I most definitely prefer Colonel Brandon! He's wonderful! And not just good to Marianne but he is just a good human being overall to everyone. And he was played beautifully by Alan Rickman!
I like both. I found both to be kind as well as a bit awkward - though Darcy seemed the more uncomfortable in groups. Being one of the wealthiest people in the country, I suppose he had to guard against people approaching him to use him. That had to make make social gatherings even harder to bear. I rather think Brandon and Darcy would have gotten on quite well if they met. I would definitely be more interested in a Brandon or Darcy, than the flashier Willoughby or a Wickham!
At last, learning sense, she appreciates Colonel Brandon at his true worth. Married to him, she achieves happiness because she "could never love by halves; and her whole heart became in time, as much devoted to her husband, as it had once been to Willoughby."
Willoughby watching the wedding of Marianne and Col. Brandon, then riding away. Seeing the regret on his face was justice for Marianne. Golden moments!
My late mother and I loved Col. Brandon. He was handsome, charming and wonderful. Alan Rickman was perfect in his role. We need more men like Col. Brandon ❤
Он восхитительно передал все те эмоции,что чувствует человек,когда любовь не взаимная,все те переживания,которые он передал было очень талантливо,жаль,что мало таких ролей он получал. Для меня он ВСЕГДА в памяти полковник Брендон.
Colonel Christopher Brandon, what a man! Alan Rickman was magnificent, this whole film is perfection. His performance when Marianne says thank you is just a second but its blisteringly beautiful ❤️
The sheer brilliance of Emma Thompson’s Screenplay and all of the outstanding performances makes for an exquisite film. I would single out Alan Rickman for his excellent performance as Col Brandon. ❤ He is missed.
This is so beautiful and romantic yet tragic. Words can’t describe how well this is made and how much I love it!! This is definitely my favorite Jane Austen couple. You are so talented 🥹🥹🥹
I saw this movie today. Alan Rickman did a great job, I immediately fell in love with Colonel Brandon. He is a true gentleman, he waited patiently, even if don't see it much in the film, he did what he could for her, and even more. We miss you Alan Rickman🤍🙏🏻
Colonel Brandon will always be the greatest love of my life. Every time I watch Sense and Sensibility , I imagine that I am the greatest love of Colonel Brandon‘s life. One never outgrows a beautiful romance. .
I loved Alan so much. From the very first time I saw him in "The Barchester Chronicles" (and looking back, how very much like Snape Obadiah Slope was!), through "Truly, Madly, Deeply", "Quigley Down Under" and then all his other great works, right up to "Eye In The Sky", he will always and for ever be my number one. It seems impossible that it is now eight years since we lost him. So cruel. Rest in peace, Alan. Oh, and I must add, what a beautiful video - it brought tears to my eyes again. Well done, and thank you so much for making my day! By Grabthar's hammer - always! 😢😢
Alan Rickman was the most wonderful of actors and highly beloved and respected by his peers. I enjoy all of his roles - most favourite, the Sheriff of Notingham. He was absolutely brilliant.
Mi personaje favorito de Jane Austen. El Coronel Brandon siempre está entre la sensualidad y la ternura. Alan Rickman la voz, sus labios, la mirada... incomparable y tan hermoso como siempre ❣️
Just watched this for the first time and wondering why I have never seen it sooner!!!!! Love Colonel Brandon he had that great love type of yearning and longing for Maryann that I just adore seeing ❤
That movie from the book is so well done. We need more Colonel Brandon in life. They all played so well in this movie. When I heard the sister say : Colonel Brandon is not as dashing as Willoughby. Let me say can we agree to disagree? Rickman just nailed it. I would have fallen head over heels for him.
Whomever had played Miss Gray in the 1995 and 2008 version did so well, without any lines, having had a complete look of superiority and snubbing Miss Marianne in such a short scene with lasting impact!
It was so frustrating watching Marianne refuse the wonderful Christopher Brandon, but that moment when she recognizes her love for him ( when thanking him as he is about to go out the door) ,and he recognizes it as well, is everything.
This movie was incredibly beautiful, I loved every bit of it.. but for me Mr.brandon and Miss Elinor would make such a wonderful couple, while watching the movie I could sense the hidden chemistry bursting through the screen.. they both were sensible, responsible and respectful person individually, they would have been so great together
Same… the way she observed and sympathise with him. Like how he observed and sympathised with Marianne. In a deeper level, those two are 2 peas in a pod, if it was the modern story, these two would end up together 🤣 their chemistry here made me admire their acting in love actually. Where the chemistry in here is exploding, the tension and awkwardness between the estranged husband and wife are seen in love actually 👏👏👏 I love these two actors a lot!
One of my favorite scenes is when Colonel Brandon brings back Marianne's mother. He starts to leave drawing no attention to himself and might have slipped away unnoticed had not Marianne thanked him. In a subtle way it drives home two points. Firstly, that Brandon is a good, kind person whether or not anyone is paying attention, and secondly that Marianne is beginning to appreciate him. ... I've heard a few people make the absurd argument that Marianne "settled" for Brandon, since she wasn't initially drawn to him. I strongly disagree with that take, not only because Brandon was always a better man than Willoughby, but also because it ignores/denies Marianne's character development.
I hear way too many women say “I want a Mr. Darcy!” And I’m all, “I’ll take the kind, compassionate, good man the Colonel Brandon was.”
I agree wholeheartedly.
Meeee 22222222222222 ❤
Is it bad I want both lol??😅❤
“Give me an occupation Miss Dashwood or I shall run mad!” Have more romantic words ever been spoken?
That was soo romantic😭❤
Well said ..that's my favourite line...swoooon❤....and she sees him....fabulous...miss u Alan ❤❤❤
This!!
Would that I would’ve have had a man say such words regarding me!
Your are so right
No other version of Sense and Sensibility comes close to the magic of this one.
I agree. For me Alan Rickman will always be Colonel Brandon ❤
Col Brandon was one fine man. Thankful to Alan Rickman for playing him so well.
Yeah, that's not an easy part!
Alan Rickman wanted this role very very much, and Emma Thompson wrote it with him in mind. What perfect casting!
Alan Rickman is the ONLY actor I can picture in this part at this time. Pure perfection. ❤❤❤
@@lindahorton9488Yeah, no one else can play him!
A man to fall in love with, no doubt
How could one man's smile be so genuinely beautiful!? We miss you , Alan. ❤
It was a knockout
Truly
I keep rewinding him smiling ❤
Colonel Brandon was one of the most honorable of characters.
That is true.
Indeed
He is my favorite Austenian character, even more than Elizabeth Bennet!
I've often thought that this was some of Alan Rickman's finest work.
I miss Alan Rickman so much. He was absolutely brilliant and an amazing talent.
YES!!
She needed to experience heartbreak to understand love. It grew her up emotionally & they were better suited for each other then.
Yes, true that.
At last, learning sense, she appreciates Colonel Brandon at his true worth. Married to him, she achieves happiness because she "could never love by halves; and her whole heart became in time, as much devoted to her husband, as it had once been to Willoughby."
Прекрасно Вами сказано.
@@ЕленаСташкова-ъ1ъ (... well said by Jane Austen, but it's a lovely quote.)
So well done. I love the moment when he's ready to shut the door, but then she says his name and he steps out of the shadow and into sunlight.
Agreed. Such a subtle and powerfully romantic moment in cinema.
Wonderfully acted and directed. And the photography on this is absolutely stunning.
Willoughby watching the wedding of Marianne and Col. Brandon, then riding away. Seeing the regret on his face was justice for Marianne. Golden moments!
What a beautiful man and actor he was - and what a loss.
His love for her was completely pure and wholesome.
Dear God I loved Alan Rickman! Utterly breathtaking in such an understated way. The way he spoke. His facial expressions. Mmmmm...
No foul language, no nasty sex scenes. Just pure talent and acting and a great story.
Entièrement d'accord avec vous
Yes! The Best sort of movies...
“He’s the kindest and best of men”
Alan Rickman was all that and more
My late mother and I loved Col. Brandon. He was handsome, charming and wonderful. Alan Rickman was perfect in his role. We need more men like Col. Brandon ❤
What a gorgeous voice Alan Rickman had as well as a beautiful face ❤
He could read the telephone book to me, with that voice and i would hang on to every word. ❤ 😢
Rest in peace, Alan Rickman. We miss you, and love you.
A real man. Wonderful actor. Rest in peace Alan.
Colonel Brandon-He would have been the man of my dreams
Same here...man of my dreams...❤❤❤
Me too!
God he was beautiful. I have never loved an actor like I love him.
Он восхитительно передал все те эмоции,что чувствует человек,когда любовь не взаимная,все те переживания,которые он передал было очень талантливо,жаль,что мало таких ролей он получал.
Для меня он ВСЕГДА в памяти полковник Брендон.
He sparkled. The camera loved him. I often thought that he would have made a wonderful stage actor. He understood CRAFT.
He was a stage actor. He was nominated for a Tony award.
He played in Dangerous Liasions on the stage.
He was a wonderful stage actor. He and Helen Mirren took Cleopatra by storm.
My teenage daughter & I spent a lot of time screaming at Maryann about what an idiot she was for not appreciating Brandon (Rickman)!
She was only 17 years old. His character was supposed to be about 35-36 years old. If course she would go for the dashing younger guy first.
*Of course....
👍
He suits the time and dress so well! 🥰
His voice was so enchanting and strong that touched our minds for evermore 😊😊😊
Alan Rickman could have ready a phonebook for hours and i would listen 24/7, an amazing man we lost too early😢
Colonel Christopher Brandon, what a man! Alan Rickman was magnificent, this whole film is perfection. His performance when Marianne says thank you is just a second but its blisteringly beautiful ❤️
Alan Rickman deserved an Oscar for Brandon!
That first scene where Brandon falls for Marianne is one of my very favorites in this movie-so well done!
The sheer brilliance of Emma Thompson’s Screenplay and all of the outstanding performances makes for an exquisite film. I would single out Alan Rickman for his excellent performance as Col Brandon. ❤ He is missed.
My friends and i used to watch this movie on VHS at slumber parties.📼 We were all so in love with Col.Brandon. He was the sweetest. ❤🥰
Alan Rickman is amazing and sorely missed! R.I.P !
I love this movie and wish I could meet a kind and endearing man like Colonel Brandon. Fell in love with this actor because of this movie - lol.
This is so beautiful and romantic yet tragic. Words can’t describe how well this is made and how much I love it!! This is definitely my favorite Jane Austen couple. You are so talented 🥹🥹🥹
This is one of my most adored movies.
How can one NOT like Alan!
Great movie! I miss Alan Rickman! Brilliant actor

Colonel Brandon will always be the greatest love of my life. Every time I watch Sense and Sensibility , I imagine that I am the greatest love of Colonel Brandon‘s life. One never outgrows a beautiful romance. .
Ohhh, there will never be another. Thank You Alan for opening our hearts. ❤❤❤
I loved Alan so much. Must have seen this film a dozen times but it still makes me cry
Ah ‼️ Rickman, you knew how to act, by gosh ... that look of love ... and hurt ... 😖 Brilliant - it really touched me 💟
I loved him best in this movie, because when I read the book this was the man I saw there.

Alan was incredibly handsome, but Colonel Brandon is not SUPPOSED to be handsome…
None of the nIn characters ever looked as good as they do in this movie. A masterpiece of story and acting!
Whomever had played Miss Gray in the 1995 and 2008 version did so well, without any lines, having had a complete look of superiority and snubbing Miss Marianne in such a short scene with lasting impact!
What a man🥰🌺🙏🏽
Miss good movies and actors
Melhor versão da obra até o momento....excelente ator...grande perda😢
I like this actor. It's a pity that he is no longer here.
My favorite Alan Rickman movie.❤
Alan is just sheer perfection in every way ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I really loved looking at Alan Rickman . He was a very attractive man.
The best couple from Sense and Sensibility.
It was so frustrating watching Marianne refuse the wonderful Christopher Brandon, but that moment when she recognizes her love for him ( when thanking him as he is about to go out the door) ,and he recognizes it as well, is everything.
One of my favourite movies.
Esa pareja se robó toda la pelicula, hermosos.. el Coronel Brandom fiel representante de los maravillosos hombres del Universo De Jane Austen..❤
My God I will miss him forever. 💔😭

God, how I miss him!
My all time favourite version of this story. Emma Thompson won an Academy Award for best adapted screenplay. Brilliantly executed in my opinion.
He was truly fine, in every sense of that word.
Amo muito ❤️
