Bossman, keep up the good work. I'm just starting as an owner operator and have a Cat C7 in my Freightliner M2 and there's a Cat mechanic on UA-cam called Adept Ape. I've been watching a lot of his how to services videos. The middle hole for the oil filter is where filtered oil comes from, you ideally want to fill your outer small holes with fresh oil when your priming the oil filter with fresh oil, not the inner big whole because you always want filtered oil to be fed to the engine and lessen the risk of contaminated oil. I believe that most if not all oil filters use this same principle. Big up yuhself boss!
Appreciate it, bro. Just a quick heads up on the C7. It's probably the most problematic engine ever made by CAT. prior to owning big rigs, I had two M2 106 freightliners as well. Both had CAT C7 engines. Most of the problems with that engine begins with the Heui pump. Both engines had the same issues. Just stay on top of your maintenance.
@presy_jay Thanks for the heads up. Been doing some research on the engine, didn't really know anything about the Heui pump until aftern I bought the truck, I thought that all CATs were bulletproof engines. I just changed my oil and from what I've gathered, that's vital with the heui system

Being a owner operator is definitely a lot more work than just hoping in the truck and go. My uncle used to go over his truck from front to back every month. As he said its a pride thing but also his lively hood for his family. He kept 2 trucks to swap between when one was down being worked on. i remember being the tool runner as a kid and holding the light for him. Sadly he passed away when a log fell off his trailer and killed him instantly. Safe travels.

Thanks very much for showing how the Owner Operator stuff works, atleast you have real truck that you can work on. Them modern curbsniffers if you look at it the garage is mad at ya for your intentions and your warrenty is in danger. Keep rolling Goldskool with the 379 and a purrin kitten under the hood, best truck ever..... might not be the cheapest in fuel, buuut atleast you dont have to worry about them dpf related drawbacks. (and that's expensive) Keep the rubber side down and stay safe! God Bless!
Hey 👋 Marv bud, another awesome trucking 🚛 video 📹, could I ask you, i noticed paint 🎨 missing at the back of cab, could you give the old girl a respray same colour it's awesome and the plates covering the shafts the same colour????
I'm gonna paint the truck this spring. That's from the air lines rubbing against the back of the sleeper. The others are from removing the panels that were on the side of the truck.
Typically do those truck oil filters have torque specs or do most truckers do it by hand like Marv did in the video? I would assume with the level of vibration those engines could spin them off if not tightened properly. Would be interested to hear from some drivers as I'm a car guy and have no clue but interested in learning.
I'll even hand tighten them (without the wrench). Once they build up pressure and get hot, they become tighter. If you tighten it any tighter than you saw in this video, it can be a nightmare to remove it.
as long as you grease (not oil) the O-rings on fuel and oil filters, so they go on smoothly, hand tight is enough. Never had one some loose in 27 years of working on trucks.
God bless you my brother, listen am about to jump to the owner operator side thank god I was able to save a good amount of money and am looking forward to buy a 379 or 389 Pete but am seeing that the 379s am looking online are more cheaper than the 389s. But all 379 have caterpillar C15 engines in them and a lot people telling me not to get one because a lot of these new mechanics don’t know how to work on them so am concerned whether to buy a 379 or not.whats your take brother am looking a 379 right now for $65k with 8 hundred thousand miles on it. It looks decent but it has that’s c15 engine 2007 Pete 379. Looking forward to hear your advice before jumping into this endeavor.
Congrats on getting to this junction and putting yourself in this position. A pre-emission CAT is the way to go. Can't go wrong with a 6nz or a 3406. Anyone saying otherwise, don't know much.
That's not true. My insurance is less than $1200 a month. If you're paying $4000 a month for insurance, your company must be a start-up company, or you have several accidents or moving violations.
Hi Marv this is still @Nathanb1r I just wanted to let you know that I had to create a new account but it is still me so don't think I went away from your channel because your videos are way too good to leave.
FYI, there's a difference between a catwalk and a deck plate. 99.9% of trucks don't have a deck plate. I'm pretty sure you meant catwalk. In that case, the catwalk was removed when I stretched the truck.
@presy_jay That makes sense to. Imagine a long man 7ft something & slim wearing tennis shorts being cut 12 inches above his knees. He'd look funny bc of his long legs. I wouldn't have reinstalled a catwalk cut to short either. Having preferences we do what we want to do with our own regardless of matter fact opinions sold in the world of truckers... Soon as ppl see a Pete they automatically know everything as it should be bc it's a Pete. Don't let superiority complex be a factor attached to the know it all announcing what should be I swear that's a whole problem in itself waiting to pull down moving in class what should be, in the world of trucking. Chrome & class changing a man heart towards a man that stands up to piss just as he do . Opinions are wild these days truth be told
Just curious why the switch from Michelin to goodyear? I'm assuming because of prices/cost. I'm due for 8 new drives myself, put the Michelin X-energy on my steers already and have been very happy with them so far besides the price tag. Was debating biting the bullet and running them on my drives as well. Everyone has such different opinions on tire manufacturers and expectations that makes going off of reviews alone very difficult.... im sure you understand what im talking about
It came down to price. With Michelin, you're paying for the name. They are great tires but still overpriced. Michelin would have been an additional $1100-1400. With the current state of trucking, you gotta save however you can.
I ised to own my own truck which i inherrited from him i know how it feels to be owner operator i had to sell it because of the age of the truck i did hard work in its time
I already said it once but i ‘ll say it twice. Owner operator doing owner operator things. You need to take care of the truck and trailer. At the end it’s your tool to earn money.
@presy_jay Thanks bro,you hear 15,000 to 18,000 but it seem like you take care of your truck and know what you talking about...I been doing 15000 but will change to 10000-12000 Any good repair shops you Recommend out of Charlotte NC
that either rlly sucks and someone would hate to do all that or you're just saying all that to steer people away from it so it doesn't get saturated and people start making less money in it
nah bro the amount of work that comes with owning your own truck is too much for people to handle. And if you want other people to handle your business get ready to go broke. Just the reality of it.
If someone thinks they're just gonna own a truck and make a bunch of money, they'll be in for a rude awakening. Especially if they own one of those newer trucks with all those filters. Good luck! I've got enough stories on breakdowns and repairs to make a 10 series vlog. This comes with real responsibilities.
Hello my blood father can we buy a truck and make it available to the company ????? One tho the company that pays the taxes and repair costs ????? Will you have intérest in your truck or not ???? Please my only father
Nope. Over a week and a half later. Still holding 110 psi. That was my 1st instinct too, but it’s fine. The cold weather got the best of it while I was parked up for a few days.

Never had one some loose in 27 years of working on trucks.
nice peterbilt keep grinding like the videos.

Bro you are very steady and very level that's like God righteous
Man the hell with owning a truck. Str8 up headache. Always something
I've survived the worst-case scenarios. Rebuilding an engine is as bad as it gets. I've been there and done it. Wouldn't truck no other way.
@BrandonLeech .. 100% true! That's some scary stuff. I dump truck in GA and it's not for the weak
Didn’t know you was from Hartford ct that’s dope
@@Reignz2k6 Formally. I now reside in NC.
What's happening Big Guy. I just seen you in NC at the fuel stop a few days ago
Yesir I just leased onto my first company
Be careful with leasing on to a company. Especially if you’re leasing their truck. Leasing can put you in the hole big time.
@ It’s my own W900 I’m making payments on. At least Cattle pays good
God bless you my brother, listen am about to jump to the owner operator side thank god I was able to save a good amount of money and am looking forward to buy a 379 or 389 Pete but am seeing that the 379s am looking online are more cheaper than the 389s.
Look good!!
Where you buying your tires from pricing was quite competitive
@@doc_lovelydayz Very good pricing indeed. Blacks Commercial Tires in Monroe, NC
Upgrades let's go 🙏🏽

Is being an owner operator worth it with the insurance? I have heard it costs $4,000 a month just for insurance.
That's not true. My insurance is less than $1200 a month. If you're paying $4000 a month for insurance, your company must be a start-up company, or you have several accidents or moving violations.
@@presy_jay Okay, understood. Thank you
After grease the drive line I wipe it of with diesel fuel cloth to get off the extra grease
I'm gonna put some grease covers over the grease points.
What’s up marv
Hey Gregory 👋🏽
Hi Marv this is still @Nathanb1r I just wanted to let you know that I had to create a new account but it is still me so don't think I went away from your channel because your videos are way too good to leave.
Were you nervous starting your own business? Do you take vacations? Or is it all work for now?
@@lezamac6 Nervous, no. Excited, yes. These days, I'm home more than I work. I've taken countless vacations. Family comes 1st.
Truck should have a deck plate no matter what.
Matter of preferences
FYI, there's a difference between a catwalk and a deck plate. 99.9% of trucks don't have a deck plate. I'm pretty sure you meant catwalk. In that case, the catwalk was removed when I stretched the truck.
@presy_jay
That makes sense to.
Nice video Marv! She looks great! But Sorry she sounds even better. Ha Ha!
😂😂😂 Good one
@@ArtiSentinel Most definitely. Looks like you caught this upload before going to bed.🫡🇩🇪
@ yes I did. It’s 11:55 p.m. It’s holidays so I’m still awake ^^
@ArtiSentinel gotcha. Stay safe.
If you look on the side of that filter it says not to pre fill
@daneblackburn613 I'm still gonna continue to pre fill it... I've been doing it that way for over 10+ years.
How often should you do a oil change ?
Every 10k miles
@presy_jay Thanks bro,you hear 15,000 to 18,000 but it seem like you take care of your truck and know what you talking about...I been doing 15000 but will change to 10000-12000 Any good repair shops you Recommend out of Charlotte NC
From minute 6:20 to 6:45 can somebody explain why the tire won't take air when it has more air than the air tanks? Pls
Simple physics bro. Think of it this way. River can't flow upstream.
🎯
I see. Thanks brother @joshuakaruri
Bredda, machine look good
Much respect 🫡
But. I'll bet you feel a sense of pride and satisfaction when work is done, and the truck purrs like a newborn kitten.
Can’t put a price on it.
Only for the strong

What grade engine oil you put in your engine hi use 15W/40 shell
Same.
@ ok bro keep doing what you doing
👍👍
that either rlly sucks and someone would hate to do all that
or you're just saying all that to steer people away from it so it doesn't get saturated and people start making less money in it
nah bro the amount of work that comes with owning your own truck is too much for people to handle. And if you want other people to handle your business get ready to go broke. Just the reality of it.
Marv enjoys trucking and everything that comes with it. I know I did. If you know you know.
My company changes the oil every 85 thousand miles 😆
Lol. They're probably replacing the engine annually, too.
@presy_jay I've made it 60 thousand so far

$3,800 for tires is pocket change for you, my guy😅😅
Cheap! The last 8 drives I bought for my truck, Virgin Goodyear G182's, H rated 11R22.5's, up here in Canada, was $6200.00cdn out the door. :(
I did get a really good deal on them. All 10 tires came up to around $4900. I replaced the steers 1 month ago.

If your tire is 10psi, you have a hole.
Nope. Over a week and a half later. Still holding 110 psi. That was my 1st instinct too, but it’s fine. The cold weather got the best of it while I was parked up for a few days.
