Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Opel/Vauxhall Mokka 2021

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.
Additional tests and checks have been done to ensure that the rating also applies to the Mokka-e.

Better than expected, it is actually quite good based on what PSA has done in the past, this is one of the best, the big problem is poor values for drivers in the front crash, but it turns out to be due to the passengers sitting too far forward, these cars from PSA are so short that you have to have the seat far back to get a good sitting position, EuroNcap does not take this into account, but maintaining a predetermined distance and then you end up too close to the steering wheel and the panel, which makes the braking short and brutal, the seats needs to be moved backwards 5-10 cm to get the right position, and then the result will be different.
Otherwise it is very good.
That it does not have any of the latest technology was already well known and it gives low points, but that does not make it worse compared to others who also lack this future equipment.

I was in a crash in a mokka 2014 model I'm pretty sure it was with my dad. We went into a lamp post and we both walked away with no injuries due to the crumple zones. Great job vaxhaull !

We updated our tests in 2020 and normally we do this every 2 years but with the worldwide pandemic we will update our tests in 2023. About the 2 cars you mention, we will test them this year still.

Euro NCAP does not perform rear impact tests. We perform the whiplash test to promote good seat and head restraint design for protection in rear impact.
Next to that we promote active safety like AEB which we see as the most effective way to address the problem.
