  • Chris Atkeson, a professor at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, watches more scenes featuring robots from movies and television and continues to break down how accurate their depictions really are. Does Hal from "2001: A Space Odyssey" hate humans? Would robots speak to each other like R2-D2 and C-3PO in "Star Wars"?

    • @hauntedshadowslegacy2826

      When it comes to AI in robotics, you kinda have to involve psychology and philosophy. They're heavily interconnected.

    • @seeker296
      @seeker296 2 роки тому

      actually you can't even prove that you yourself are conscious. you can only "observe" "your own" "experiences", which is a type of self-awareness possibly, but it's impossible to say how complete that awareness is or what criteria it would have to meet in order to qualify as consciousness.
      I think getting rid of the hard categories and thinking more in spectrums is a step in the right direction.

You'll notice that when we see other brains, their Joy's generally seem to be unproblematic. The problem isn't Joy, or even that she was written badly, the problem was the headspace Riley was in at the time. TLDR, Joy was joy, she was just manifesting in an unhealthy way due to pressure.

      This is so true. It's very much near impossible to know precisely if your or someone's feelings are real. Doesn't even relate to the trust you place on the person when you know you can even lie to yourself into believing you do feel such things, therefore it's impossible for you to tell yourself or anyone that you're not really in love.
      You can just tell whether the person is committed to show it to you or not, depending on the kind of bond you have and your personnalities.
      There's no need to be afraid of it though, it's just natural. And it doesn't really matter anyways since even if it's not true you'd still have shown your affection and recieved some in a healthy relationship, that helps and feels good, and that just happened to end at some point. It's how life goes.

      If that was the case then baymax couldn't have figured out that hiro was allergic to peanuts. Although I do agree that medical records is far more possible irl. It could also be a combination of both medical records and then making decisions based off of other data. Then what you said might be possible. Just my thoughts

      @@TheWiseguyt Good epiphany to have! In my (short, 23 years) experience the slow and steady things are what makes life worth it in the end. Having a job you care about (which is not the same as enjoy, but is related to), living in such a way you can feel proud of yourself, sleeping enough... None of those are exciting, but they're THE goals to have imo.

    1:09 Fun Fact: HAL’s mss as malfunction was actually human error rather than computer error. He was given secret directives that conflicted with his core programming, basically causing him to develop the machine equalivant of a mental illness.
