This does mess with the perfect ending of the original series but boy am I glad that we still got it. It's kind of sad that we had to sit through City Primeval to get SOMETHING good. Bring on a Season 2! For Justified to work, you need Raylan AND Boyd. And bring back Wynn Duffy, Winona, Loretta, and some of the other characters too!
Half of those characters are retired or on the run, City Primeval ruined enough of the series already, I would be perfectly happy for it to end this way.

Boyd now has to remain in prison for the rest of his life after losing everything he had built up. Case closed. Justified was one of those rare shows that had an amazing series finale like the shield but then comes along this weak corny spin-off too undo it lol there are just several things wrong with this spin-off on so many different levels let's just hope it's forgotten about 🤣
We should riot that they gave us this ending and weak n corny spin-off in the first place. Justified ended with season 6 along with the arcs of Raylan and Boyd.
You know, I've never found Goggins to be all that attractive, but somehow seeing him bald and looking like he was in a fire has upped him on the desirability scale quite a bit.
As vile a person as Boyd was, I still thought he was a more entertaining character and waaay more likable than Raylan. Raylan was just another TV series hero with plot armor.
The Og Justified did have a perfect, and i mean perfect, ending. However, the original short novel, Fire in the Hole, by Elmore Leonard ended with Raylan shooting Boyd to death. So they could salvage the trash sequel series by having a final showdown b/w Boyd and Raylan.
City Primeval was 9 hours and 55 minutes of shit, just to get us to this final 5 minutes. Except where What's-his-nuts got fresh with Raylan's daughter, and Raylan beat the shit out of him in front of the hotel. That was good. The rest was trying to shoehorn Raylan into a non-Raylan story.
The ultimate badass is loose! Seems like Justified was always in Breaking Bad's shadow when it and it's characters were in fact superior. I watched an episode of Yellowstone the other day where the blonde broad was talking tough to some inmate. It was a sad pathetic ripoff of the scene where Boyd verbally lays waste to a Kentucky millionaire in his bedroom before he kills him. No show equals Justified. If TV was real life it would take Boyd less than a week to exterminate the Salamancas, Mike and Walt, and then go to Montana, kill Rip, rape Beth, and take the ranch away from Kevin. Those cowboys wouldn't stand a chance. No one could stop him. Well, except for Chuck Norris.
No one anchors there to fish or do anything. So perfect that this horrible sequel ends on yet another wrong note. Erase this abomination, have a final season of Justified (and get a decent actress to play Raylan's daughter instead of the nepotism hire). The whole thing should end with Raylan and Boyd partnering to take down a cartel, then opening a tiki bar on some remote beach together. And the final moment is the Chief wandering in to get a drink, seeing Boyd and Raylan behind the bar, and saying "Fuckin' Raylan..."

You knew at the end of the first series that Boyd wasn't going to stay in jail... When did he ever?
