

I prefer the new formula to the original. My bottle is about 5-6 years old and smells amazing and sweet. The vintage I tried seems “dry”, not as sweet, and kind of weird…like more disjointed. Not sure if it’s just a case of the notes being lost with time but I didn’t love it.
