Thanks for the Poison history, Sam! A true walk down memory lane. I wore POISON! (Yes it shouts) in the late ‘80’s and switched between that, Opium, and Cinnabar. I recently purchased Hypnotic Poison but ended up giving it to a friend. Exploring new fragrances has helped me get through these last couple of years and I have learned I am not one for fruity-vanilla scents. Gimme some amber, sandalwood, vetiver bases and go light on the patchouli, please. But we must have some florals up top. I don’t wanna smell like dessert.I want to eat dessert. 🍮😄

The OG Poison is my favorite fragrance now. I just got a vintage EDT and wow, I can't imagine thinking of anything else as a signature scent. I've begun collecting both vintage and modern bottles.

Such a great video! The original Poison was the first perfume I ever got in 1987! So many memories! It’s my first ever ‘scent’ & still love it to this day even though it’s not the same 💜it’s the only Poison I still prefer it today

Thank you for another great video Sam! 🌹I remember getting a mini bottle of Tender Poison as a gift from an aunt (to play with it) as a child, and I was totally captivated by the aroma. Years later I saw and smelled Hypnotic Poison, I was 17yo, and I found this, again, to be such a different perfume, fell in love, but I couldn't afford it at that age. Your video made me walk down memory line and I think I'll go get a bottle of Hypnotic for my inner 17yo ❤

The hypnotic poison EDP was not mentioned -unless I missed it. I do not like it but I think it's worthy of mention because it's so different than the EDT

Poison and Alien by Mugler are my only two scents I'll ever truly wear. I get so many compliments on them. I can't pull off anything else the way I can pull off those two.

I am a Chanel Gabrielle girl, Coco noir, Chanel 5 l'eau, Guerlain Nahema (also my moms favorite), so yes classics. I wanted something for the evenings, something stronger and kept searching.....and found this....Love it!

I went through 3 poisons.
Hypnotic poison at 17 to early 20’s, then I indulged in a bottle of midnight poison ( I miss that bottle) now I wear poison in my 30’s. Stunning.

Thanks for the review! I love the smell of the OG Poison from the bottle (sniffing the sprayer), but something doesn't agree with my skin and gives me a headache. Midnight Poison is a gorgeous, menthol infused gothic rose garden, but I don't love it enough to buy it for what folks are asking. I have two bottles of the white cap Pure Poison, and it's so fresh and creamy- the white cap version smells more citrusy and delicate/ less musky- but I only need one spray and it lasts forever! I had some OG bottles of Hypnotic Poison, but sold them in favor of the newer formulation- while it doesn't last as long, the OG version of Hypnotic Poison had an unpleasant stale sweat in the drydown on me. I haven't smelled Tendre Poison in years, but recall that it had a similar feel to Poison, but before the fruit is produced- like the bitter green shoots of the Poison tree.
Have loved Hypnotic Poison since 1998, and have not found another vanilla fragrance I have liked more. Will always be my signature. Enjoyed your video. 🙂
The original poison was my mum's signature scent when I was growing up in the 80s. I love that scent! And I'm personally addicted to pure poison, I bring that out every summer. I'm yet to try or smell hypnotic actually, I know live under a rock much lol. But I really want to try it because so many people bang on about it. And I just love their bottles, just gorgeous!

I really loved the smell of the original poison on my sister. Love the boldness of it. Wanted it to smell great on me, but got very sweet on my skin, and I mean really sweet. I have not tried it again since its release. I may have to give it another try as I am older and body chemistry may have changed.
I tend to spray Poison on my clothing more so than on skin to be honest - I find it doesn't necessarily become better on my skin. Perhaps give it a try 🌹Xo Sam
This took me on a trip down memory lane. Wore the OG as a teenager for years (always loved heavy hitters from the time I was a kid) and then Hypnotic for years after that. I don’t have any of the Poison’s in my collection now. May have to revisit 😁

Fun video and love your style as always! HP is my favorite but also the only one I’ve tried. I don’t love enough to own. It smells like sunscreen to me (which I like) but doesn’t smell “perfume-y”. I’ve always wanted to try the OG and now I’m REALLY curious. It was so mainstream once upon a time which is so funny to me.
It was mainstream but it would also clear out a room in a hurry! A gal I worked with wore it and the supervisor banned it. It was extremely polarizing, like nothing I had ever seen before or seen since. People would yell, "Oh God, she's wearing Poison"! You really must try it, whether you like it or not, it is one of a kind!!!

I am definitely an original Poison girl. It’s so opulent and regal and dark. I love the tuberose and plum accords it has, as well as the Amber and incense in the dry down. My aunt used to wear it in my childhood and she’s a very sophisticated and chic woman, very beautiful. It reminds me of her when I wear it! I have a vintage bottle of Poison, the one that’s a dabber, and a current formulation in the spray. I must say the vintage version is incomparable to the one that’s being sold now. It’s still a very luxurious scent but it’s merely a ghost of what it used to be. I think I want to try Pure Poison next, I love white florals and it seems like it’s right up my alley. Thanks for the video! I have a few of them, but my favorite is the original Poison in the esprit de parfum concentration. I have a bottle from 1986 and it's amazing!!! No screechiness at all. I am careful when and where I wear it, but autumn imo is a great time to don OG Poison. I agree with your personality assessment. Although I'm an introvert, when I wear this fragrance I feel confident and know that I'm making a bold statement which not everyone will enjoy, and that's fine with me lol.

Thank you for this review. Scorpio truly in love with the original as far back in high school. I saved my money just to get a small bottle. I also love Midnight Poison, I have a half finished bottle. I really do not like rose 🌹 in perfumes but adore it in Midnight Poison. Still want to try the others but NOT Poison Girl he he.
Poison. It’s just so iconic. I just remember it coming out, seemed so different from everything else. I can still see and smell it sitting on my mum’s dressing table in the 80s. Always liked it even though it was ‘heavy’ for me when I was young. I’ve just ordered the current EDT, I hope it’s not disappointing compared to the old formulation. I have Poison girl EDP and my daughter sometimes shares that. I like HP, but I like anything a bit different and classic, so for me it’s the oG Poison. The bottles and name are just 👌🏻. Have to say, I’ve never tried MP, TP or PP.

When I was a teenager, I stole a bottle of Hypnotic Poison EDT from my older sister. It was love at first sniff :) I still enjoy it, always re-purchase it, but I prefer the EDP version now. Back when Poison was released, every woman wore it, like drenched themselves in it. omg it was so brutal back in the day! 😂 It repelled me since it was so overwhelming. I should smell it again see if Ive recovered by now. I love wearing Hypnotic and have wanted Pure poison since it was released. Thanks for this delightful video. 😍

Hey Sam, I'd like to get your take on YSL Opium (gourmand). It's a coincidence someone at work/wore it and noticed since this vid. It's EDP (YSL seems to last longer) vs EDT Dior one (floral). What's your preference?
I have poison girl (gifted to me by my husband) pure poison and hypnotic poison. Hypnotic poison is my favorite but you have so many on your list that I would love to try- especially the midnight poison.

Tendre Poison was stunning I adored it …should never have been Discontinued…..The original Poison was my signature for years I had all the body products also ….it was a beast! …
I remember asking about Poison shortly before it's release at the Dior counter of an upscale dept store. The reps scoffed and rolled their eyes. " Dior would NEVER release a fragrance with such a vulgar name!!!"

I can't believe we love all the same perfumes, thanks for this amazing review ♥♥♥ I'm definitely the OG poison type but I admit I can't wear it often, I have to be conscious of other people's reaction. And don't be sad for missing out on Tendre Poison, I love green fragrances but that one was not worth the name, and completely forgettable in my opinion.

Yes, the poisons! HP is my poison of choice. I feel myself distancing from it because I have other beauts I tend to wear more often, but HP is something I first smelled maybe 15 years ago…so it’s become something nostalgic for me.
Ah yes, I understand. When a fragrance becomes nostalgic, I tend to only wear it every once in a while so that the nostalgia doesn't wear off 🌹Xo Sam

Yup, Dior Poison the OG, The Queen of Tuberose, YSL Opium, Chanel No. 19, Guerlain Nahema and Estee Lauder Private Collection, these translate me..I am treasuring big bottles of them..I love them, I wear them (occassionally) and I get complimented.
On me Hypnotic Poison smells like vanilla, play dough mixed with a powdery effect. I’ve had mine for about a year thinking it’ll grow on me, maybe I got a older batch because I wanted to love it!

Cabotine is older than Tendre Poison edp - I own Cabotine edp and edt and a sad rest of Tendre Poison edp. They are quite similar but the Poison is somewhat denser….
Loved Hypnotic Poison (edt more than edp) - but as it can induce a migraine I cannot stand it anymore at the moment and got rid of both.
Pure Poison - edp and elixir- Love these too- and I totally agree - winter is the time.
Midnight Poison is also great to me and of course the ysl is here too to reduce my use of midnight Poison.
My love for Original Poison is new - awakened by Jeanne Arthes Cobra - but it sits here as well now

I own Poison Girl, Pure Poison and my most treasured and favorite Midnight Poison. I was lucky my mom gave me her barely used bottle as well as an unopened box of Midnight Poison. I am so heartbroken that Dior decided to discontinue it; it smelled absolutely wonderful and unlike anything else that Dior has to offer. I'm also disappointed that Dior decided to put the original Poison on the back burner, they don't advertise it or have testers in stores. Hell, you can't even buy it in stores you have to order it online!
I love original Poison. I've gone through more bottles of it than any other perfume I've worn. I also love Pure Poison, but definitely number 2.
Would you say that the newly made batches of it still stand up to vintages/older releases? I've ordered me these two just now, read some fragrantica elitists reviews haha, and now I'm extremely anxious that I'm getting sharp, poor, bland and whatever, versions of the older Poisons. Damn those reviews honestly haha

My favorites were Hypnotic, pure, and the most favorite Tendre. What a pity to loose last one. But even Pure and Hypnotic modern are far not as original were.

I love the original poison and I love the pure perfum from the first production much more then fe edt and the spirit, the extrail the one that is like a lipstick is one of my loves and I have complements from man they say you smell like poison but soft they all are more than 50 years old. I used it in high school at 16 year old so I have good memories.
The Midnight Poison - my no 1. 🏆❤️ Hypnotic Poison is no 2.

Oh no Sam 🙊 I'm literally one of those people, I absolutely cannot stand it. But I have my reasons, my mum used to literally spray half a bottle every day of this, it was too much, just horrific. Everytime I smell it, memories of choking 🤣.
The flankers, as a frag head I feel shame with this I haven't been curious because of that... I know I should really give them a try and I am sure I must have smelt them about.

Hate HP, love the OG Poison and Pure Poison. But neither of them are high up on my wish list cuz PP is a bit too familiar and I feel like not exiting enough, and Original Poison is just SO huge it is too pricy for me to not be realy able to wear it much.
