I've had my issues with the 2005 Pride and Prejudice for a while, but I think I'm coming to a place of equanimous understanding with it. 2005 really leans into the drama and romance of the story, and is beautifully shot and scored. 1995, partly because it is a more faithful adaptation, heavily showcases the humor of the story. It's not bad to love the drama and romance of 2005, but one of the things I love the most about the story is how funny it is, which is why my favorite version is the 1995 one.

Really? Even though Austen touches on heavier topics, her stories are in the end always hopeful & happy. The 'heavier stuff' is usually in the middle of the story and the end is always a nice and satisfying wrap up
