Anyone doubting Radiohead's future need only look at this. Some of these songs should not be played acoustically, yet he's done it and pulled it off. He clearly remains connected to his roots, I don't think that will ever go.
I had to get up and reflect on this at 25:08. The accomplishment is such that it could not have been conceived of in advance. It must have been that they lived it as it happened. I just corrected myself with my mistake. I was going to say "they lived 𝘪𝘯 it". They didn't live in it, they 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥 it, and recorded it. We're listening to the echoes of the genius moment as it happened and we're now wading in the breadth of its warm ripples as they surround.
That's true... but what is it that we want? Is it good music or is it Radiohead? Honestly I kinda love the new smile album and I kinda love their drummer.... You can't do those songs without a drummer like that...
"Some of these songs should not be played acoustically," you are joking right? who says that? a huge part of radiohead songs started as acoustic drafts
Hopefully he does more of these, would love to see In Limbo, Treefingers, and Life in a Glasshouse being covered at a solo concert Edit: Optimistic, too.
I'm gonna double down on this by also adding that he's insanely talented, inventive and a level beyond what most other musicians could even hope to be. I also like that when he (very, very rarely) makes a mistake he's entirely human about it and just says fuck it, sorry. There's another video of him doing this on UA-cam and just apologising to the audience and admitting to his error. I think most musicians just try and style it out.
@@gregoirebertho Jacob could take all of his knowledge and technicality together in one song and wouldn't create anything nearly as emotionally touching as any Radiohead song.
Radiohead and Thom Yorke's music have helped me through so much CPTSD. I've been listening to Radiohead since I was an 8 year old child. Me and that 8 year old inner child are forever thankfull for all their work and all their mindblowing music, that has been moving me to tears for 27 years straight.
He seems more comfortable with himself these days. After OK Computer he appeared unprepared for the accolades and adulation accorded to him. He touched the World with his work, not ready to be deified like a Messiah. All of a sudden, we wanted to express our sincere emotions because we were all blown away. It was life changing, exciting, like no artist had presented such an effect on a fan base, who equally didn't expect or know what was going on. That connection struck us dumb, articulating our personal reactions was way different and beyond the regular vocabulary reserved for any musical act that had gone before. Our generation has grown up with Thom and the Boys, putting them above anything else in the history of Music, yet trying to describe what they have done for us is often beyond words. They connect with our whole individual inner selves in a spiritual yet cerebral way, they've soundtracked our psyché, touching our unique souls where we were previously empty. Thom is the reluctant hero. I don't know if he can embrace his Genius or ever wanted to be Worshipped. (He doesn't seem that way. I just hope he carries on creating because whether he likes it or not, he is So Fucking Special).
This reminds me of the time Thom Yorke played a solo acoustic set at the Bridge School Benefit concert back in the early 00's, and had the audacity to play Paranoid Android with just a guitar. I was there, and it was as awesome as you can imagine.
Listening Thom performing Rabbit in your headlights after all this years it was the best present of the 2022. He's still got it. And that smile when crowd sing Ed part was pure love ♥.
Thom is not performing, he's a medium that channels us through by opening his door to this cosmic realm of melodies, soundscapes,vibrations... And we gaze at this new world!
If I understand correctly, you publically sourced and pieced together varied snippets of videos and soundtracks using varied methods\technologies to produce this all in one creation. I'm enthralled by your effort as much as I am Thom Yorke's captured performance.
Removed the audience claps on free in the knowledge did a release right when it came out but did not get to finish the audio editing on all songs. Nice job gonna have a listen later I bet a lot of good video has come out since maybe even great audio to work with as well. If youd like to use the audio for this song by all means. Radiohead fans unite like they did 2011 madison square garden!!
Weird Fishes is one of the finest pieces of music ever captured that so succinctly describes the human condition and the unbearable weight of being that each of us can experience at any given time, if not be consumed by. Everyone wants a way out at some time in their lives, no matter how big, or small in the grand scheme their current "issue" seems. Beautiful, beautiful piece of music.
I am not a pianist at all... but the actual cheat for Daydreaming arpeggio is basically play the original verses melody with the right hand adding 2 more notes just in between using the left hand... It is actually very very simple! And of course, really beautiful to hear! Jonny is a genious! Sorry for my bad english, saludos desde México!
Wow Eraser was really amazing. Everything about that song is so great these vocals, the chords. And it is almost otherwordly when the kicks in. There we are take into another realm.
Much props to this. I know how much works goes into creating a multicam using multiple sources but it's it's the journey not the destination that makes it worthwhile.
Pure greatness, truly an inspiring artist. He goes far beyond the “rockstar”, he’s an all time great of song writing and performance, across many genres, and many years. To do a performance like this solo is just amazing.
Thanks and yes, if the videos and audio didn’t exist, then it wouldn’t have been possible in the first place… The main audio in particular was good enough to inspire me to keep working on the project
Probably the best version of Eraser I've heard. Also, thank you so much for the editing/production. That's something is really extraordinary and easily DVD quality.
To give you a spotlight, what an absolutely amazing piece of video and audio work. Insane talent we don’t even see in professional productions with audio that might as well be just as good. Congratulations are in order.
29:01 That was just legendary lol. I was suspecting he was learning a bit with Jonny since his piano skills improved a lot and he just admits it lol. Fantastic version still.

Thom surely has an incredible voice, but compared to other contemporary vocalists, he has never gotten worse as time goes by. Instead he has developed his voice even furtherly. A clear example of that being "Weird fishes/Arpeggi" from this concert. Beautiful in 2007, still stunning in 2022 (and 2023--->)

Funny because Thom is Neil Young’s number 1 fan :) he talks about it always and how he was struck and didn’t know what to say when he met Neil young
