To be fair, Hudson Hawk is made to a comic book standard of thievery and villainy. The Mayflowers alone are eccentric and over the top. Eddie wasn’t listening to music while sneaking around the gallery; he and his buddy and business partner Tommy Two-Tone SING the songs to themselves, based on the time of the song so that they know they have that much time before things become complicated and have to cut and run. The music overlay is just there for the audience. It’s so over the top Eddie and Tommy sing LOUDLY once they find the prize and finish the song as a duet in the middle of the gallery floor. 0/10 for reality, 10/10 for fun and wackiness.
In my humble, but highly respected :) , opinion, this is one of the best in this Insider series. Please do additional episodes with these two gentlemen. Most of this episode focused on paintings, but many other works have been looted and stolen. The Benin Bronzes and the Elgin Marbles are well known examples.

Not necessarily. While some laser sensors do actually need a sensor to detect something, like the cheap sensors used in detecting if something is in the way of a garage door closing, most laser sensors commonly used are something called a laser time-of-flight sensor. These send pulses of laser light in a specific pattern, and time how long these pulses take to return back to the sensor. Using this time and the speed of light, they can work out the distance to the target from the sensor, and from that figure out if they need to send an alert. These are commonly used in industrial automation for part sensing and detection in assembly lines.

@@MyRegardsToTheDodo 100%. Plus, museums loan/trade/sell/gift pieces to one another all the time, and it’s such a beautiful and important thing! & like you said, even if they didn’t, there is still no good excuse for continuing to hoard stolen culture/history
I believe the reason(rather a good one or not) is the belief said art and artifacts would not be safe if returned as even today africa is far from stable
@@mondaysinsanity8193 In that case we should probably take every culturally relevant item from the US. The country is far from stable and I'm afraid art and artifacts aren't safe there due to civilian unrest. You realize how stupid that argument is?
@@mondaysinsanity8193 you can't call an entire continent unstable. Every country has their problems and many countries in africa are far from the "unstable" stereotype y'all think they have. I'd argue that the US is more unstable than a lot of african countries nowadays but I don't see Ethiopia for example stealing american art for the sake of "protection".
These two were phenomenal to watch. Really would love to hear more of their stories.
IM SO HAPPY YOU MENTIONED BLACKLIST! It’s my favorite show ever!!!
The best episode ever. The enthusiasm the energy the edutainment these duo has put in... is so mavel to watch... bring them back
This gentlemen did a an amazingly great job of explaining all the events. Just wished the whole world would get along positively like this and get on the same page.
Well, Hollywood thinks Interpol is short for "International Police" when in reality the name is rather meant to invoke the idea of inter-police (communication mostly)
You need to make more of these. Octave is so chill and it seems he's got mad skills.
What I really enjoy about these videos of these duo is that no one in the comment section is screaming at Insider fo bringing ex-cons to talk like regular human being or want to cancel the show cuz it is misleading or bad teaching the kids. Even in the previous video where he has not mentioned the fact he did the time - everyone is just sensible enough to assume that because he can actually sit there and in a very COLOURFUL orange sweater (love it), not a jumpsuit, that he has done what’s required for him to be sitting next to an art detective.
That art theif man he really loves art. U can tell by that sweatshirt he wears🤣😂
I was thinking the same 😂
I agree-- you can tell. And it's a really cool sweatshirt!
He's going back to the 90's.
Can anybody please tell me the brand of the sweatshirt? Or the name of the piece (if it's actually an existing painting)
@@cheesecakelasagna I'd be interested in knowing as well
I love Arthur’s Book „Hitters Horses“, it’s really interesting and exciting to read.
I wish he would do a podcast, that would be great.
These two deserve a movie themselves!
The one with the detaching and folding oil painting was pure ridiculous. It doesn’t take any expert to notice that, makes you wonder what kinda people allowed these scenes….
What I love about these two is that Oky is so harsh in his ratings but Arthur is so generous. It makes for a good yin and yang.
They seem like a great team and I love learning about art thefts! There is just something about it, I could watch endless videos about this
Oh, I love them! This episode was really great and I hope the channel brings them back for another segment. To be frank, I'd watch a whole netflix show with these guys commenting on heists and movies. It was very entertaining and educational! (:
To be fair to Black Panther, they took it as a weapon, not as a piece of art.
A lot of those African weapons are considered artwork because of the intricate carvings on them.
@@sob4844 but in the movie, it was for the metal it was made of.

At this Point they'll even Call Pablo Escobar to Judge Heist Scenes or Money Gambling

Buy an Ouija board, lol
Not to be stupid, but who?
@@thisisme4074 created the most successful drug empire. Pablo Escobar. Seasons of the show Narcos dedicated to his story.
Yup. Tragically underrated film.
@@awmperry agreed. If you lean into the screwball antics it’s a FANTASTIC film.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I must speak with the dolphins.
the knowledge these guys have is insane!
I can listen to these guys all day. They are incredible.
i will never get tired hearing all their stories, it's very thrilling and amazing
Okkie (on the right) had stolen 2 Van Gogh's! He knows what he's talking about
Ok now I want a movie about these two!
Better than any Marvel crap!
Try watching white collar it was a great tv show that was basically this
In my humble, but highly respected :) , opinion, this is one of the best in this Insider series. Please do additional episodes with these two gentlemen. Most of this episode focused on paintings, but many other works have been looted and stolen. The Benin Bronzes and the Elgin Marbles are well known examples.
That ending gave me a lot of laughs. I wish this duo got more episodes. I really enjoyed watching & listening to them. Each of their stories & insights are incredibly interesting & their temperaments are very engaging as well.
I've watched a lot of these but this is my favorite so far. Love the way they explain everything!
Gosh I’d love to see white collar theft movies reviewed by Neil Caffrey and Peter Burke!!
This duo is basically Neil and Peter in real life 😂
The guy is a legend to do that. I'd be mad if I had a Picasso painting on my wall just for an hour.
Most importantly, alarm lasers need a receiver in order to be disrupted.
In theory it's possible though. In reality, you're right.
I've ALWAYS thought this
Not necessarily. These are commonly used in industrial automation for part sensing and detection in assembly lines.

man, these two are living a Hollywood movie for real. a 10/10
The pairing of these two as a team is so wholesome to me. It's like the unlikeliest friendship, but you can see they work so well together! I would love to hear more stories from them--I'll bet they have crazier stories than anything Hollywood has done!
I love this duo so much, hoping we'll see them talk again about these
Love the growing grin on Octave's face as Arthur recounted the Picasso story at the end.
10,000 Burgalaries? That’s over 27 years of stealing at the rate of one burglary per day without a break ! Whoa.. That’s something.
I think he meant 10000 stolen items.
That is 27 years of DEVOTION!
Oky said in a comment somewhere (not sure if here or in the other video) that his criminal career was around two decades of multiple burglaries per day
@@kx4998 or places/moments
Don't blame him, he is just an actor. Blame the writers who didn't bother to do the math, leading to this ridiculous revelation
I could watch these two for hours, please bring them back!
Just wait ...
So from Amsterdam the Netherlands...
We need this duo back ASAP 😂 I love their commentary
I like how comfortable they are with each other
In Black Panther's defense, the art being stolen wasn't meant to be sold, so all bets were off
It's a really cool scene, imo
@@1gorSouz4 agreed. It sets up the rest of the movie really well.
Also, they only needed the vibranium material in it.
"In Black Panther's defense" lmao this is being said too much. Proves how bad of a film it is. And ofc in Killmongers defense, he was black. He was literally a black Hitler hahaha
This video is about art, he stole art at a museum, doesn't matter what it is made of or what they would use it for. It was displayed as art in an art museum, hence an art thief. Doesn't make a difference, he is just a bad person doing a bad thing. At the very least he is a horrible art thief and just a thug.
In this video defense, this is about how they stole it, not what they stole
Very Entertaining duo! Hope that you do some more with them! This was one of the best you have done so far!
Having two guys like this, each with their own separate expertises, is a force to be reckoned with.
OMG I love these guys! I would pay to see a movie or buy a book about them and their true adventures. I do hope they are keeping a little journal of their lives. What amazing work.
Okie actually has a book about his life as a thief. He wrote it while he was in prison for stealing 2 van Gogh paintings
I'm really happy for Ocky. He was skilled and smart enough to be offered a job helping prevent art theft. He really turned his life around. Good on him
Haha "is there any chance your leaving tonight" 😂😂😂
I really hope they make a part two! I need to hear more of their stories 🙏
I also flinched when he put the oil painting in the suitcase and folded it in half. As an artist, it hurt my soul.
I love these guys. Couldn't name a more iconic duo!
